Dalot starting today probably means AWB to start vs Barca. Will be interesting who starts against Newcastle.

From a 'winning the game' point of view, happy enough with the line up.

But as I'm, personally, more focused on the Barcelona second leg and the Cup Final, then I was hoping that Shaw and / or Rashford would be on the bench for this one as it's such a physically demanding schedule and I think we've got to treat them both a little like we're, correctly, treating Varane - the occasional break from the starting line up to, hopefully, avoid another injury.

Maybe Shaw filling in at CB at times, rather than always bombing up and down as a modern FB, is helping his body deal with the demands but feels like we're pushing our luck with him given his injury history?

Anyway, 'one game at a time', and that's a decent line up for this game.

Honestly, what the hell happened to Antony? I don't remember him taking a knock in any matches.

I don't like this line up.
Taking Leicester so lightly is dangerous.

Rash is in the form of his life. Resting him now is not the right thing to do. I would agree with taking him off early once the game is won but he should be starting all of these must win games.

People need to calm down about Weghorst. He's far from the quality od United striker, but he works hard (what is important if you have Rashford and Sancho on the wings) and helps us to keep shape. We've also been winning with him in the team, and it's not like we have an alternative. He will keep playing until the end of the season (as I wouldn't count on Martial being fit ever again) and then we'll part ways.

Think this could be Dalot's audition as he is better suited to play against Barca. He plays better against the press and offers aerial prowess against Barca's crosses.

For me, though, the upcoming 'must win' games are the second leg v Barcelona and the League Cup Final.

I don't see us in a title challenge, so, while I hate us losing or dropping any points, I think we can handle dropped points - as we did v Palace and Leeds - and still achieve our league objective. Whereas a loss v Barcelona or in the Cup Final unsuccessfully ends our Cup objectives in those competitions.

And, yeah, obviously Rashford is in great form, but I don't want to push him to the extreme so that he breaks down with an injury. And while the 'ideal' scenario, as some say pretty much every game, is start strong and sub when we've got the game won after 60 minutes - how often, realistically, are we ever out of sight in matches after an hour? That ideal scenario almost never plays out.

Superb management by ETH. Varane needs rest, Weghorst isn’t a goal machine but he works hard. Lots of energy in this XI.

What? The only real first team player who's on the bench is Varane. Maybe Sancho at a stretch but apart from that, its the strongest line up we can put out. :wenger:

Probably why Weggy plays every game

Its not that surprising given he ends up playing in midfield in the latter portions of each game with us putting Rashford up front to threaten in behind. He's essentially playing the Fred role at that point

Strong lineup. I'm glad to see Lindelof instead of Maguire as I was annoyed with his passing against Leeds. I expect Weghorst at 10, Garnacho left, Bruno right and Rashford up top. The question, as always, is will our midfield hold up?
