Martial gets two assists in one game and gets dropped. Right, makes sense.

He played 90 minutes 3 days ago and we have Leicester away 3 days from now. I would like him to start every game but if I have to chose where to have him I would rather have him start in away game where he can exploit more space. At least we have proper option or 2 up front to rotate a bit in the following insane schedule we are going to have, unlike in the mid...

Strong lineup. Probably in a minority preferring Rashford to start. Martial/Mata can work well as impact subs if we haven't wrapped it up in 2H.

If Martial plays on Sunday this makes sense. Why play 3 games in 7 days? Probably means Rashford and Miki won't play v Leicester.
Martial won't be playing Sunday, Jose gave him his chance against Wigan and didn't do enough to impress it seems. We'll probably see him start again against Blackburn.

Jose said as much to be fair.

He went even further he said Martial
would not be starting and would be on the bench so i don't understand why anyone thought otherwise

I would have preferred 4-2-3-1 with Mata as the 10. I don't think three central midfielders is necessary at home against Hull City. Rashford is much better as a substitute.

I agree Martial will start against Leicester, unless Rashford plays in such a way that he's undroppable, i.e., magnificent.

I'd argue the midfield was where we lost the game against them last week, I think it makes sense to have 3 there.

Martial being dropped wouldn't be that big a deal if Jose wasn't dressing it up as being due to poor performance. He could easily have said Martial is doing great but he's going to give Rashford a go in this game. It would be fine and nobody would bat an eyelid. No idea why he needs to invite speculation.

Either way it's good to see Rashford get some minutes. Martial is at least on the bench this time where he can make an impact if needed. Dropping him from the squad those times was seriously dumb

11/11. And while I am having all the luck, I predict us comfortably win this 3-0.

Oh how I'd hate for anyone to PM me a good ace player link for this with English commentary

    Where's Shaw?

Less than 3-0 and they are taking the piss :p

Thought it would've been a great chance to give Martial some momentum, same with Shaw. They are unquestionably our strongest options for the left side, it's not even close, though I understand the reasons I guess. Hopefully they both start v Leicester though.

Was also hoping for Mata to start, no point in Carrick today I think, but oh well.
Agree on Martial but Shaw looks miles away from the player he was at the start of last season and we haven't got any easy fixtures to use hope that he gets back to that level. Blind is far better than Darmian.

It is Hull at home. I don't understand why we don't put Rash, Miki and Martial behind Zlatan. I think Pogba has been good when paired with Herrera/Carrik and pretty shite when played behind Zlatan. Also would have wanted Shaw at leftback. Enough of the moaning, come on UNITED

Last time Martial started an away game was at the start of December. Will likely be Rashford and Mkhi again. Maybe Mata coming back into the team.
Yeah, can't see Martial starting against Leicester either. I'd even say Lingard would probably start over him for that game, too.

Pogba will be in the ten channel.

Fine with playing Blind. Not happy about Martial being dropped. Should still be enough though.

Seeing Blind at LB is my biggest issue, he's really not very good there at all. He'll get torn to pieces again tonight, I wish Jose would try him in midfield or keep him as a rotation option for CB. I don't trust him at all.

Hull: Jakupovic, Robertson, Maguire, Meyler, Huddlestone, Clucas, Dawson, Niasse, Tymon, Evandro, Markovic

Subs: Marshall, Hernandez, Ranocchia, Elabdellaoui, Maloney, Diomande, Bowen

2 holding midfielder vs the mighty Hull and no Shaw or Martial

    Mourinho is not good enough
You spout this kind of nonsense every single matchday thread.

You're entitled to your opinion of course but

    1. Why should Shaw start? He has been bobbins everytime someone has given him a chance. Plus he looks overweight to me.

    2. Herrera isn't a holding midfielder. It's a midfield consisting of Carrick who will hold, Herrera Box to Box and Pogba as the 10.

    3. We sack Jose. Who do we hire tomorrow? Who will come in and whisk us up to 1st spot?

That's where his best work happens. Shooting inconsistent and not very good going forward in general.
But he's not a holding midfielder and Mourinho doesn't use him as one.

You'll say just about anything to whinge about Mourinho :boring:

Played 90 minutes in first game returning from injury a few days ago. Mourinho will take the patient approach with him. Next start will probably be in the cup again.
    Ok that makes sense.
