He isnt good enough to be a starter because of the reason you give but because his competition isnt very good, Garnacho has become a starter with still some major flaws in his game.

Ten Hag was inept. I mean, it's not as if we've played swashbuckling stuff under Ruud or that he's reinvented the wheel - he's just made the simple/common sensical choices (and likely shown more warmth to the players)

Inept does not go far enough, his tactics last season were some of the unfathomably absurd ever seen at a professional level. Injuries were the best thing that happened to him, he could hide behind them up to a point.

I wanted ETH to succeed but Ruud has shown that keeping things simple was all that was needed at time. There is no tactical masterclass here just players in roles that suit them and some decent intent.

And it helps that our players now actually score the chances they get. I dont think the tactics or gameplan has changed that much yet.

I hope a role is found for him, especially as he will have a lot of information to give around players attitudes etc as he would have dealt with them under ETH. Certainly done his own manager ambitions no harm at all
