Mount has been good, but 2nd half I want him and Hannibal to play more between the lines and Casemiro, Amrabat and the CBs to find them more.

I wouldn't be getting carried away that Amrabat is going to get the freedom of Old Trafford in every game.

A lof of this is due to Palace. It's a poor disinterested side they've put out.

It's a different ball game in the league when teams play their strongest sides and they're motivated. You can only beat what is in front of you, we deserve credit so far but there is rightfully an asterisk attached to everything that happens against a team with no interest in putting any pressure on or off the ball in the league cup. There are definitely two ingredients, Palace being shite and us exploiting it.

That may be, but we've made some shite teams look pretty good a few times in recent years. The big difference for me is having Mount in for Eriksen/McTominay. There was one sequence where they gave the ball away in the final 3rd and Mount and Hannibal were sprinting back like their lives depended on it.

Insane amount of hate for Rashford and Bruno in this thread today. We are not losing to a Crystal Palace B team and that justifies people wanting to bin off the players that have been carrying the team for 3 years. This fanbase is seriously weird.

Hard to read too much into it but we’ve been much more mature and controlled with the ball. We actually managed the game near the end which was nice and just tiki taka’d the ball around for 4-5 mins to keep the 2-0

Bruno and Mount interchanging and Casemiro and Amrabat behind will be a very strong especially against weaker teams. We need to start controlling games. If Rashford and Hojlund start scoring we would look a decent team for sure. With the likes of Eriksen, Garnacho, Pelestri, Mejbri and Mainoo coming back, there will be plenty of bench options. I personally don’t miss Antony or Sancho much.

Not going to get too excited as I expect more ups and downs.

What? Maguire is a 7 because of one basic intercept, but Amrabat, who is out of natural position and is an absolute metronomic titan gets a 7 too?

Maguire not making a mistake bumps him up to a 6 because for him that is pretty good. Maguire not making a mistake and also doing something well adds another point?

Would like to get Hojlund on for atleast a half an hour. Some goals would do him good and they are there to be got

Something about Amrabat that I really like. Just looks like a solid all round player and someone who can keep a calm head. We’ve been lacking this type of player for a while.

Yeah. Amrabat with his energy off the ball and ability to show for the ball constantly (most touches today and most passes), and know how and where to pass it just for us to keep possession is huge. Will be a life saver for casemiro and get his level back up to world class without a doubt. Especially as Eriksen is the other extreme end of lack of work rate. Also, some might not like it but amrabat just won't be someone who creates or scores. It's not his role, we have enough other guys who will force shots or creative passes. He's a nice contrast where he'll just keep the ball for us and let us build. Much needed.

Yeah we don't need Amrabat to create, we need him to form the platform TO create. It's been our issue for years in my opinion. We've never had a consistent platform to build into the final 3rd, so if our main creators/attacking threats are off their game we look hapless as they don't get as many opportunities to get it right.

A good example is the Forest game when we just strangled them for 30 minutes straight until equalizing. We very rarely do that as a team.

Nice of Mount to finally show up, very good half from him. Looks a lot more settled.

The Mitchell brothers (Amrabat and Casemiro) completely controlling the game. I love that after 45 minutes Amrabat is giving us solutions. I didn't really think of him playing as inverted fullback against weaker teams to give us more control, but it is working a treat right now.

Hope Mount isn't injured and they're just being careful not to rush him back?

    Ooh Amrabat in midfield

Casemiro, Amrabat and Mount in midfield going forward. Bruno on the right. There should be no doubt about this. Pellistri should be subbed on for either Mount and Bruno.

That's still slightly unbalanced. What would the system and style of play realistically be with that personnel?

    Hope Mount is fine

Is Dalot on the bench when we have the ball? (Also Amrabat and Casemiro have swapped a decent amount too)
 forgot. Just put him somewhere on the right wing either inverting next to casemiro/the DM as you say, or overlapping pellistri, basically just doing a lot on the right.

Guess he was only fit for 45, so why risk it? Makes sense to do that change.

Hopefully, this substitution was planned. Mount should be playing on the weekend off the back of this performance.

That may be, but we've made some shite teams look pretty good a few times in recent years. The big difference for me is having Mount in for Eriksen/McTominay. In truth Eriksen would have looked good in this game as well. Nothing Palace have done would have caused him to need to break sweat.

Tbf mount run around none stop that half. He was probably knackered coming back from injury.
