Need less touches on the ball.

Rashford having a stinker but it’s the game of their life for the Colchester players and they have defended very well but they will be shattered by 60 minutes and we will bag three or four.

Everyone keeps asking for a creative midfielder to unlock teams when they sit 10 behind the ball, but it doesn't matter who we bring in if our players aren't making any movement off the ball. The only player who is making any runs is Rashford and apparently he left his shooting boots at home in the first half. And Martial...don't get me started on Martial. He just doesn't anticipate anything. All he does is show for the ball with back to goal. There were a few occasions in the first half where players passed it to where he should go and he just stayed where he was. We definitely need to sign a striker to challenge him for the starting 11 because he has been the worst player on the pitch. The way he "moves" I could mark him out of a game...

Rashford seems to have forgotten his good form and is back to standard Rashford.

I honestly would love the posters predicting things like 4-0 to explain why they make these predictions? On what basis are they making these predictions? It doesnt matter that it's Colchester, this team has proven to be shockingly bad against teams that sit deep, why would tonight have been any different?
I'd ban anyone who predicted that and promote anyone who predicted we will lose tbh.

Why does anyone pick 1-0 ? It's how they think it'll go. People are entitled to their opinions. Forgot about our recent 4-0 ?

So you're telling him he's not similar to Cantona?

Can't believe there's people complaining, totally unrealistic to expect Ole to dominate *checks notes* Colchester with this team!

Good players, limited by a narrow tactics/coaching. Same shit, different day

It’s like this every time we play a team that sits back. We have no creativity whatsoever. Matic will never play a defence splitting pass while Periera will but they never come off.
We should be 2-3 up. Rashford having a stinker is just shit luck.. It was put on a plate twice for him by Andreas.

If he had taken those chances, the whole game would have changed.

It's not like we dont create chances.. and its not like we havent done that here..

I think its just not taking this seriously enough.. which is a problem.

Maybe we need to be patient.... Oxford just got an equaliser against City... these teams aren't as easy as it seems on paper.

Exactly... Also worth noting City only scored because of a deflection.

This is the game of the season for these lads... Maybe even the career for some of them. Of course they're going to up it...

On top of that, breaking down a back 6 is difficult... And yet we've created enough to be in front. I'm fairly confident we'll score in the 2nd hair and their concentration drops.

Somewhere, a Norwegian Lukaku has made up his mind after watching this.

Maybe we should try to not swamp teams like this and try to rope a dope them bit.

I remember during the LVG era we used to completely trap sides in their half and and all we could do is pass around their 18 yard box for 80 mins.

Chill out guys. Sooner or later our attacking line will realise that we are playing and start putting the balls in. It just look like we are at practice.

I say we will score at least 2 goals in second half.

Colchester parked the bus and so far we cant get through. Keep probing chances will come. Needs someone to dribble into the box and get that penalty

Is Rashford incapable of playing vs teams that sit deep and give him no time? I'm struggling to think of an occasion he's played well against such a team.

80% possession, 13 shots on goal but just one yes one shot on target.

At least Pereira is trying to make things happen but is such an average player. This game highlights if ever needed that Mata and Mattic are done as footballers and I can't put it into words how useless "captain" Ashley Young is once again.

Changes needed to break down that 10 man Colchester defence, that midfield doesn't have the creativity to do it by the looks of the 1st half.

It's strange because I think Ole wants us to be a high press team that dominates the ball but we're so ineffectual when we trap teams in their own half and have to break them down that it might be worth just allowing teams to progress up the pitch a bit before winning it back so we do what we do best and exploit teams on the break.

You have to wonder... We have had 3 managers and many more players coming in, but no one able to really coach them.

Doesn’t help when neither full back has any interest in the overlap. They just sit deep and expect the wide, more advanced player to send it back to them.

At no point does it seem to dawn on them that forcing the issue and overlapping, might actually create space and thus more opportunities.

Somewhere, a Norwegian Lukaku has made up his mind after watching this.

Surely his technique and first touch is being exaggerated on here. And he's young enough to improve both quite a bit.

One can certainly hope this is the case, but... We're not exactly burning up the turf with our movement. Not sure Colchester is having to work too terribly hard at milling about the final third watching our guys do passing drills.

We've had more injuries to deal with than Colchester who have the fortune of having a settled 11.

When Pogba comes back you'll see.....

Was just about to go there. The fact that City have scored, where we haven't, is offset by the fact that they've leaked a goal, whereas we haven't.

    And they're winning now.

Mind you, Oxford are a league higher than Colchester and are at home of course anyway.

We should have been 2-0 up, but Rashford missed both chances. Again today we have difficulties against weaker teams with many players behind the ball. This is the only situation, where I actually miss Pogba because of his creativity.
