It must be tempting for Ole to stick with the system we started with last night. We look so solid, compact and comfortable playing that way and the options we can call on from the bench are a major headache for the opposition.

So easy to switch it up completely and force them to reorganise - even if we go a goal down there is comfort now knowing that we have the likes of Pogba, VDB, Mata, Cavani etc ready to come on and change things.

    I reckon Cavani will start.

I'm doubtful. Its 4 days after a match that he wasn't considered to be ready for from the bench. How much progress can he possibly have made in that time.

No need to start with Pogba in this either.

Nobody deserves to be benched after Paris.

Greenwood or Cavani for Martial. Maguire for Shaw.

Subs: Pogba and Shaw. Telles needs to be matched and I don't think he's ready for 90min yet.

The last time we played them, we lost 1-3. They bullied us and out-fought us through the park (with 21 fouls along the way). We need our best battlers for this one, so I'd stick close to what we had at PSG and Newcastle.

Cavani in place of Martial (even it's just for 45-60 minutes), with Greendwood, Mata, Pogba, VdB ready to come on.

Defend deep and stay compact in the 3-5-2, counter attack, score the first goal and i'm confident this will be an easier game than it looks on paper especially against Chelsea's defence. May be similar to the 4-0 game last season but I get the feeling the first goal will be important.

I think we're due another penalty

How much is it to watch this one?

29.99. But you get 20% off if you also purchase Fulham-Palace for 2.99, so it's actually cheaper. But they check if you've watched the full match to unlock the discount.

I'd love to see Axel start again. Have said it before but with the way our ownership and board works, we need to embrace young prospects more than ever before. Build the foundation through our academy and prospect purchases, and then supplement the team with the headline signings. Trying to do it the other way around has failed for years and leads to us overpaying for the Maguires of the world, or having disastrous summers when we feck up our transfer negotiations for the 100th time. But if we build the squad through our young players shining, then our approach in the market can be much more relaxed and selective, and the sky won't be falling when we fail to sign a big name player.

VDB and Matic to start against Leipzig in the same formation. If Greenwood is not ready then Cavani
Let's keep the formation that strangled PSG at the end.
I dont think Tuanzabe can play twice in less than a week.
Keeping an eye on Luke Shaw, he did look like he picked a knock against PSG. Telles to start against Leipzig as well

    This.

It plays to almost all our players strengths and allows Bruno and pogba the freedom they need to flourish.

Plus it makes it all the more challenging for defenders when the opponent has mobile forwards like rashford and greenwood who are difficult to mark by a traditional CB

Really looking forward to this one. I think we can and will win this match, which will be such a boost to the confidence levels. I'd maybe make 1 or 2 changes as we have a serious run of games coming up, so rotation and sharpness will be key.

Chelsea can field an outrageously good attack but their defence still plays at League 1 level at times.

Keep it tight and boring at the back while we can create up front

After the PSG game, i think Axel deserves to start, but most probably he wont. I want to see Telles start as well, even though Shaw had a great game too.

I like the idea of the midfield diamond, as it nullified PSG completely. Fred, Scott, Pobga, Bruno with Marcus and Mason up front looks pretty good.

    Their defense is shit so...

4231 with Fred-McTominay to protect our defense and hit their midfield, done.

    De Gea
    AWB -- Axel -- Lind/Mag -- Shaw
    McT -- Fred
    Greenwood -- Bruno -- Pogba/VDB
    Rashford

Please tell me you're joking

This is a very important match for us, especially after the PSG result.
I would certainly back staying with the same lineup.
And we have options to allow key substitutions.
Chelsea are one of our biggest rivals and there is no reason why United cannot beat them.
Our attitude needs to be right.

Maybe not for this game, but we will need to rest Rashford and Bruno at some point this forthcoming week.

The good thing is, there are two obvious and quality replacements for the both of them who haven't had much game time in VdB and Greenwood. I'd wager VdB comes in for Bruno against Leipzig and Greenwood comes in for Rashford against Arsenal.

I reckon Pogba will also start on Saturday, possibly Matic too.

EDIT - First XI would be:

    DDG

    Shaw - Maguire - Lindelof - AWB

    Matic - Pogba

    Rashford - Bruno - James

    Greenwood

Subs: Cavani, Telles on for Shaw and Greenwood

RE-EDIT - If Cavani is ready for 90 minutes, I'd be tempted to start both him and Telles instead, and have Greenwood start against Arsenal (and rest Rashford in the process).

Ever since we smashed them 4-0 last season there's been a rivalry between us and them again. The two teams are also similar in quality

if we go back to Paul in the double pivot in a 4-2-3-1 then OGS has not learned a thing
Second half territory vs PSG: 36.4% – before Pogba ↓ 53.1% – after Pogba

Yes, a bit of a dilemma for Ole, does he keep the same system, and get slated for playing defensively against Chelsea, or go to a back 4 and get slated for changing a winning system. Both PSG and Chelsea have their strength in their attack, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a back three again, perhaps with Maguire (if fit) if Shaw has taken a knock, otherwise he may play Shaw at LWB while Telles adjusts to the Prem. Werner likes to run in behind, so we would need a CB with pace, so Axel should start. Up front will be interesting, Rashford certain to play, probably in a striker mode, not sure if Cavani or Pellistri are ready to start, but could start with Pogba left and VDB right, with Bruno central, all three could swap positions at any time, and all three make good late runs into the box, and can score goals, Pogba is also excellent (most of the time) at scoring with headers. An alternative I've seen is playing Bruno on the left, he would certainly track back to cover Chelsea's wing back, as would VDB on the right. Wouldn't use Mata in this game, I would play him in the games where we have the majority of the ball against a low block/ defensively set up team.
I think we may see Cavani or Pellistri get 15 minutes towards the end, and I'm looking forward to seeing both of them get some minutes on the pitch.
Whatever system Ole uses, he will be rated useless if we lose, and brilliant if we win, so no pressure then.

I don't think he'll drop the McFred axis, because they have so many slick attackers that are likely to play. But he might put Rashford up top, with Mata Bruno Pogba behind?

Rooting for the back 5, just so I can see Telles whip those corners in again

I think this should be a cracker of a contest.
    Two inconsistent but talented sides.
Two unproven managers adored by their respective clubs.
Two most successful teams in the PL era.
    Two teams with questionable defense.

We'll need two upfront because Lampard will go back to the three at the back formation that worked so well for him the last time. Their wing backs will double up on our full backs, again, and keep them pegged back.
I hope we match it with another 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 of our own.

    DDG
    AWB-Axel-Lindelof-Shaw-Telles
    Pogba-Matic-DVB
    Bruno
    Greenwood-Rashford
