even before that purple patch, he was awful for a long time. He basically had one good period of 6 months inbetween 3-4 years of dreadful form.

I don't think he was amazing. I think he was average in a season in which nearly every other player significantly underperformed and/or spent large periods injured.
This is probably more like his level and we need better if we want to continue to improve - Mazraoui and Shaw levelAmad may or may not have saved my life idkHojlund has been really bad.
