There is no spot for Herrera in a 4231 as he's not better than Pogba in the more attacking role, and he isn't better than Matic in the holding role. People calling for Herrera out wide are mental and he's not a #10. The only way Herrera gets in the starting XI is if we play a midfield 3. That's not a knock on Herrera, it's just the way it is with the squad being improved. You could see it last season, we were ineffective with Herrera and Pogba when they played together in a midfield 2.

Agreed, I don't really understand where this idea he's poor on the right comes from. He's always looked equally good on either side for me.

I don't remember me praising him in any game he played on the right tbh. I always looked at him as a CF or a LW. He may be good in crossing on the right but I don't think he'll be the same good in penetration as he's on the left flank.

Delighted with Martial starting. Our bench looks bad though. If game is not going well there isn't a game changer in there, a far cry from the days when we had a Solskajer or Hernandez.

Rashford does run around a lot yes and often runs into blind alleys also and needs to learn to pass to his teammates more.

What you have said about Rash is correct, but bear in mind that he is only 19.
Even Messi at that age was not a regular starter and was not a player who could be relied upon.
All the comments you made are exactly what I'd expect of a 19 year old. I think Mbappe is probably the only exception - a teenager who does not suffer from these issues.

Mahrez is going to be the focal point of their counter attacks. Blind's going to have to get a bit of help from Martial or I reckon Utd'll be pretty vulnerable down that side. That said te Midfield and attack look pretty scary. 3 - 1 Utd.

Glad Martial's got his start though, fully deserves it.

Martial and Rashford play wide, as does Lingard, Mkhitaryan and Mata at present. Lingard can be an option as sub.

We played several games last season with Herrera in a midfield two, no way he stopped being useful in 4-2-3-1 just because we have Matić now. It's just the manager prefers a different kind of player there.

Anyone remembers what was the name Mourinho called Matić and Carrick as players, their function in the field?

After we got Lukaku, I did feel that we needed another striker. We have Ibra, but he is not available till January.
Let's hope we don't get injuries/suspensions, otherwise we could struggle.

It was definitely one of Mourinho's complaints last season, he used to left Darmian all by himself… He could have gotten better, though.
