    Romero

    Dalot Bailly Jones Young
    Herrera
    Pereira Fred
    Mata Sanchez Martial

Bench: Grant, Smalling, Darmian, Matic, McTominay, Lingard, Lukaku

Something like that would be my guess. Lineup is one of those that could be an 11 or 8 (Smalling, Lukaku and Matic/McTominay/Fellaini could easily start).

We are in no position to start to rotate to make everyone happy. This game should be used to try to evolve the first eleven.

    De Gea

    Dalot Smalling Lindelöf Shaw

    Fred Pogba Matic

    Sanchez Lukaku Martial

Try Sanchez on the right. It's unacceptable to have a false right winger in Lingard and leave the flank as the right backs' responsability to attack. We must settle on a system that works, the imbalance of wings surely can't help either Martial or Alexis, or whoever plays there on the left. The defending team can focus on shutting our left wing down because Valencia isn't causing any danger on the other side.

I hate giving Sanchez another start after a shambolic run, but maybe a start against Derby is what he needs to find form.

    Romero
    Dalot/Bailly/Jones/Young
    Fred/McTominay
    Pereira/Mata/Martial
    Sanchez

Any chance Darmian starts this on LB? I hope not but it's the perfect opportunity to give some minutes to members of our squad who aren't playing much & Jose loves the Italian.

    At The Lowry

The following players were seen at The Lowry prior to the game:

Goalkeepers (2): Sergio Romero, Lee Grant
Defenders (6): Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Diogo Dalot, Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian
Midfielders (6): Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic, Andreas Pereira, Fred, Marouane Fellaini, Scott McTominay
Forwards (5): Romelu Lukaku, Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard

Rashford is suspended, Rojo is injured and Pogba, De Gea, Lindelof, Valencia and Shaw have apparently all been rested.

    Last minute lineup questions

Lineup predictions close in about ten minutes but there are questions pretty much everywhere.

    Romero or Grant?

Risky, but with him previewing the match I've changed my mind late and going to go for Grant to start. Will probably backfire.

Who will be the centre back pairing?

Fullbacks are pretty predictable with Dalot confirmed to start and Darmian basically relegated to last choice so Young should start on the left, however the centre back combination could be any of Bailly, Smalling and Jones. I'll opt for Bailly and Jones as both need games.

    Who will play in midfield?

With Matic, Fred and Fellaini all joining the squad, it suggests at least one of them will start but I've got no idea who. Herrera and Pereira should definitely start this, but McTominay might be the unlucky one left out of the starting lineup like he was during our defeat to Bristol City last season.

    Who will play up front?

Martial is pretty much guaranteed to start. Lukaku should get a rest, but he could just as easily end up starting this. I'm opting for Mata, Sanchez and Martial.

    Damien's predicted XI

    Grant

    Dalot Bailly Jones Young
    Matic
    Pereira Herrera
    Mata Sanchez Martial
Hate games like this in terms of predictions. Wouldn't be surprised if I've got 7 right - stuff like Grant being in the home programme always throws me off.

Will change it for future rounds. Would have been unfair to update on the day or two before the game as most people wouldn't have been able to use the options.

    Fair enough.

Anybody know any good pubs in the middle of Dublin where I can catch the game?

    Manchester United team
Starting XI: Romero, Dalot, Bailly, Jones, Young (c), Mata, Matic, Herrera, Lingard, Lukaku, Martial
Subs: Grant, Darmian, Smalling, Fellaini, Fred, McTominay, Alexis

    Derby County team
Starting XI: Carson, Forsyth, Bryson, Tomori, Keogh (c), Wilson, Mount, Johnson, Bennett, Nugent, Bogle
Subs: Roos, Wisdom, Waghorn, Jozefzoon, Marriott, Huddlestone, Malone

Nine changes to the starting XI with Romero, Dalot, Bailly, Jones, Young, Mata, Matic, Herrera and Martial coming in for De Gea, Valencia, Lindelof, Smalling, Shaw, Fellaini, Fred, Pogba, Alexis.

The way they put the order of names makes believe Mata is our number 6.

No wonder Damien is top, he just removes whoever is in front of him.

Yeah, this looks clunky. Pogba, our best player against Wolves jettisoned. Sanchez not afford more playing time.

Come on lads, the fans deserve a strong victory.

Feel like Scott Carson has been around for ages, yet he's still only 33 somehow.

Like that we've gone with a 4231, and I'm hoping, especially if we play well tonight, that we continue with it in most of our games this season.

Lingard starts and no Pereira. Great job Jose, let’s award mediocrity while we ignore our young talents at the expense of Mata

How can Lukaku play this many minutes? I know he's a beast but surely he needs the odd rest.
