    4-0.

Playing with 10men for most of the game vs City, at the Emptihad, with 2 kids and 2 midfielders in defence and we played out of our skins. Could've easily nicked something in the end.

Absolutely monster performances from Blind, Shaw, Fellaini, Carrick, and De Gea against City. RVP, Rooney, Rojo, AdM were excellent too. If the team keeps up this level of intensity and brilliance we will crush this Palace side.

Don't think I've ever been so positive after defeat but we didn't look like a team with 10men. With 11 we could've killed these fools. Against Palace we will hopefully be fired up again!!

    Who can play defence?

We need to start our season here. No more excuses, smash these and get something out of the Arsenal game.

We'll smash them, I reckon 5-0 for us. Hopefully Falcao will be back too, I hope LVG won't play Januzaj or Mata this time and that he will stick with fellaini, blind, di maria and Herrera with Mcnair, Blackett, Shaw and Jones at the back four.

This will be an easy win I think. I hope McNair will play this match, because he looks more solid than Jones or that stupid Smalling. Don't know whether Rojo and Falcao are able to play or not, but I'm really concerned about Falcao.

    -----------------De Gea
    Valencia---Mcnair------Blackett---Shaw
    ---------------Blind--------------------
    ------Fellaini--------------Di Maria-----
    -----------------Mata---------------
    ----------Van Persie------Rooney-----

Just get a fecking win. Hopefully Rojo is back in time and I'd like McNair to start.

Assuming Liverpool lose to Chelsea, we'll overtake 'em again. Not that they'll get top four anyway.

    Mcnair
    Blackett
    Carrick
    Blind
    Fellaini

McNair and Carrick probably then. Don't know if Jones may be back but I hope Paddy gets a chance to play. Impressed me so far.

Is it to early to call this a must win? 3 games without victory isn't ideal but the peperformances and desire from the players is hugely encouraging.

We'll concede, when don't we? In the end though our quality will see us over the line. 3-1, Rooney brace and Di Maria.

This game can't come soon enough.

On a side note, I am not too familar with our reserve/youth teams.

Do we have any talent that can be called up? Our defence in particular is worryingly bad even when we seem to have people fit. These suspensions are not helping either.

I'm hoping we can use a few youngsters to fill in until January where hopefully we will buy a few quality players.

Is Rafael out for this game? Hope not. Hope we can get Falcao fit also, if he's not fit for this game you have to raise questions if you haven't already. We played well in the last two outings so I think we can deliver a strong win here before the break, we have a lot of momentum and it'd be good to keep the train going with the Arsenal match in 3 weeks.

People were making a big deal out of the last 5 matches, we played better each game. The matches until the window are where we will really prove if we're serious and if we can challenge for 4th without too many reinforcements needed.

    Palace - H
    Arsenal
    Hull - H
    Stoke - H
    Southampton
    Liverpool - H
    Villa
    Newcastle - H
    Tottenham
    Stoke

Half the games at home, 30 points, we should be picking up most of them.

Valencia played very well against City so not a massive problem. Don't think we should change formation, but I would switch van Persie. Our lack of goals is unacceptable considering the supposed attacking brilliance we have. For all the talk of our defence it's our attack that's letting us down.

    de Gea
    Rafael McNair Jones Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera di Maria
    Rooney
    -Falcao------Wilson

Subs: Lindegaard, Fellaini, RVP, Mata, Evans, Carrick, Januzaj

Yes, I would drop RVP. He could, IMO perhaps do with a rest, and he hasn't been particularly effective in our most recent games. Yes, he got the winner against Chelsea, but anyone in that position could've done the same.

Would start Wilson over him as I feel we need a poacher in the side, someone who can finish those chances we've been missing for the past 6-7 games, costing us points.

I think this lineup could be really effective.

    4-1 United. Here's hoping anyway.

    De Gea
    Valencia Carrick McNair Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera Di Maria
    Rooney
    Falcao Van Persie
5-0 win for us I say. Hopefully a return to the diamond to get Di maria at his best.

I think we'll be a lot better off with Rafael rather than Valencia. Rafael is a natural fullback and just plays the position better, he's better going forward and going back and a good defender despite some stupid mistakes sometimes. Valencia wasn't good in my opinion but to each their own.

I do agree with you about van Persie, I don't like going against the opinion of Louis because he likes to prove me wrong a lot, but I feel like Falcao is more suited to the game we're playing due to Di Maria. Falcao can do a lot better than RvP with the crosses he puts into the box.

And lastly I do agree with you about the attack letting us down, 1 goal in the last two games, albeit being against the two top teams. Only 2 goals conceded, I don't think our defence is that big of a problem, Louis has sorted it out somehow. We need to score, we haven't been scoring, haven't been taking our chances and Louis has spoken about it a lot.

Di maria has to absolutely be played in midfield.

Not confident with our defense. We'll probably snatch a nervy 3-2 win.
Not counting the Leicester debacle we have a 1 goal a game average in conceding. Again not counting the Leicester debacle we score 1.4 goals a game. The stats do not support the "United have a great attack and poor defence."

I'd think 2-0 or 2-1/3-1. Depends on who plays and who doesn't. We dominate ball possession so it'll be tough to score on us if we cut out the giving the ball away (both the attacking and defending players are prone to these mistakes) so it's more a characteristic of the entire team that needs to be sorted out in training.

3-1 is only a goal away from a 3-2, and we've conceded 2 goals couple times this season so I don't think it's that much of a wild prediction.

    Worst case scenario:

    de Gea

    Valencia McNair Blackett Shaw
    Blind Fellani
di Maria - Rooney - Januzaj
    Wilson

    Subs:Lindegaard,RVP,Mata,Carrick,Fletcher,Thorpe,Herrera

Hopefully some will be back on time.

Never said it was a wild prediction. I just think the probability of it being such a high scoring game is low because every game we think "It'll be 4-3, 3-2, we'll get thrashed by Chelsea 3-0, Man City 3-1, 4-2." and the results end up turning out 2-1, 2-1, 2-2, 1-1, 1-0.

Not saying you specifically, but in general the stigma on this forum is that we have a great attack that can put 3 or 4 past the opposition but a horrible defence that will concede 3 or 4, and the results prove it isn't the case.

Again, I don't think 3-1 or 2-2 is that far away from a 3-2 (well, except the latter points wise). It's such a trivial thing point out.

Rafael only had a knock and was in training pics on friday, so can't imagine he will miss this game.

Gets said a lot at the moment but this really is a huge game for us. In fact most of the next 10 or so games against the fodder are all hugely important for us. We need to start putting these teams to bed on a consistent basis and it needs to start here. It will.

We should get three points fairly easy and I think we will 3-0. If not then that would be a disaster and could maybe get Van Gaal fired if we loose to Arsenal too. Now we have 2 games in a row when we played well and got nothing against the two best teams. Now time to use it against the small team so we can get up in the table.

    Palace - H
    Arsenal
    Hull - H

    Southampton
    Liverpool - H
    Villa
    Newcastle - H
    Tottenham
    Stoke

Looks like a daunting fixture list to me.

This is a game that we'll be expected to win. Therefore I don't think that we will. 1-1 or 2-1 Palace as we'll have no defence.
