The kind of game we need a Ji-Sung Park or Darren Fletcher.

Herrera and Pogba are both going to need to be everywhere in the middle of the pitch today as Carrick will struggle with their press IMO.

Despite everything being said this won't be pretty and will be very tough. I kind of prefer going into these games as underdogs to be honest.

I'll take any win. Just don't lose.

The way Jose has us playing has most of us fans very happy and excited at the moment. We're definitely not a boring side this season, but there are definitely times when we'll need to reign it in a little to make sure we get the result.

Contrary to popular belief, Jose has never 'crushed our dreams' as someone above said.

Both Mourinho and Benitez were looked at as possible replacements for Houllier but we chose Rafa. Jose got the better of us in the league that first season (4-0 and 1-0 victories IIRC) and his team beat us in the Carling Cup final in 2005 (a dissapointment but hardly dream crushing) and was running down the touchline with his fingers to his lips towards the Liverpool fans as if he'd just won the European Cup.

He brought his team to Anfield for the Champions League semi final and after a drab 0-0 first leg, we beat Chelsea. His petulance afterwards went another step towards our hatred of him with his refusal to acknowledge that even if Garsia's goal hadn't stood, it would have been a penalty to Liverpool and a red card to the keeper. I'm pretty sure Jose would have preferred what actually happened when they had 90mins with 11 men to score an equaliser but couldn't.

He was still moaning 12 months later when we dumped Chelsea out of the FA Cup semi final at Old Trafford and then again the following year before another European Cup semi final when he said that they'd been beaten 2 years previous with no goals being scored.

Jose left Chelsea soon after with no dream crushing taking place.

His return to Chelsea saw that infamous match at Anfield but that wasn't Jose beating Liverpool as we were really comfortable up until Gerrard slipped. A 0-0 would have been fine and Chelsea set up to get just that. It was a gift for them that gave them the goal and nothing to do with Jose's tactics. We dominated the rest of the game but after a Liverpool mistake, Chelsea broke away and scored another. Once again Jose ran down the touchline beating his chest like he'd won the World Cup.

Plenty of people have crushed our dreams in the past (I include Ferguson in that) but Jose hasn't. He just happens to be the pantomine villan that we love to hate.

We need to hammer home goal after goal and make them tap out, like in a UFC match. We need to bludgeon them. Make Klopp wave the white flag and beg for the final whistle.

I think you will beat us today or it will be a draw. I can't see us winning it and have said as much in previous posts. As Utd fans, I was trying to give an insight into out rivalry with Mourinho himself as I don't think anyone needs education on the club rivalries

I love your post haha. And I hope you're right and we smash them up. But i certainly won't be crying a dull 1-0 is not "sufficient" if the final whistle blows and we've achieved that result.

I think Liverpool will set themselves up to play a lot like they did against Man City. I didn't think they had a prayer of keeping a clean sheet against that lot, but they really restricted them to very few opportunities. It was an ugly game to watch, but it does suggest they are quite capable of coming to Old Trafford and doing what we did to them on their turf. If that is the case, we don't want to be gifting them a 1-0 lead with an overly gung ho approach and giving them something to sit on.

But overall yeah I would be delighted if your words come true and we eviscerate, disembowel and annihilate them!!!!

Liverpool are incapable of parking the bus. They just can't do it. Their defence is porous, and Klopp's tactics are bound to leave gaping holes for us to exploit. There isn't any way Klopp can set his team up to get a clean sheet against Zlatan, Mata, Martial, Mhkitaryan, Rooney, and Pogba. It just won't happen. Gung ho attacking is all he knows and it is all he does.

We need to be focused and make sure we don't gift them an early goal like we did against Chelsea. We must CONCENTRATE and we must fight for every ball and we must not concede possession needlessly in dangerous areas. FOCUS is what's needed. And also every single UTD player needs to play like a man possessed. We go at them like demons. Like bats out of hell. While also retaining focus and concentration. We need to probe and shoot and test their keeper again and again. That is how we will bludgeon them into submission.

They're always everywhere today, that is the whole point of herrera and pogba, who are built to take on a high press game because both press teams, Mkhi always does his best to press, herrera and mkhi are practically a darren fletcher and park upgrades, just more talented, so on that front we have those kind of players

Pogba, martial, mkhi and zlatan must lick their lips in complete anticipation of that dodgy liverpool defense. If liverpool even tempt the gung ho style against this current united team, they will be punished. And that is what Jose will look into, the idea liverpool playing a high line, if they do mkhi, martial, zlatan and pogba will find gaps, and guys like herrera will find those pockets for our front players

It's good that you are aware that your team can't beat us. But we must not be contented to grind out a dull victory. We must go all out to rack up a rugby score. Only then will justice take its course. The league table isn't a reflection of which side is better. A monumental win will galvanize UTD and demoralize Liverpool and then maybe the table will soon begin to reflect the true quality of the teams. Liverpool are not legitimate title contenders.

I think Mourinho will Mourinho and sit back a bit today. It wouldn't be an inherently bad plan if we have pace on the counter, but I hope we give it to Liverpool and try take control of the game. I'm not sure Rooney fits either game plan in all honesty.

I expect Jose to set us up exactly as he did against Spurs. He would be happy to let Liverpool have the majority of the possession and put pressure on their midfielders when they get into dangerous areas. Winning the ball in midfield and releasing the ball quickly towards Mkhitaryan and Martial to run at their defence with their full backs pushed forward or hitting it long towards Zlatan and winning the second balls would be how he would want us to get high up the pitch.

I have seen a few people getting worried about Carrick's lack of mobility being exposed by Liverpool's press but I don't think Jose would ask his players to build attacks from deep. He would be asking De Gea to hit long whenever we have possession.

Did you watch the City game? Klopp went very negative and played almost the entire match without anyone in the centre forward position. I think he'll do the same today because he knows we are vastly superior to his team in pretty much every position through goalkeeper, defence, midfield and attack. If he does come to Old Trafford with an ambitious looking team and formation then yes we can really punish him and send them home bloodied and battered.

One things for sure, Mourinho is far too pragmatic to play Rooney for sentimental reasons. If he plays today it's because he has a specific role for Rooney and to be fair to Rooney, if he does one thing well it's follow specific instructions for big games.

This is why Mata MUST start this game. Mata is an expert at unlocking parked buses. And even if Klopp tries to park the bus, an early goal from us will cause him to revert to type, and play gung ho football trying to equalize. At that point we will have plenty of opportunities to rack up a rugby score against their porous defence.

Yes. Mata and Mhkitaryan to start. We should try to unlock their defence early. Martial can come on in the second half when they're tired (and they certainly looked tired as feck against Southampton). His pace will pose a serious problem for them especially with tired legs.

We need to try to score repeatedly. If we lead 1-0 we must not sit back. The objective of this game isn't just a win and 3 points. We need shock and awe. We need a symbolic and statement-making victory. We need to break Liverpool's resolve. This is non-negotiable. It has to be a comprehensive and emphatic ass-whooping the likes of which Liverpool have never experienced, even despite their long years of mediocrity. A repeat of our 8-2 win over Arsenal would be nice. A repeat of Jose's 6-0 win over Arsenal on Wenger's 1000th game would also be nice. We must not try to grind out a result and be satisfied with that.

We need to stop thinking that this is about three points. This is about crushing souls. We need to lay down a marker. This is non-negotiable, I repeat, a simple win is NOT sufficient. We need to send out a very clear statement.

Mourinho also ruined Gerrard's career in just one game. It's a shame. At one point Mourinho actually rated Gerrard and tried to sign him.

I might go with Martial, too, but Mata is in great form and he has a good record against Liverpool. Leaving out Mkhitaryan is an option as well... dunno. I'm okay with any combination of these three. Just no Lingard please.

Even a 3-1 victory is not enough. We have to unleash hell on them. Have Mata and Mhkitaryan run rings around their defence, while Zlatan serves as a battering ram to CRUSH their bus. Then, when the result is beyond doubt, bring on Martial, to add insult to injury and use his pace to torment them further. Lastly, bring on Rooney to score the record breaking goal from 40 yards out.
