I'm always optimistic when it comes to my predictions, except for when we played against Chelsea in the second fixture, and I have predicted a win each time. But this time i've gone for a draw, my confidence in our team has waned a great deal and I eagerly await the Summer transfer window to see what changes we make to get our squad good again.

Unfair to call West Brom pathetic, it was us who were that.

If Koeman has any sense he'll defend deep and they're guaranteed a point.
They defended with 9-10 men, excluding the keeper, the entire game, it was anti-football and makes them a pathetic team.

Away at "fortress old Trafford" you can hardly blame them. I'm sure they are delighted with a point.

Problem is ourselves, not the opposition.

Yeah, they're over the moon but I find playing for a draw such a ridiculous part of football.

    They will smash us

Don't want to appear too pessimistic but I can definitely see this happening.

It appears there is a clear blueprint to beating/ getting points off this Jose Manchester United team.

Step 1: Sit back, easily soak up the pressure whilst United predictably come forward with pointless possession, sideways passing, over/underhit crosses and telegraphed attacking moves. Stay narrow - they have no natural width. Concede corners if necessary - as many as you want - there is no chance they'll take advantage (ranked 18th in scoring from set pieces in the league this season - only just above the mighty titans Middlesborough and Sunderland).

Step 2: Hit them on the counter with your speediest players and hit them with a sucker punch. There is always a brainfart in the United defence somewhere. Alternatively, win a set piece in and around the 30 yard vicinity and get your tallest players up there.

Step 3: Break up the play and any momentum United build. Keep conceding silly fouls, time-waste as much as possible. Take 10-20 seconds per goal kick, throw in and recovering from fouls. Repeat Step 1 and start again.

This is a surefire way of getting at least a point from any United game this season, if not three.

Everton have better forward players than Hal Robson-Kanu, so we will certainly be in risky waters.

Are they really? They're safe from relegation, why not actually play a proper game of football? It's not like OT is what it was, and we were missing our two best players. Yet they showed no desire to win at all. They're well ahead of Stoke in the table, they should be trying to gun down Everton, and to do that they need wins. Pathetic. And the time wasting was atrocious.

We at least tried to win. We weren't good enough but at least we tried. Nothing pathetic about that.

It was really a pity Mourinho wasn't rewarded yesterday for the brave selection and choice of formation, in a game we totally dominated but couldn't really create much chances nor score. And I agree with him, the problem was the creative players, including Carrick, who didn't step up when needed, Mkhitaryan, Martial and Rashford being disappointing. Now, I can see him going back to being overcautious against Everton, playing 3 at the back again or a 4-3-3 like suggested.

We've got a better chance at winning this than the West Brom game imo. Everton will at least try to score a goal.

An Old Trafford goal or two and a win would be a great birthday present please United.

Of course we were pathetic yesterday, it was shambolic.

Match day thread filled with nothing but whiny, pessimistic posts = We are nailed-on to win..

If Everton play anything like the way they played against us they'll lose.

Hopefully they step it up and Lukaku is on it.

Need to bounce back. Feeling more confident after the WBA game. We lacked that little bit of quality, and struggled to create. Feel as though Everton will be alot more attacking and liable to be countered on. Thinking we will nick a 1-0 win.

We've only been smashed once this season vs Chelsea. If you Lukaku is on it they may win but I reckon we will win this.

If Pogba's ready to start, Mourinho could easily go for a 4-3-3, following his recent disappointment with the creative players. And, unless he's drained, can't see Fellaini being dropped for this game.

The lack of fit center backs and Mata drastically reduces our options.

    .

We've lost as few games by April as we've lost in living memory!

    Let's hope so.

I also want to personally break my 1 win in 6 home games appalling run this season too!
Am up for Everton, Chelsea and Swansea, and if we don't win the former, i'll be pessimistic about the Chelsea one!

Fair point. I guess the pessimist in me keeps looking at these draws as unnecessary points lost.

It's like getting D grades in your GCSE's if you have ambitions of going to University. Yes they're okay and it's not the end of the world but they're not really going to do anything for you and pretty much feel like a fail.

Fresh Herrera and Zlatan. Everton won't sit back like that pointless fecking team we played today. 2-1

If we have worked out, as fans, that when a team parks the bus, the game is a draw, how do you know Everton will not think along these same lines?
If I were Koeman, I'd park the bus and accept 1 point. If Everton try and win the game (ie. no bus parking), MUFC will beat them quite easily, I think.

My way of thinking, as a manager, would be that if playing at OT: if 1 point is a "good result", then park the bus. On the other hand, you absolutely need 3 points and 1 point won't cut it, then try and attack.

Rival teams must know that we are almost unbeatable at OT now and that even when teams have drawn, they were dominated by MUFC and relied on their GK putting in a MOTM performance.

What do I think? I think Koeman will park the bus.

Not park the bus, but quick counterattacks are very likely. We also won't play such high defensive line as against West Brom to allow for their runs. It will be a much more balanced game, overall.

If we play 4-2-3-1, dreadful Rooney might surprisingly have a chance to start.

A midweek game. Our players need to be fooled into thinking its a cup game so that they turn up. I have taken the bold step of making Zlatan my fpl captain. Let's see how it goes. Personally, I have zero expectations.

    We will lose this.
Feel so negative about achieving top 4 , from what is happening to us at O.T and what our strikers doing! Can't see us getting there. Our only hope is to win the E.L but the pressure will be high and you know what is going to happen.

Mate, we may be crap at beating the "park the bus" tactic, but we don't lose games at OT.
Personally, I want to see how CFC handle us at OT. That is going to be the game by which we get to see how we compare to them, with 11 men.
It actually wouldn't surprise me if CFC parked the bus against us, as all they'd need/want is 1 point from the game. I remember MCFC "parked the bus" last season, at OT and we drew. CFC may adopt a similar approach.

I don't think I've ever seen Chelsea referred to as CFC. Very odd.

Traditionally, Everton aren't a team to do this. They will show more attacking intent than WB.

Good point but we really desperate to win draw after draw is worse than a loss we just need to win the upcoming 2 games and see what is going to happen to the others teams still find it hard to beat a decent side at O.T.

I know I shouldn't have been, but I was still surprised by West Brom's lack of ambition last time out. They're so far ahead of Stoke, they won't finish any lower than where they are now. If they want to finish any higher, they really should be going to try and beat anyone they're up against because they need the wins. Yet, they are just happy to be the most pointless team in the universe and stay where they are. Of course this is only part of the frustration as it's our job to beat them and we should do, but this is our season all over. At least this should be Everton's priority to try and finish above Arsenal and ourselves - they'll come to try and take three points which should give us a better chance with Zlatan and Herrera back. I don't think Pogba will be starting, but hopefully he can at least make the bench if not.

I would prefer it if Smalling is fit to stick to Lukaku, otherwise I think he'll get the the better of our other defenders on a few occasions and probably score at least once. We need two goals to win this game, hopefully Everton are open enough for us to do that.

We'll have a strong bench with Lingard, Rooney, Rashford, Young, maybe Mata/Pogba depending on who's fit. I hate that I have a lack of interest in this game thanks to the West Brom result, we definitely need to focus more on the Europa League now.
