Apparently we can now put 9 players on the bench.
This is making football more and more boring as it's easier. Choosing subs well pre-game is no longer part of the challenge, as does lowering down the value of having utility player. No more John O'Shea then.

At least people bitching on which players picked on the bench will be less common so less toxic...?

    Yeah right, it's easier indeed.

I have a feeling Ole is going to play Pogba in a deeper midfield two and that is going to cost us big time. He can’t track runners and Leeds specialise in getting midfield runners beyond the last line. I hope Ole will realise that and go with Fred and McTomminay and if he must then play Pogba on the flank.

I'm quite nervous about this one today.

This will be a high scoring game.

    De Gea
    AWB--Lindelof--Maguire--Shaw
    Fred--McTominay
    Bruno--Pogba
    Martial--Rashford
Is Ole going to play reactive to Leeds or is he going to execute his own "plan?"

He's been favoring a 4231 of late, and that looks a little narrow, the 4222. I think there's not enough defensive stability with Pogba and Martial probably both on the same side of the pitch; I think we'd get overrun. I think Leeds will be all over us like a rash anyway, and adding Pogba to that midfield would give us some beautiful moments and an awful lot of trying to win the ball back. I'd like to see VDB in there with Bruno, quick passes, flicks, etc., but who knows!

It should be a classic. 3-1 United.

    ------------------De Gea-------------------
    AWB--Lindelof--Maguire--Shaw
    -------McTominay ---- Fred----------
    Rashford-------- Bruno ------Martial
    ----------------Cavani-------------------

Big day today, we win and Spurs-Leicester draw and we'll be joint second on points with the Burnley game in hand.

We're not going to win, are we...

Can see Pogba starting and having a nightmare today. He'll do something that will lead directly to a Leeds goal. It's the natural Pogba cycle.

Hope we give Henderson another chance. The longer he stews on his last game the more nervous he'll become. Needs an opportunity for move on from it.

    I'd like to see:

    Henderson
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    VDB Fred
    Rashford Bruno Pogba
    Greenwood
Leeds are great on the press. I think having Pogba, McT or Matic in those deep roles could hurt us.

I agree! Leeds are set up to steal the ball off midfielders and Matic, Pogba especially can dwell too much in possession when we play out from the back!

Ignoring the rivalry and all the associated nonsense this has a lot of potential to be a rip roaring game.

I think we’ll enter this a bit more pragmatically and set up to prevent the counter. Leeds will be all over us from the whistle but we should be expecting that.

    Looking forward to this game.
So refreshing to see a newly promoted team take it to the big boys and no thought of parking the bus and Ole wants to entertain so it should be a spectacle.

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Fred
    McT Pogba
    Bruno
    Rashford Martial

Fred and McT have to play to match Leeds’ energy and cover the flanks, which Harrison, Rodrigo, Dallas, Alioski etc like to exploit, and Pogba’s in good form. Imo, this is a godd way to fit them all in with Bruno to give us the best chance of winning the match.

Prediction: Head says 3-3, heart says 4-3 us.

Leeds are so overhyped. Their defence is shit and can’t handle crosses. I will be disappointed if we don’t score atleast 3 goals on them.
3-1 United. (They will score first within 10 minutes obviously)

Mctominay and Fred will 100 percent play today in the middle unless Ole goes 5 at the back or they are injured. Bielsa will know this intuitively (or through pep spying over the fence) and will know what to do.

He won’t be playing Matic again and that leaves Pogba who he hasn’t played in the centre against a half decent team for a while now.

If pogba is to play it will be a similar position to that which he played in the city game but slightly further forward.

This will be difficult, our team doesn’t start well but funnily enough I think we will today and it will be like the city game.

1-1 Cavani and Greenwood to come on as subs.

Ideally we wait until 4th July so he can serve one game in the cup. On the downside he won’t be available against pool. So if possible Aston Villa wolves and Watford in the cup would be my choice

Bielsa spending his whole week trying to figure out Ole's tactics , he is in for a surprise when he realises that even Ole hasn't figured them out yet.

We need to study a bit the question.
The Liverpool game is on Jan 17th.
The 3 games before that are: Wolves on Dec 29th, Aston Villa Jan 1st, Watford Jan 9th (FA cup).
And before that, we have Leicester Dec 26th.
Maybe we go for Leicester and decide to remove Wolves, Aston Villa and Watford, and we have him available for Liverpool?

Because against big teams, having him available as an option is going to add one level of unpredictability in the lineup, that is always useful. Otherwise, our lineup self picks itself and it's too easy.

I probably agree that McT and Fred should probably play and while they won't lose the ball in the same way Pogba will, neither of them are press resistant and both of them could have a bad day. I remember last season (or the season before) against Watford at home they pressed Fred to death and he gave away the ball numerous times.

I think we can win this with nice score. Leeds is bad defensively, easily exposed on quick counter. As long as our forwards are being clinical, we are good to go. McT & Fred will play to defend their attack.

Fred for Pogba please. Pogba will not get a second on the ball and will not track the runners. Hope Ole gets the lads pumped. Leeds will come at us like a house on fire!

For some reason I'm absolutely confident we will give Leeds a good spanking. 4-1.

Not good for us then. Hope the lads are more confident.
It was more a tongue in cheek comment, but having watched Leeds in their last match, and considering how bad we’ve begun games pretty much all this season, a clinical Leeds could be out of sight before we register a shot on goal.
We have the better squad and more quality but they have a superior manager and playing style which is let down by a touch of quality.

I dispute the superior manager side. Bielsa is a god but he never wins leagues titles or anything, because it’s very principle based. I would be surprised if they beat us.

And the play style is just one that counter presses a lot but so do we so let’s see. We just have to not sleep for the first 20mn.
