We have to win our two remaining game to get qualififed. If we don't win this one, we won't.

But we also have to rest one or two players for West Ham on Sunday too. Everytime we played Thursday, we were crap on Sunday.

So we changes from the Ars game, and hopefully resting one or two for West Ham

    --------------------------------------De Gea---------------------------------------
    Darmian-----------------------Jones---------Rojo---------------------------Shaw
    -----------------------------------Schneiderlin------------------------------------
    ---------------------------Herrera-------------Pogba-----------------------------
    Lingard-------------------------------Rooney-----------------------------Martial

    De Gea
    Valencia - Jones - Rojo - Blind
    Herrera - Pogba
    Lingard - Mkhitaryan - Martial
    Zlatan

Think that's what I'd play. Must win game.

    -------------------De Gea----------------

    Valencia-----Jones----Rojo-------Shaw

    --------------------Blind------------------

    ------------Hererra----Pogba------------

    Mata-------------------------------Rooney

    -------------------Zlatan-------------------

Leave the back 4 alone (apart from darmian), Save carrick for Sunday and let Blind do that job. Use Rashford / Martial from the bench when we are 2 up.

I'd like to see us stick with the 4-3-3 but with Carrick almost certainly not playing I imagine we'll be back to the 4-2-3-1 with Herrera and Pogba in midfield, Mata at #10 and Ibra up top, just not sure who'll be on the flanks, probably Lingard on the right but it could be any of Martial/Rashford/Rooney on the left..

I genuinely feel it would be best for us to lose and get out of the EL asap. Our league form is really suffering.
CFC and LFC have no EL football and as a result are doing well.
Yes, because the Europa League is the crux of our woes. Shall we get out of League Cup and FA Cup 3rd Round in Jan? We'll have finished the season by Jan then and can focus on meandering our way to fifth or sixth.

feck me, I'd rather not turn into Spurs thanks.

If we play like we did the last couple games this should be a comfortable win. But the only thing we're consistent with for the last few seasons is inconsistency...

I know its tempting to want to rest players with West Ham in mind, but sometimes its more important to get the team playing well. I'd be minded to put out basically our strongest team and try and put in another good performance like the weekend. Play at that level again and we'd be well capable of putting 2 or 3 past Feyenoord. A good win and a good performance, and we'd go into the West Ham game with a spring in our step.

If players like Memphis and Mkhi can't be trusted to play well against a Dutch league team, why bother having them on the squad?

    Lingard/Mkhi/Memphis/Rooney to start.

    ...............DDG
    Darmian Jones Rojo Shaw
    ...............Blind
    ...........Herrera Pogba
    .....Mkhi Zlatan Lingard

    Won't happen though

Get the impression Jose would be fine with leaving the Europa League so would expect him to rest a few guys & hopefully give some time to the youth guys who were knocking on the door last season.

    ------------------DDG---------------
    Darmian -- Rojo - - Jones -- Shaw
    -------------Schneiderlin-----------
    Lingard - Miki -- Fellaini - Depay
    -----------------Ibra----------------

Obviously needs to be a win by a couple of goals if we want to have a chance of advancing here. I think it's worth playing a strong side and giving it a go. I don't exactly think we can walk this tournament if we decide we want to win it, and I don't think that's the way most fans are thinking. However, I think the players would take it more seriously once it gets to the knockout stages. After dropping points against Arsenal, I think its quite important that we win this game and at least avoid defeat against Zorya. Despite me saying this, I'd still rest Carrick for the League matches.

    Valencia Jones Rojo Blind
    Herrera Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Rooney Martial

Mkhitaryan looking like either starting this game or getting a decent amount of time off the bench going by the breaking stories on Twitter.

Would love him to try Blind at DM. Herrera and Pogba have no problem playing twice a week so we need to find a solution when Carrick is missing and Blind seems the best fit by far to me.

Barring that he might as well throw Schweinsteiger in.

    MOURINHO: MKHITARYAN WILL FACE FEYENOORD
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan will play on Thursday night when Feyenoord visit Old Trafford in the Europa League.

The Armenia international joined from Borussia Dortmund in July and has only made six competitive appearances in all competitions since then, partly due to a couple of unfortunate injuries but also because the manager feels his recruit requires more time to adapt to the rigours of English football.

Mkhitaryan watched from the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand on Saturday as the Reds drew 1-1 with Arsenal in the Premier League. However, the boss has since revealed a plan for the 27-year-old forward.

Asked by reporters if Mkhitaryan is closer to playing, Mourinho said: “Yes. I told him today [Saturday] that he is going to be involved in the game against Feyenoord. He is trying. Obviously he is not happy but he is transforming his frustration in a good way, which is to close the mouth, work hard and try to adapt.

“I told him ‘this was not the game for you’ because I don't think he needs 10 or 20 minutes from the bench. I said ‘I think you need a good game and you need to either start or, if not, to come for the second half’. He needs less pressure and better conditions for him to express his qualities.”

Mkhitaryan’s appearance adds further intrigue to Thursday’s big game against Feyenoord, the Eredivisie leaders who beat United in the reverse fixture earlier in the Europa League campaign.

The Reds are currently third in Group A with six points from 12 and require a victory under the Old Trafford floodlights in order to leapfrog the second-placed Dutch club into the two qualification places, ahead of the final pool game against Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk in December.

Out of curiosity, is there a negative record we could possibly break if we lose on Thursday?
In our last game, it was the first time since the 90s, when we drew 3 home league games in a row.
I think in the next 7 days we shall see another negative record - either against Feyenoord or our next league game.

I genuinely feel it would be best for us to lose and get out of the EL asap. Our league form is really suffering.

Yes, no team in the history of football has ever done well in their domestic league whilst also playing in the Europa League.
Also every team in history who haven't played in the Europa League have done well in their domestic league.
Can't argue with these hard facts, let's go out of the EL!

    MOURINHO: MKHITARYAN WILL FACE FEYENOORD...

Delighted. I just hope that we don't surround him with too many squad players and blunt his performance. You see the best of a player when he's got quality around him, and given that Mkhi must (I would guess) be low on confidence, I'd want him surrounded by players like Mata, Pogba, Herrera, etc so the whole game doesn't rest on his shoulders.

Simply have to win this match. If we don't win this, the caf will go into a meltdown.

Zaltan ? He is injured ?

Everybody fit and you put these in , Why ?
Bastian will never play for United again. The other 2 will be very lucky to be even on the bench.

Bastian can prove an option for us especially if we don't get rid of him. Depay might find his footing (finally) while TFM is quite a great talent

If we're out of the Europa league so be it. We can focus on the EPL.

Basti is not named in the EL player list by United.

Let's play the way we did against Arsenal, you know, because that was a resounding success and we were great to watch...

If we play like we played against AFC, for every league game. I think we could win the title. AFC who going into that game were one of the best teams in the league and we made them look pretty average.

The problem is that in our away games, we can't play anywhere near that standard. We do dominate our home games, though.

I really hope Mkhitaryan can show us a good game. He's not had it easy, and a performance would do him good. Mainly for him and the team, but also for this forum.

I hope we get too see some youngsters, at least on the bench. Fosu-Mensah maybe, if he isn't injured. Or anther one of the defenders, such as Tuanzebe.

I'll be interesting to see whether fringe players like Memphis and Schneiderlin get any game time, neither has impressed much so far. If Fellaini is injured and Carrick rested, the latter may have a fair chance at starting.
