What sort of scouting was done before Fred was purchased?

You do realise that Fred is absolutely crap!
I mean really really bad. So bad, that he can barely make the bench and by rights shouldn't even be in the squad?
A striker like Vardy with his qualities against lindelof and maguire does not fill me with confidence.

That's how it goes around here. Everyone likes to over rate teams below us and under rate us. I can't believe that 2-1 Leicester is the leading vote on here right now. Talk about our supporters lowering their expectations so they don't get hurt....ugh
If we lose this, we are pretty much in relegation form. Not a blip, but happening since Ole became permanent manager. He really isn't.
He's here for the long haul. Our transfer dealings are an obvious indication that this is a long term plan.

LCFC are above us in the table. At this moment in time, they are the better team.
is AWB that injured? hope not!Rashford Martial
Pogba Matic McTominay James
Young Maguire Lindelof Dalot

No offence but neither does that team. Adding a third CB is an option (to give extra cover for nippy forwards) but not if you're also going to ignore proper defenders playing at wingback... Lingard and James would be a disaster. And the midfield....?!A striker like Vardy with his qualities against lindelof and maguire does not fill me with confidence.

So what you're saying is that no matter how many games in we are, the table never lies? Give your head a shake. So I guess that means Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Everton and West Ham are better than us too? But hey, at least we are better than Tottenham...
Pereira, Tielemans and Perez will have a field day in the attacking phase against Rashford, Pogba and Young. You can't field a team with zero defensive capabilities on half the pitch. It looks suicidal.

Since when did those players become world beaters?
I know it hurts seeing your team become what we have become. It frustrates the hell out of me, too. But don't avoid the fact that CP did beat us (at OT) and LCFC, based on current form are a better team than us. No ifs. No buts. MCFC and LFC are also better than us. It sucks I know, but until things change at boardroom level, expect this to continue.
Your beef is not with me, my friend. Your anger and frustration is at the club.
Selling 2 midfielders and not replacing them.
Selling a striker and not replacing them.
Spending less than £70M net for 2 Summers in a row.
Getting a manager who is unproven at the highest level and his only experience in the EPL is getting a team relegated.
When you combine all these together, it is no surprise that we are behind LCFC in the table and that we lost to CP a few weeks back.
Fred and McTominay > Matic and Pereira, Greenwood > Mata, Dalot/any kid > Lingard. The alternatives aren't any better.
Maddison, Tielemans and Ndidi are all upgrades on any of our midfielders except Pogba.
Don’t see us winning this game but with tough few games to come we desperately need a win. Leicester are one of the teams I can see edging us out of top six.
They never were. But this doesn't mean that you can neglect the defensive aspect of your game on the whole length of your left side. There always has to be balance in whatever plans you have made. There were numerous times in the past when opposition managers targeted Young's inability to defend properly in 1v1 (or in the air) and Valencia's suspect positioning at RB too. Imagine if you put Pogba, who's defensive positioning leaves a lot to be desired, and Rashford, who's generally not good at defending (even behind the ball) in front of Young. You're offering Rodgers an opening and Rodgers is a manager who can take advantage of such weaknesses.
Neglect? You're going on like they can't defend at all. If I put it as a 433, as opposed to a 442, I dont think you'd say anything.
That said, what we need to be doing is trying to exploit their weaknesses too. Hopefully, we hurt them more than they hurt us.
Fred and McTominay > Matic and Pereira, Greenwood > Mata, Dalot/any kid > Lingard.

I'm not saying that you're out of your mind. I enjoy reading your posts even when i don't agree with them. Let's get that straight.
I had in mind a starting lineup by Ole with very few, if any, tactical alterations and with Rojo/Young as FBs which would make the Match Thread explode. Then all the merry go round about who should play and how we should field the team etc. This is the main reason i quoted you.
I think that we will give them the initiative and we'll try to hit on the counter because the defensive organization isn't Rodgers' forte. Given our current state and the dire need for the three points, i wouldn't blame Ole for doing that. If you offer them spaces to exploit, they can create chances because this is what Rodgers is good at as a manager. We saw at SB how good they can be with room to exploit.
I would have the same issues with the 433 (reverse triangle) because Pogba would still have to track back the opposition FB instead of fighting it out with Ndidi in the midfield.
Fair enough.
What would you play then?
Except Pogba? we play with a 2 in midfield and I would say McT is not that much worse than Ndidi.
Ndidi is miles better, Mctominay doesn’t start regularly for more than 2/3 teams in the league, he’s bang average.
Pogba is only midfielder we have who has any quality. It’s comical how bad our midfield has become.

Having read all the posts in the threat it's obvious we've got absolute no chance, and we can't just not turn up on the day, so we might as well take the opportunity to throw a few kids in
Kovar
AWB Tuanzebe Maguire Williams
Garner McTominay
Greenwood Lingard Chong
Rashford
With James who'll probably get 180 minutes for the Welsh this International break, and Angel Gomes on the bench.
I dunno... Rashford IS the weakest link there...
