Backpass FC. Amazing that it took us this many years to find another Pep Guardiola is my idol trying to play zero risk football at home against one of the most woeful teams in the league. At least Van Gaal could play this with Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair. What a shitshow we have been the last 12 years.

Palace's reserves I guess you mean because if people seriously think having a front 4 of Pellistri, Hannibal, Garnacho and Martial with Donny coming off the bench, as we did in midweek, would be better than this then they're completely delusional.
Actually they play better than this because them players you just mentioned are hungry players with a point to prove. Rashford and Bruno are guaranteed starters even if they play shite every week.

Amrabat is trying to impose his physicality in the premier league but at all the wrong moments.

He will take a few more games to adapt, but early indications show that he isn’t as versatile positionally as ETH wants him to be in this makeshift free-role.

This club will never achieve anything until it grows up and recognises the profile of player required to compete at the top level.

Aggression, fighting spirit, work rate and stamina are non-negotiables. If you don't have those in 2023 you're not a top player. Looking at you, Rashford.

Mount and Varane played well, the rest ranged from average to crap.

Rashford needs to buckle up fast, he’s been fouled roughly a few times but far too uninvolved in the game, doesn’t help that Amrabat isn’t a fullback. I would sub Pellistri with Garnacho and move Rashford to the right for 20 mins, if he still struggles there then move Mount there and sub in a CM.

Saw the line up. Had a feeling we would lose. You simply cannot win games in this league with that midfield. It’s too attacking and Ten Hag needs to wake and realise this. Should have played Hannibal over Mount. Drop Rashford as well.

Rashford and Hoijlund have been utter garbage. I’d get Martial and Garnacho on. Our pressing and ball recovery has been good. Just need a goal. Oh and Casemiro will see red today. So hope we score two before that happens or it’ll be another loss. Cheers.

Our biggest issue is two players who dragged through last season now look completely lost. Our defense has been OK, so is Mount and Bruno. Pellistri is just a running body or at best a defensive winger. I'd play Dalot ahead of him if we had any RB left.

Nothing we do seems natural. The players seem like a bunch of people trying to remember what they should do, rather than just playing naturally. To my eyes a number of players look like they're going for short passes, because they think that's what a Ten Hag team should do, rather than just playing their natural football. It's weird to see players get in the box and never once look like they want to shoot. We have had decent territory but created virtually nothing.

Pass left, pass right, pass back, run forward stop and pass back. Such wonderful football, 80% possession. We are just lucky that CP score from corner. To me, it seems week in week out and ETH will hold his head high to say we were unlucky to lose. Please drop Rashford, I have enough of his selfish play. Everyone is waiting for a cross or pass and the ball will be block by the defenders. Same story week in week out, please acknowledge he is out of form. Every good ball to the left is wasted over and over again.

People calling for Rashford to go off even though he’s been involved infinitely more than Pellestri in this game. Switch rash rod to the right and bring Garnacho on.

Mount (and possibly Dalot) the only one having a good game so far.
Yes he’s involved but it doesn’t mean shit if he’s always making bad decisions.

Palace are so smart with their fouls and falling over, helped by a ref who supports it. ETH should be screaming murder at the officials instead of standing there doing nothing, how many kicks on Rashford in that half.

Martial, Garnacho and Hannibal should be on at half time for Rashford, Hojlund and Pellistri.

I really don’t like the way ETH is trying to set us up.

I know that Amrabat at lb is forced cos of the injuries, but it is exactly how he tried to play at the start of the season with Shaw.

it makes the middle over congested. It doesn’t play to any of our best players strengths.

this is where a manager needs to be pragmatic and admit that his system isn’t working, and try something different.

I wouldn’t mind, but it isn’t even his system, it’s just a bad imitation at city.

How many times did Palace try to take Rashford out in that 1st half, such weak officials turning a blind eye to it.

The true character of this group of United players will be seen 2nd half. When United last had a team full of characters to roll up their selves (days of Ferguson) United would go on to beat such average Palace team at home if 1-0 behind at half time.

Its on the manager, the tactics are all wrong. Bruno and Mount cancel each other out

Just not a very good football team to be honest. I mean, we are ‘good’, but we are a level or two below the sides who would expect to comfortably win games like this. As a result, they will always go either way. Our passing is average. We have ‘possession’ until we cross the halfway line. Final third passing is mediocre at best, and whether or not it fluctuates slightly from game to game - it’s ultimately not of a good enough standard.

A lot of work to do for this team. Not reacting to the scoreline, more a case of me not thinking we have played particularly poorly by our standards. This is generally about what you get from us. One day we may be leading, today, we are losing - but we’re not ‘below our usual standards’ by any stretch.

I was more looking forward to watching the Spurs vs Pool game today than watching United.

This team drains any happiness out of watching football, I almost prefer to be entertained as a neutral these days.

Only created 1 half decent chance. No patterns of play. Totally dependent on a moment of magic from an off form Rashford. The CM is still useless. Palace wont get an easier away from home all season as things stand.

The quality on the ball is appalling. You almost feel we focus too much on off the ball work.

Im not going to rip on Pellistrini but surley Garnacho has proven hymself more and thats down to the manager.

Must be watching a different game. Other than Rashers and perhaps Case I don't think we're playing that poorly. But perhaps that's just because I expect less these days.

Hannibal, Garnacho and Martial are simply better players for this system.

I was worried when i saw all of them were benched after our best performance of the season, which was by and large down to these three being high energy and keeping the shape well.

Rashford has reverted to type. I'm not sure why he gets a free pass when he's so out of form (again) - he should have been dropped. It's not as if he offers anything in the press and he keeps trying these cute passes which he has yet to pull off. Alot of our attacks break down because of him. Hojlund has been so anon i forgot he was even playing. Really dissapointing from ETH - i was hoping he would have seen something after the mid week game but we've reverted to the same system and players that have been so far this season.

Reserves? Half their team are the same players that play now. Are you implying that the others are particularly good and crucial to them? We should've played Bruno on the right instead of Pellistri and Hannibal in midfield with Garnacho instead of Rashford.
Eze is their best player, Guehi is their best defender, their goal scorer today didn't play and that's just 3 of several changes they've made. I wouldn't mind seeing Garnacho instead of Rashford, although I'm not sure Garnacho has ever had a good game in the league when starting, but the reality is we're miles away from where we should be and bringing in Hannibal, who I'm not sure will ever be the standard of a regular Premier League starter, isn't going to change that and people took way too many positives from a game against an understrength Palace side who clearly didn't give a shit about the Carabao Cup.

Saw the line up. Had a feeling we would lose. You simply cannot win games in this league with that midfield. It’s too attacking and Ten Hag needs to wake and realise this. Should have played Hannibal over Mount. Drop Rashford as well.
And yet ironically we’re completely incapable of creating any sort of decent attack

I'm not sure Hojland and Rashford are a match in heaven. Rashford needs to be direct with freedom to shoot. Asking him to set up anyone else is asking him to make decisions, which are his worst trait.

Mount is so much more intelligent than some of our other players. Must be so frustrating for him playing with someone like Rashford.

Just not good enough , we are mid table mediocrity this season , you get the feeling among the supported that they want to believe we are going in the right direction but patience is wearing thin , it can't go on like this.

Palace are so smart with their fouls and falling over, helped by a ref who supports it. ETH should be screaming murder at the officials instead of standing there doing nothing, how many kicks on Rashford in that half.

Amrabat has given a couple of stupid ones away, one push in the back. Of course the Palace are going to take those.

Feel like people are overreacting a bit. We've been in complete control for about 40 of the 48 minutes

Like we were in control and "neutralized" Arsenal? Teams know they can let us have the ball and not be in any danger, and that a turnover is just around the corner. We are very easy and predictable to play against.
