If van de Beek does not start against Leipzig then there is a problem!!! OGS might just run Bruno into the ground if vdB does not start

Big problem we have is we need McFred in there.

But neither offer even the remotest creativity.
Yet Pogba is so hard to fit in, especially as Bruno is much more effective.
It was as if we had nine players on the pitch. James was anonymous as always & McFred do so much similar to each other. We lose so much creativity when both are on the pitch.

When you start with James and a slow as f uck Mata against a pressing team you just know your not going to have the same outlook as we had with Newcastle. This playing with a double DM against Chelsea who leak goals for fun was a pisstake. Whats VDB done FFS? Doesnt Ole want to win the game? The bullshit he spouted yesterday that VDB needs time to acclimatise to Utd, but fails to mention why Telles was given a start when hes never played for Utd before either. Cant wait to hear the shit he comes out with post match.

Stalemate, I thought we were a bit more positive than Chelsea, they defended well, and the game just went on and on same way from 1st whistle.
Chelsea can see they need to shore up, and it took away from there attacking play. I think if they played like they have been prior to them going to a 3 at the back, they new we would beat them pretty comfortable. 0-0 is right result in a poor game in poor conditions.

Yea, Ole was smiling at the end at this result. He looked happy with it. more ambitious manager would know that this was a lost opportunity. I bet chelsea won’t be as conservative when we meet them at their home.

It was a smile of bemusement.

You'll be saying Cavani smiling and laughing chatting to his old PSG teammate afterwards was a disgrace next.

Has he said why Telles isn't involved? Imagine they have all gone to stay at the Lowry. Then he says to Telles, who is living there at the moment, 'don't bother leaving your room as your not involved'.

Unfortunately you're right about this. :(

And we will kill them. They fear us for a reason too. You shouldn't worry about the smiling. Look at the fact that he has never mentally checked out, never thrown a player under the bus, like some other "strong" managers did when managing United.

I agree mate. It's not like we were playing relegation fodder.

We had all of the chances pretty much and nullified them. I don't recall a clear cut chance for Chelsea.

De Gea didn't make a single save whilst Mendy made three world class ones.

We looked solid today and on another day we win by a few.

    Ffs what a crap take.

Klopp was smiling after Liverpool were hammered by Aston Villa. Does that mean he was happy with it?

Sort of result and performance you’d be okay with if you were 10 points clear at the top coasting to the title and hadn’t lost 2 of your opening 4 matches. We created two chances the entire match. Fred and Mctominay are fantastic work horses but neither of them on the ball is good enough for where we want to be. We need to find a balanced midfield two that can both run and pass...it’s proving tough.

Yeh I've been wondering that for the past 5 games though. He must be going crazy.

Someone got pasted for making a thread about it very early on, but I think they are utterly vindicated.

It almost smacked of the Fellaini "bring someone in" situation, and we'd work out what to do with him later.

And we weren’t? It felt like both managers were happy for a 0-0 before the game even got going.
I just dont think we adjusted to their 3 at the back. It wasnt 3 at the back to use the spare man like we did at PSG. It was 3 at the back and fill every hole from here to the halfway line and not concede.
They werent commiting players forward, they would use the wingback to bring the ball out and only have he and the front 3 going forward with everyone else staying back. When it broke down they passed back 15 yards and the boring side to side began.
If we were happy we wouldnt have had every attacking player we had on at the end but we could have done that at half time. I give Ole the benefit of the doubt because he does commit players forward in big games but Frank is becoming more and more negative as he goes along. This was far to similar to their cup match v Spurs to be overly on Ole imo

What the feck is 'tactical inconsistency' supposed to mean?

He got the psg game right tactically and gets praised worldwide for the result. Then he comes out here today and starts daniel james. That is tactical inconsistency. I dont hate james but he has alot of improvement to do and he deserves the time to get there.. but playing him in games like this with pogba, vdb, cavani and greenwood on the bench? Actually criminal.

    Was it though?

We were the better team and created the better chances against a team we're fairly evenly matched with.
Imo Ole went safe not to lose. At home we should be more adventurous and McTom and Fred sitting deep against a team who are leaking goals for fun was the wrong way to go. This was a game for one of those with VDB given a first start and either Telles/Greenwood or both given licence to get forward either side of Rashford first half.

Thought it was a good performance from both teams. Solid. If Kepa was between the sticks, we'd have won.
I agree, I don't understand the moaning here. Mendy has 3 world class saves, Kepa would conceeded 2 goals at least. But credit to Mendy, he is man of the match.

Don't forget that block from Silva that should be a debut goal for Cavani. Lampard set the team to defend, and they did it well. We were knocking door until the final seconds, it's disapointing result but not that bad.

Think it was a tactically good game. Even James made sense as he nullified Chelsea’s James attacking game, that in fact is one very important and focal point of Chelsea’s attack. We were the better side in a narrow game - rashford should have scored and there were some chances whereas Chelsea had nothing to show. We shouldn’t believe the media - not everything is shit and not playing Vdb is also not the end of the world. Mc tominay and Fred were immense and Bruno one of the best again. It was absolutely ok to bring on pogba cavani and Greenwood as in fact that was the more attacking idea than bringing vdb on. All in all I am frustrated that we didn’t win because we deserved it more than Chelsea but it was a good performance defensively tactically and also in attack for such a game. Chelsea isn’t shit after all

Horses for courses and this wasn’t the day for both McTominay and Fred in central midfield.

I just have a working set of eyes.

Chelsea with one shot on target in 90 minutes and that was Reece James gentle free kick into the hands of DDG.

He didn't make 3 world class saves but i understand why you're choosing to escalate their quality.

It was a dire, solid defensive game with Chelsea worse culprits than us. Let's not start pretending it was anything else.

Strange take on it. United had the better chances, Mendy kept Chelsea in it with three good saves (although I'd argue the one at the death was world class but whatever). At the other end DDG didn't have a thing to do.

Utd were the better team. If Chelsea had Kepa in goal it probably would've been 2-0 atbleast as no way is he saving from Rashford in the first half or Greenwood in the 93rd. That said, Chelsea had a clear penalty turned down, so in some ways a draw was fair.

If Ole parks the bus then we create almost nothing. If we don't then his 130m signings at the back will get exposed. It's a difficult dilemma for him to sort

absolutely. These games are always tight and the first goal is massive. Think rashfords shot in the first half could have been better but was nevertheless a superb save. Da silvas block and the save in rashy in the end were all big turning points. On the other end there was nothing thanks to a superb defensive play. You can argue the pen incident but that’s it

At the end of the day and think about it however you dress it up, its another 2 points thrown away at home. I think the league is wide open this season, and a surprise club could win it. Liverpools defence is nowhere near where it was last season, and with VVD injured maybe all season, and Citys inconsistant form, we should be capitalising on this. You can see an Everton or a Spurs pinching it, even Arsenal.
