    Mourinho on Liverpool
“We didn’t get the result we wanted. We anted to win and we only got a point so we were not 100% successful and I think you are very fair with Liverpool because Liverpool had a fantastic defensive performance.

“For the first time they played with two defensive midfielders and took a striker off to play another midfielder. The 0-0 result was because two teams were very good defensively.”

    On Mkhitaryan
“Mkhitaryan was injured, he is not injured any more and is training without any limitations.

“I cannot confirm if he will play tomorrow but he is fit and it is time for him to go back to the levels we know he can achieve.”

    Mourinho on Zlatan
”I am really happy. He is giving us exactly what we need from him, what we expect from him.

“He is fit and always ready to play. The young guys look up to him and that’s great because he can only influence them positively.”

We should rest Pogba I feel. He's played so much football in the past year, don't want to risk burning him out.

Want him to be fresh and ready to go for Chelsea.

    Don't expect too much rotation
“Tomorrow we will play with a team that has a chance to win and if we do not play with a team that is not good or strong we don’t have a chance.

“We have to play with a good team knowing that two days’ later we have to play in the Premier League.”

    NOT FOOLED BY FENER'S START
Fenerbahce have struggled at the start of the league season but Jose declared: "They will be where they have to be at the end of the season. The Turkish league is getting better and better, with teams outside Istanbul coming through, but Fenerbahce will be where they need to be. I look to the manager and I see experience, I look to the players and I see quality."

Mourinho on Rashford playing in the England u21s next summer
“The reports didn’t arrive at my office! So we don’t know.

“We are in mid-October. The Championships would be in the summer and we will wait and see what happens. if the player becomes a regular in the senior national team, development in the u21s makes no sense.

“If he is an u21 player then he is an u21 player and there is no discussion. if he becomes a regular choice for Southgate then we have to speak.”

    MORE ON FENERBAHCE
"It’s a big team and a difficult opponent," Jose continued. "Tomorrow we are going to play with a team that has chances to win and if we play with a team that is not good and strong, we don’t have a chance. To have a chance, we have to play with a good team, knowing that two days later we have to play in the Premier League."

    Mourinho: No players are untouchable
On the idea he had “untouchable” players during his time at Chelsea:

“That was 11 years ago, a different Premier League and situation. The best team by far.

“Untouchable in our team has to be the spirit, the commitment, the pride, the commitment to the club, respect to the fans, that has to be untouchable, not players.”

Shaw on Mourinho criticism after Watford
“I have said before, I’m a grown man and take what the manager said.

“I’m still young and need to take on board what he says and improve.

“I was disappointed with the result but not what the manager said.”

    Shaw ready to go
“It’s been good to rest the groin but I want to play every game and hate missing matches.

“I’m back now and ready to fight for my place.”

    Lots of love for Zlatan

    Shaw:

“When I came in there was a few big leaders that left.

“But if you look at the squad we have some experienced ones as well as younger players like myself. Ibra brings a lot to the dressing room. He tells so many jokes and everyone wants to listen.

“It’s good for squad morale. I think it’s starting to show on the pitch that we are more together now as a team.”

Very odd that Shaw has been confirmed for tomorrow but Micky still have fitness concerns.

Sounds like Mourinho pretty much confirmed in his own words that he's fully fit and expected to start. Him not confirming outright means little when you read what he's said around it.
    On Mkhitaryan
“Mkhitaryan was injured, he is not injured any more and is training without any limitations.

“I cannot confirm if he will play tomorrow but he is fit and it is time for him to go back to the levels we know he can achieve.”

I hope we rest some players.
    Romero
    TFM-Smalling-Blind-Shaw
    -----Carrick-Morgan------
    Mikhi---Mata---Lingard
    ---------Martial------------

Don't think we'll rest as many as everyone thinks. We need to win this.

Out of those which do you think are actual wingers? As opposed to #9s #10s or inside forwards for example?

I don't think all players are exclusively one thing, but I think all of those players except Mata can consider the wing one of their current legitimate options. Of course eventually Martial will be a #9, but he's a great dribbler who can beat a man and does really well when he gets to the goal line, and all the great stuff he's done for us has been as a winger. Rashford spent almost all his development as a true winger, and currently looks more comfortable to me there, with the space to face his opponent and try and beat him, than he does with his back to some big lump of a CB. Whether he'll eventually become a #9, I don't know. Lingard is like Miki - a playmaker, yes, but one who does better work with a bit more space out wide to utilise his pace. Depay and Young are obviously both wingers.

Nothing obvious about Depay being a winger. Most on the Caf would say he is more suited as a forward in a 4-3-3. He hasn't shown the quality to be a good 2nd choice winger. Young for me also doesn't have the quality to be a good second choice winger. Rashford maybe deserves a chance there, but similar to Martial, or even Depay, he is best when cutting in and trying to shoot or one two than hug the wing, beat his man and put a cross in. He may well have been a winget once and maybe could become one again but it would be a waste of his clinical finishing imo.
The two main wingers are Martial and Mickey. Lingard is more of a central midfielder to me. When our two main wingers are out our wings lack pace, penetration and threat. Admittedly they can be defensively strong which might be more suited for some games. But we need better more offensive and traditional backup. I think the Academy might have such types, but don't know if they are physically ready yet.

My major doubt about the team lineup for tomorrow concerns Martial availability for the right-wing. If he's not ok, I have my doubts if Mourinho wants to play Lingard there, after his performance against City.

Don't think we'll rest as many as everyone thinks. We need to win this.

It was more in hope than expectation tbh. I want us to do well in the EL but we have to prioritise the league and with Chelsea away next we need to have fresh players. Plus some players need match fitness but I agree, we won't rest that many.

The criteria for dropping players might be if they featured in the international games and the against Liverpool, like Valencia, Blind, Pogba (but not so much De Gea or Bailly). Also, I'm not sure Mourinho thinks Herrera can start three games in six days.

    Romero
    Darmian--TFM--Rojo--Shaw
    Carrick--Schneiderlin
    Mkhitaryan--Mata--Martial
    Rooney

Subs: Johnstone, Smalling, Blind, Fellaini, Pogba, Lingard, Memphis

If not Miki then Memphis to start.

Hopefully we score a few and get some confidence starting up. This season has been so disjointed. I suppose that would be expected given how shite we were last year and how much new blood we have got in. Still, would be nice to see in the Europa League us have a go at playing some attacking, free-flowing football. That last game was a pile of wank.

We need to win as I work for a Turkish company and won't be able to take the shite if we lose.

    FENERBAHCE'S EMERGENCY LANDING
Fenerbahce's plane has been forced to make an emergency landing in Budapest, according a tweet posted on their official account a short while ago.
