I meant the quarter final against Seville.ETH just doesn’t rate Fred then?Is this the game Casemiro is suspended on his 4-game ban?
I suspect EtH doesn’t feel he can play in the 6 role without Casemiro. He’s given some mixed performances when he’s not been available with him.
That said I do think he could have been useful today in terms of pressing and turning the ball over higher up the pitch. I guess that would mean playing him, Sabitzer and Mctominay though and involve Bruno from the right.our last 10 games v Everton have not been good.

I think it's that ETH sees McTominay as Casemiro's replacement in defensive situations, but he's then so bad on the ball that he has to play Bruno in the deeper midfield to give more playmaking ability than Fred brings. I presume Fred will still be the preferred option next to Casemiro until Eriksen is ready to start properly.
Yes he's suspended for this game because he got sent off domestically and this is a domestic game.
Fred isn't a number 6 like Casemiro and McTominay is better there, and ten Hag prefers a ball player as the 8. As good as Fred has been, and he will certainly play a massive part between now and the end of the season, he falls into neither of these categories. As a result, it means he will find himself on the bench more often than not.Fantastic to see Eriksen return. He's a typical, 'up n' at 'em' centre forward. Obviously Maguire in for Varane is always a concern but it was always coming as we know they won't overplay Varane.Hope we smash them today. We go for it.

Again, people are picking out McTominay for being 'bad on the ball' but fail to realise ten Hag has played Fred and Sabitzer in those deeper positions, and it has equally been as chaotic, if not worse.
The key is finding a balance, and two of Fred, Sabitzer and McTominay as the pivot is not a balanced midfield, simply because they are all number 8's. Having Bruno in there, whilst traditionally a number 10, has allowed us to dictate games a bit better. Hopefully, we will see the same today.
Thank god for that correction. 2 wins in 10 against them sounded terrible! I’d love nothing more than a fast start, a couple of early goals and going into HT with at least a 2-0 lead. Push for a third in the 2nd half and then start bringing in some of the reserve team to get some rest.
