He has these games...when he's just amazing. Then has one not so...just needs consistency. I still think he was a great signing.

I think he's been excellent for the majority of the season. He was clearly tired there in the run up to the international break but that's to be expected with the number of minutes he's played this season.

He well and truly shackled Lukaku today and there aren't many bigger challenges than that in the league.

Interesting - must be hard for the players with L.V. dead man walking G. still messing with their heads but there is a lot of promise in this team. Well done the youngsters and Blind.

1 point behind MCFC (same number of games played).
It would be fantastic if we could push MCFC into 5th, so when Guardiola comes over, he'll fight in the Europa League.

A weak performance but good enough for the win. A deserved win.

Good 3 points but another painful difficult watch. There is zero entertainment under this current regime. Roll on next season.

You're not wrong there but there's a flip side to that. You know why Carrick is hailed as a tactician and positionally disciplined? He is talented but incredibly one-dimensional, who knows his limits and plays to them to the point of being a non-factor in games like these i.e where the game is brought to you (the player) aka games where Carrick can't dictate play at a slow(er) tempo with minimal pressure.

You get movement, mobility, pressing and attacking runs/passes (maybe less quality but definitely more quantity) from a Herrera/Schneiderlin combo but less shape and tempo. I think I'd take my chances and let the younger duo do their thing than rely on Carrick.
I know Carrick's leg is gone and we need a good replacement for him in the holding role but shoehorning Morgan and Herrera into the midfield with no one at the base to build up the play isn't the best way to go.

I think Fosu-Mensah could do a job there. He's a beast. He doesn't have the passing range of Carrick but he's a dominator.

Everton were hopeless, punting long balls to Lukaku all game long, their only good chances were the corners

TFM looks like another box-box CM, not a holding midfielder.

    + Three points
    + Blind shutting down Lukaku
+ all youngsters had good games
    - First half was horrid
    - did we have a game plan?
    - Carrick had a very bad one today

Ok, we got the win but United are slowly draining all my enthusiasm for football at the moment.

That's how I felt today. I hate to admit it, but I would be lying if I said I looked forward to games anymore....It's transient I know that, but ffs it's a bit flat to say the least.....I kinda feel bad that I feel this way.

I didn't even watch yesterday. It was a midnight kick-off for me and I was knackered. Under SAF I always struggled through it but I knew it was going to be shite and would put me in a bad mood for the week.

I was at the game, and thought it was a pretty decent second half at least.
And I've watched a lot of poor games this season!

You have to factor in the result is more important than performance come the run in as well.

That is certainly the most important thing this time of the season but I think the problem is that the performances have been the same old slow boring crap for basically two seasons.

Being honest I was really pleased with the defensive performance minus Rojo who can go in my opinion. Surprised at the overall negativity surrounding the game, I thought the team showed a good fighting spirit to get that win and it will certainly give us some confidence to go into the spurs game with. The team that finished the second half was playing some really good football with attacking intent - we are not far away from having a really exciting team here even if we didn't quite get there against Everton. Can't wait to get Shaw back too considering you could argue he is our most talented defender.

Dreadful first half and only marginally better in the second. It's interesting how all leading United officials, including Fergie, are now implying this youth team was planned from the beginning of the season. Next we'll hear AdM and others last season was only a smokescreen for this. How we got here has been a catalogue of poor decision making. If we make 4th+ good, if we win the FA cup lucky us, but for the world's top football club it's been a pretty poor season.
