Terrible half. We're not getting through them. Better get VDB and Greenwood on soonish I reckon.The coaching staff's stupidity is too much sometimes, starting 3 players who were all a letdown every time they stepped on the pitch the last 10 months. 2 of them you didn't have any confidence at all to rotate them when other players looked dead on their feet at the end of the season.

Bring in Matic, and Odion and go two up front with Odion and Martial dropping deep. He will create those second balls for us. He is what he is. A decent player, good in the build up but terrible in the final 3rd, who has lapses of concentration and is incredibly injury prone. Should he be an undisputed starter for a club like United, with literally no competition? Recipe for disaster IMO.Terrible half. Whole team seems disjointed so no point in discussing who was worse than the rest. Hopefully we improve in the second half and get an early goal.

McTominay isn't a defensive midfielder. He lacks the positioning, passing and tackling ability to be one. When Bruno is higher up the pitch, and Pogba isn't really putting in the shift, we are extremely easy to bypass in midfield as a result. Fosu Mensah has had a very poor game, as well - out of position, can't cross, can't tackle, can't win 1 on 1s. Take James lack of footballing intelligence and composure and our right flank is non-existent.
Going forwards, it's not been easy to link up against 2 banks of four from Palace, and both Bruno and Martial are being crowded out of possession.
Let's hope we see a different team in the second half, but concedeing looks more likely than scoring.

He has, but he isn't the only one. That half was concerning, with the optimism of a new season severely dented in a few short minutes.Poor half. Look slow and predictable. Had a few half decent moments but not really threatened.

If you think the palace side is better than ours on paper, I really would question your understanding of football in general.McTominay is the biggest problem out there. Hes not covering the midfield in attack or screening the defenders, hes just running around lost. Hook him off asap, not in the 85th minute like normal.
TFM also looks well off the pace, but we already knew that.Whole team looks miles apart in terms of cohesion.

Very likely we only sub on Greenwood though. Very sketchy doing a entire 2nd half with just one swap availableWhile I'm not the most convinced about Ole or some of the players, I think today is mostly due to the team being totally unfit and not ready yet to start the season.
We can only hope this will improve as the season goes on and unfortunately we'll actually need to rotate. Players didn't get enough rest or enough preparation for this season, so if we burn them out, by the time second half of the season comes we'll be in a terrible place.Plse no one use excuses about no pre season and all that blah, these are professional players paid a fortune and that first half was shocking.Always depressing when you have to decide which of your defenders were more at fault for a goal.- Status
