It's hard not to feel disheartened if you are Herrera. Play well and still get dropped for someone who's just in the team for his reputation.

I've been LvG's biggest supporter on this site but he can feck off with his Rooney love-in.
He didn't really play well at all, but I would have had him in that midfield two. It is far too slow.

So normally it's Martial ousted to the wing so Rooney can be shoehorned into the team. Now it's Herrera being binned to the bench so Rooney can play behind the striker.

No matter what, if Rooney starts, it's at the detriment of a better player.

Let's be honest, it can't really be any worse than the Palace game.

They think Rooney will be up front on BT. Here we go again. Why do I do it to myself?

Think Herrera might leave at the end of the season. He's being wasted at United. LVG is becoming very very irritating with his team management.
Rooney should not even be wearing the United jersey. Yet he starts in spite of his pathetic record. Herrera who has good pace and has been a good player for us, misses out as usual.

AM not sure, but i feel Herrera never had a complete run in the team to settle himself. 1 ok / bad game and he is out.
    Ridiculous.

If United drop points or lose here, LVG will be under immense pressure. Zero pace in the team. Not looking forward to the game.

Listening to Scholes, Rio and Hargreaves try to defend Rooney every week is getting really pathetic. Why are they so afraid to criticize him?

I'm definitely at the stage of hoping for a Rooney injury. Had enough, and Van Gaal, great a manager as he is, is a fecking coward. Or of course, his hands are tied contractually after all.

Rooney was moved from the 9 for being shit, then moved from the 10 for being shit, now moved from the 9 again for being shit, but not moved from the team for being shit. Had enough.

Because he's their mate. Rooney's bored now, according to Scholes. Well he can sit on the bench and be bored there, can't he? Bored on 250k a week. What a disgrace!

At least it's nice to see Lingard getting a start. Hopefully he continues his recent vein of form.

He's going to be in his supposed best position tonight, so it will be down to Rooney if he is bad. Cannot blame anyone else. Would they dare blame Michael Carrick if he isn't getting the ball to Rooney.

Shit lineup. We'll get counterattackgangbanged. Hope i'm wrong ofc.

We'll probably score 5 today. When the caf likes the lineup we normally play bad and when we don't like the lineup we normally play well.

    tbf this is true.

Carrick and schewiny have never looked good in midfield though, rooney is still leading the line. Hoping for the best tho.

    Rooney better play well today

If he insisted on not playing Herrera, he could also have dropped Rooney and played 4-3-3 with Fellaini overloading the middle. CSKA are a fast counterattacking team and we're using two midfielders who are dog-slow in everything they do.

Its the only way he is not going to be picked, but even so I cant wish injury on a player.

Publicly criticising Herrera for missing a chance and then dropping him, whilst Rooney gets 90 minutes week in week out without a bad word said about him, is fecking disgusting behaviour.. Fergie must be as mad as us lot about it.

Shit lineup. We'll get counterattackgangbanged. Hope i'm wrong ofc.
What with two deep lying midfielders? Doubt it.

EDIT: Saying that it happened against Arsenal. :nervous:

So if Rooney is the number 10 tonight I wonder what the chances are for these pundits to moan after the game, in which Rooney is shite, that Rooney is wasted as a 10 and is natural role is number 9?

That lineup didn't really fill me with confidence. We desperately need a wide forward this January because I feel Martial is playing way too much. Young should be on the left with Mata behind Martial,Darmian at RB and Herrera at cm. Hope we win this.

Seriously, I just don't get that team, but I'll withhold judgement for now.

    Maybe...

    Lingard - Mata - Rooney
    - Martial -

Quite interesting if they line up like this up front, slow midfield, but whatever happens, I don't think it's going to be boring now!

(Well, that's my team prediction down the toilet for this match - only 7/11)

 Stick him at right back, I say.

Carrick and BFS in midfield! Seriously! Didn't end well last time van Gaal tried that.

Think we'll win and it will just paper over the cracks in LVG's mind.

btw @Niall I think it would be nice if we could also along with rating the players there is also an option of rating LVG. It would be quite interesting what sort of ratings he gets especially in the climate we are currently under.

It will be interesting to see how Lingard does playing from the left, the midfield is worryingly one paced though.
