I wouldn't really think bad about players wanting to have a time off for Xmas. I mean that is why we have a big squad for. And it is just for one day. A few of them can be given off depending on whether the manager thinks he can still get the team to play well with the rest of the squad.

Last most recent time their combo isn't that bad. And if we dialed it back even further, Bailly-Lindelof is quite good. Both of those excel in high press system.Interesting that DDG is Captain. Good decision. Good news that Valencia failed to make the squad again.The Lingard/Rashford combination is the most important aspect of our team at the moment. Keeping those two together is going to be vital.
Martial has more individual quality than either, but he's a less integral player to Ole's XI. Mata coming in won't change our team too much, imo. It's just one relatively static but excellent finisher coming in for another (though a level or two worse).
I reckon it'll be a similar showing to the Cardiff game.

It's not bad. It's terrible. Lindeof needs physically dominant cb with him and Bailly is always all over the place with his positioning and bad in aerial duels, basically, Bailly exposes all weaknesses in Lindelof instead of covering them. If Lindelof is playing it will always be Jones and Smalling.Martial on the bog. Fecking Frenchies and their weird food.

Weird possibility: Mata could be central and play as the fulcrum for Rashford and Lingard on either side. I'm not sure if it's likely, but it would suit his qualities.

I expect a lot of rotation up front and in midfield as Ole gives everyone a chance. But Martial and possibly Fred will likely cement their starting spot soon enough. I reckon Martial has been rested for this game actually.

Wish it were Herrera instead of Matic for a better press, and was hoping to see one of Lukaku/Sanchez, but happy with that lineup. It's not going to be an easy game, but I am looking forward to the football.

Only question mark is Mata if he is shunted out wide. Hopefully has sense to play him behind Rashford and Lingard, with the full backs once again providing width

I'm not really a fan of the goalkeeper being captain, I prefer it to ve a CB or CM. Saying that, we need leaders all over the pitch and the armband shouldn't be the only reason for providing motivation, inspiration and suppprt to your teamates
