Wouldn't like to see Rooney wide or Fellaini/ Pereira that far back, I'd rather see..

    Darmian - Smalling - Blind - Young
    Schneiderlin - Herrera
    Pereira - Rooney - Fellaini
    Martial

Less players out of position, I changed Schneiderlin for Valencia. Also we don't tend to play a flat 433 anymore, but if you played Herrera & Pereira in front of a DM like Schneid/ Carrick/ Schwein then Pereira could play well ..

EDIT: I'd rather see Pereira in the hole and 1 of Lingard/ Wilson on the wing but that might be underestimating Ipswich

I want a strong team and a win. League Cup is often neglected but if you look at 2000s then both Chelsea and United best teams started off by winning League Cup which propelled them to future success. I remember at the time of our 2006 triumph there had been a lot of comparisons drawn to Chelsea's win in 2005 which instilled winning mentality into the team.

I have no clue who's going to play or how we're going to lineup, I'm hoping to get 8/9 out of 11.

Not sure how he is gona get that 18 man squad without wilson or lingard but im expecting something like this

    De gea
    Darmian Smalling Bling Young
    Schweinsteiger Herrera
    Pereira Fellaini Depay
    Rooney

    Sub : Romero , Martial , Mata , Carrick, jhones ,valencia,Schniederlein

Thats the only way i thing the team can be made. Frankly Smalling, Martial & blind could do with a rest. No need of carrick in this match . Thats three spots for the youth , but he wont take the chance

With playing 3 times in the next week, I don't expect Rooney or Martial to start tonight, Rojo and McNair injury is a blow but we have bigger things to concentrate on.

Wilson isn't in the squad? Going to edit my team for the third time then.

We have only 17 fit senior players so at least one youth player is going to be on the squad anyway, most likely Pereira.I would rest Blind, maybe put Carrick at CB.After Shaw and Rojo's injuries Blind's pretty much irreplaceable.

Blind , Smalling , Martial definitly needs a rest ..The same for mata and depay..too much football will hurt us and defintly needs some rotation. God knows whats in LVG's mind

Sorry if already asked but is this on sky/bt/itv/bbc??

Or do i have to go to the bar for a bloody league cup game!

Only SKY have rights to league cup games in the UK/Ireland and they are not showing the game

Is this game being shown on TV? (UK).

    EDIT: got my answer above.

I think it's vital we try and win this competition. We would risk going 3 seasons without a trophy. That's not acceptable..

First signs of having a shallow squad.... and the league cups just started. God knows if we'll be ok when fa cup and champs league is in full swing too.

LvG is saying Rojo has "kept quiet" about an injury. The guy seems like a clown.

Praying that Smalling is over the injury proneness that has had him in and out of the side over the last 4 years or so. He's been totally reliable so far, but we'll be stuffed without him.

Looks like we'll be forced to play a lot of the first choice back four tonight then.. Like most, I'm surprised to see no Wilson or Lingard in the squad. Looks like the only 'youth' player involved in the squad at all will be Pereira, but I don't think he'll start either. Injury has forced his hand in regards to McNair, but I think the MK Dons result is going to mean we play a strong team in this game.

    de Gea
    Valencia Smalling Blind Darmian
    Schweinsteiger
    Herrera Fellaini
    Martial Rooney Young
    ---
Romero; Jones; Carrick, Schneiderin, Pereira, Mata; Memphis

I can't think of anyone else? This must be the entire squad we have available for this match if we aren't taking Lingard, Wilson, or Varela..

I can see maybe Carrick playing a hour at CB, or Young at LB making room for a Memphis or Mata start.. Maybe he'll stick with the two holding players also.. Tough one tonight but I think the likes of Valencia, Herrera, Fellaini, and Young need to start and play 90 minutes for the most-part.

I noticed that. If that is true he won't be very popular with LvG.

Want to win the competition. I don't know why LVG is not considering Lingaard or Wilson but we have to trust he's not a numpty.

He does strike me like an idiot, even for a footballer.. I would rather see McNair get minutes ahead of him (at CB at least) to be honest.

    de Gea
    Varela Smalling Blind Young
    Schneiderlein
    Herrera Fellaini
    Valencia Martial Memphis

    Romero
    Valencia Smalling Blind Darmian

    Pereira Rooney Young
Something like that. I think we'll rest De Gea, Carrick, Schweinsteiger, Martial and Mata. If Jones is OK to start I could see him starting instead of Smalling.

    Same. And Jones.

I did like Rojo last season, and he had some good games. Every time he's in the news, it seems to be for something a bit stupid. Going on strike at Sporting, the alleged assault charges, the passport stuff, and now he's not told anyone he was injured - unless LvG has mixed up his words, as he sometimes does.

Yes, agreed. Hopefully he'll come off the bench and get a few minutes tonight!
