1-0 Krasnodar. Their defense has really had the Martinez effect this season. Just a straight ball through. Awful defending.

Since the start of the season, we've been rubbish with three at the back, though. Since we've changed to 442 diamond however, although we haven't been that convincing defensively (who would when you have a different back four ever game) we've scored every game and have looked a massive threat going forward. Surely Van Gaal can see this.

I agree that we have not been good with 3 at the back but we know it is a formation LVG likes and with all the players we are missing I think he might go back to it. The biggest problem if we are to play the diamond is replacing Hererra I don't think we have any other player who could play his role.

They've missed Mirallas, Barkley, Pienaar and Coleman big time. They won't have them for our game.

They were worse for 70 mins than they were against a poor Liverpool side.

They're terrible at the back and we're scoring and creating chances a plenty right now. We really should be scoring a few against this lot even without Herrera.

I'm actually confident about this and I haven't been confident about any game bar QPR. They are nowhere near as good as last season.

I hope this long Russian trip will tire out these game raising cnuts. Did Lumpkaku play much?

I hope the same. Lukaku played the entire second half. He made a bit of difference , Everton looked somewhat better in the second half, especially the last 15 minutes.

Everton are so poor till 75 minutes. Awful defending and so many attacks from Krasnodar of which they capitalized only once. They should be easily up with 3 to 4 goals if not for Tim Howard brilliant saves. Lukaku and Etoo doesn't look like a threat. Etoo got help from Lukaku's runs and they were better in the last 15 minutes. Baines quality helped them to get that equalizer and did a good last person tackle to avoid 2-0 down. Stones looks good and a future prospect.

They will return home tonight at 2 am London time. I guess they will be tired to play early Sunday noon game. 3 draining away games in a row is difficult for anyone to deal with. Hope we capitalize on their situation.

Any fitness news on our lads ahead of this ?
Jones, Fellaini and Carrick all back on the 5th according to physio room, all 3 would be a massive plus given the injury list.

That's a far stronger team than I would have expected them to use tonight. I wasn't feeling confident about this game but surely we will take advantage of this. The likes of Barry, Baines and Jagielka will struggle badly to play 2 games within 3 days at an acceptable level with a long flight in between. It certainly makes me glad that we didn't qualify for the Europa League.

With CL qualification for Europa League winners I'm not surprised. I think fewer teams will be treating the Europa League as an inconvenience from now on.

Jones does not feature in today's training pics. The Guardian wrote yesterday that he had been doing light training with Carrick this week. Carrick does feature in the pics. Apparently, Fellaini has been involved in first team training all week. So applying LVG's usual guidelines, Jones likely to be out, Carrick might just make the bench but probably won't (West Brom match on 20th Oct seems far more realistic). Fellaini might be in contention for a place on the bench but unlikely to be considered fit enough to start. Carrick needs matches, whether they be U21 or behind closed door friendlies, as he won't have played since early May.

No sign of Smalling, Herrera, Evans, Young, Anderson, Lingard in the training pics.

LVG doesn't appear to be a fan of late fitness tests, though I'm not sure how many days of first team training players need to do before he is willing to put them on the bench.

for the talk about them resting a lot of players, I never thought they'd be able to.

They have key players out already, but tonight it looks like Naismith and Lukaku, who still played 45mins were the main players left out.

    We'll be fresher for certain.

Russia, Thursday evening, Sunday 12pm is ridiculous scheduling for them. Oh well!

It happened to us last year did it not? Recent season anyway

Cheers, Jones would have been a huge boost as would Carrick but it is what it is.
Great to have you guys with fingers on the pulse with info and oddly it would be perfect have Fellaini available for this, last thing the worst defence in the league needs is a big fluffy nutcase putting himself about.

Everton struggling with injuries - almost as bad as we are.
Everton with a match today in Russia and just 2.5 Days until the next game
Add to that - they look nowhere as solid as they did last season

We really have a good chance on sunday

Are they doubts for the game?
I don't even know any more, Coleman went of with a clash to the head 4 games ago and hasn't been seen since with no word from the club. McCarthy has a hamstring injury but again no word from the club.

Would you rather rush McCarthy back with a chance he might aggravate the injury but massive increasing you're chances as he is such a classy, important player or prefer it Bobby M rested him over the international break ready for you're Villa game? Same with Coleman if he has a muscle injury and it's not just a concussion?

I would rather they not play if there is a chance they might make the injury worse, even if they play it's going to be a very tough game with a good chance we won't pick up any points anyway so i would rather they fully recovered if it came down to it.

In our current form we should be able to score at least a couple past them, but we'll probably concede as well. Important to see the game out before they gain any sort of momentum.

We need to smash them 3:0 or more. We probably wont and they will scored at least one but if we could win with a big result it would improve our confidence and team would restored that fear factor. We have perfect opportunity.

Just waiting for the press conference to hear if Carrick is fit enough to play. He can be very good in this system where all players would be running around him.

    My lineup:
    .................De Gea
    Rafael - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
    --------------Blind
    ------Carrick--------Di Maria
    --------------Mata
    ----------Falcao - RVP

McNair for Jones if he is still injured and maybe try Perreira if Carrick is not fit.

    4-3-1-2

    DDG

    Rafael McNair Rojo Shaw

    Fletcher Blind Di Maria

    Mata

    Falcao RVP

I think the team will be kind of like this? Di Maria will obviously be everywhere though and Blind & Fletcher will be a base for the forward players hopefully. Looking forward to Falcao getting on the scoresheet and Mata doing well in the next 3 games.

I went with 5-3 for this one. Poor defending and excellent attacking players will mark this one (as expected). Falcao to score 3 or more! :)

    Rafael-----McNair-----Rojo------Shaw
    -------------------Blind----------------
    ------Fletcher(C)------Di Maria-------
    -------------------Mata-----------------
    -----------RVP------------Falcao-------

I think this game will be about who can score the most goals, McNair had a terrific debut against West Ham but Everton is another level. With the likes of Lukaku & Eto'o who are poweful strikers McNair will struggle. I wouldnt of picked him as my first choice but with Jones & Evans still injured and Smalling just being crap. McNair has to play just because he had a good game against West Ham. Fletch will fill in for Herrera, and the attack just picks itself. Blind is the guy to step up this game, has to help out the defense alot and break up the play. Everton will struggle themselves because of Europa and Di Maria will scare them. Falcao will get his first goal i reckon.

    result: United 3 - 1 Everton

When i seen Everton against Liverpool and some of the europe match. Then they seems to struggle and it suprising to see Martinez not to get tactic right and get the players to follow it. It's been night and day from last season. This season they seems to more tired and less explosive going forward, but they managed in both matches to get points and that what im afraid of. I hope for 3 points but it seems like Everton is really good at getting a goal late in the game. We also struggle taking control of a game and kill it early on. We invite teams to get into the game. I hope Jones is ready because he is more of a fighter and seem to grow to a quality CB. Adnan could start but i pref if Mata started.

hope we can get the game under control and score as many as possible. don't know if my heart can take another thriller like last game, where we had to defend for 30mins or more.
would love to see falcao score, but in the end it doesn't matter who scores for us.

    my prediction: united 3 - 1 everton

Bah I miss Herrera already.. hope Fletcher isn't as wank as he was in our first two games. Fully fit squad I'd be very confident going into this, I'd even rather Di Maria out instead of Herrera, I rate his team important that highly.
