Because he's better in every aspect than Cleverley? I don't even think Cleverley is a better passer than him. Maybe in long passes, but that's debatable.
Lingard is better at short passing, link-up play, shooting, finishing, dribbling, more press resistant, better big game player too, better spatial awareness, etc. What exactly does Cleverley do better?
