Not only that. At some point these players need to play and gain experience. Better to do it in a season where we seemingly are going nowhere, so when we do get to a decent team, we can expect them to perform on a consistent basis. Absolutely illogical team selection.

They'll get their chance to prove themselves in the upcoming cup games. If they perform well during those games maybe they can force themselves into the first eleven. Isn't that how it should be? Do you see any other team just throw unproven 18 year olds into the first eleven in an important game? We already have one of the youngest first elevens of any PL side as it is..

No pointing talk to these people. We have 3 academy players starting, 2 injured and 4 on the bench and ole 'has lied to us about the kids'.

If we played gomes and we didn't do well, which is very likely, then they would be the first to write him off and say he is championship and we need to sign whoever the flavour of the day is

The Class of '92 had brilliant coaching all through their careers, this team and these kids haven't had that advantage. Those teams were packed with world class talent. This team we struggle to agree on one world class player.
