Ipswich Town FC nicknamed The Blues, and The Tractor Boys, are a professional football club based in Ipswich, Suffolk, England; and were founded in 1878 as Ipswich Town Association Football Club at the instigation of T.C. Cobbold of the famed brewing family, before the eventual merger with Ipswich Rugby Club to form Ipswich Town Football Club in 1888, and turning professional in 1936. Ipswich Town play their home games at Portman Road, and have an intense rivalry with Norwich City in a match termed the East Anglian Derby, both sides having faced each other a total of 132 times since 1902. Although Ipswich Town have competed in the lower leagues in recent season, they have a proud history - having never lost a European tie at home - while facing the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Internazionale; being one of only 23 clubs to be crowned the Champions of English football, apart from winning the UEFA Cup, the FA Cup; and being managed by two icons of English football - Alf Ramsey and Bobby Robson.

    Historic Meetings

Manchester United's 9-0 dismantling of Ipswich Town in 1995 still stands as the all time Premier League record for margin of victory.

Oh good shit. Had no idea this was this week.

Hoping to see an exciting youthful line up.
    Memphis needs a break.
Rooney should play just so he can hopefully gain some confidence and club form.
Pereira and Wilson will hopefully make an appearance.

With all that being said, I want to win. Last thing we want to see is another MK Dons.

Hoping to see Wilson start this. Rest Martial.

Don't go full youth, have a nice mix and get a few goals early. Can't wait to see Pereira for this.

You would presume Herrera and Fellaini and Wilson will start. Pereira as well. Apart from that I have absolutely no idea what the team will be.

    Want Pereira and Wilson starting.

Don't mind any combination with the rest.

Hope to see Pereira and Wilson start. Herrera too. Don't change the back 6 too much.

    United - 0 - 4 Ipswich

    De Gea
    Valencia McNair Rojo Blind
    Herrera Schneiderlin
    Mata Pereira Young
    Rooney/Wilson
I would obviously keep Martial and Memphis on but I think Van Gaal will rest them so they don't burnout and to manage them properly.

Is Mick Mccarthy still the manager there? They are pretty decent from what little I know.. Van Gaal won't play a severely weakened side... not that we have enough players to do that any way.

    De Gea
    Valencia McNair Rojo Borthwick-Jackson
    Herrera Bastian
    Lingard Pereira Young
    Wilson
    Subs: Goss,Harrop,Fosu-Mensah

Think Fellaini will be in there somewhere.

Hhmm ring the changes or play as close to our best XI as we need to win a trophy this season...

Give Memphis and Martial a break please.

    Wilson and maybe Lingard?

Definitely want to see Pereira there too. I think BFS should also play.

    De Gea/Johnstone

    Valencia - McNair - Blind - Rojo

    Herrera - Schneiderlin

    Young - Rooney - Pereira

    Wilson

Don't give a toss. Just play the entire u21's.

We can't waste valuable energy of our top players on this tournament when we have the Champions League as well.

Pereira and Wilson etc will not play in the league or CL unless we are down to the bare bones, this competition and the F.A. Cup will be vital for them and to get players who don't always play full games extra minutes.

I think he'll be vary of making too many changes after MK Dons last season.

People keep talking about MK Dons yet did they remember what kind of back 5 did we play against them?Plus the midfield two.

We'll have 4 games in the next 2 weeks. It's necessary to heavily rotate on this game.Rather this than PL/CL games.

Will there be a stream for this? I know it's not on tv in the UK and some FA Cup/League Cup games are not broadcasted anywhere

I'll take a punt on the team being:

    De Gea

    Valencia
    Smalling
    McNair
    Rojo

    Schneiderlin
    Herrera

    Wilson
    Fellaini
    Young

    Rooney

    Romero
    McNair
    Rojo
    Blind
    Valencia
    Herrera
    Schneiderlin
    Pereira
    Young
    Fellaini
    Wilson

    subs: Lingard, Varela, Rooney.

Give Pereira minutes please. Perfect for him.

We need a trophy..look at City and Chelsea in recent years, this has been the trophy that has kicked off their dominance of sorts.

Plus I'm desperate for that first Post Fergie trophy.
Not sure it really made a difference to City or Chelsea. Arsenal's FA Cup wins aren't doing them much good elsewhere.

Can understand the desperation for a trophy but I'm a snob. There's only two that I really care about United winning.

    Community Shield?

Well, Liverpool have won this trophy more than us..Here's another reason to win it! ...And the Glory Glory Man United song, one can actually sing the full lyrics again...

    Just the league and UCL?

Why do people want to play a full strength team?

The only regulars should be Rojo, Young, Fellaini and Herrera. If our young players can't beat Ipswich at home then we got issues.

Our big focus should be the premier league especially Sunderland. As Man City play Spurs away and could drop points.
