We’ve not been brilliant but neither have they. The good news is we can play a lot better.

I'm delighted we're winning and enjoying the game, doesn't mean you should just go "all is great woohoo" and not offer thoughts on where we've been lacking. What would be the point in a forum otherwise?

Seems like we can't cope with the quick passing on the wet pitch. Both side with zero rhythm to their triangles, passing and combinations.

There should be a point where it clicks but this has to be a regular thing rather than once every three games. Otherwise we will have to rely on luck.

Worryingly everyone looks on a different wave length. Pogba has done some good but looks sluggish and potentially a little overweight/chunky.

Besides from that we should have a better second half.

Right side is such a glaring hole with Pereria and Lingard interchanging. Need more control and tempo from Pogba and McTominay. Very open and entertainig game so far

Weird. I thought that was a fun first half. We are definitely not sitting back anymore. Interchanging press is good to see and has caused Chelsea issues at the back.

Our passing could be a bit more crisper but, it's the first game of the season so that will come in time.

They keep the ball really well, probably a remnant of the Sarri era, but they look more penetrative so far today than they did last season.

We need to get another because Chelsea are opening us up with quite some ease.

For what it's worth we should remember we're playing Chelsea and not bottom of the table fodder.

I want us to improve but it's one of the hardest games of the season out of the way.

We've been very good on the counter. Martial and rashford need to calm down on a few of those and we'll be through on goal.

Good intensity from the team, and loving the confidence of our backline in beating the Chelsea press. Such a pleasure to watch.

The second half is only going to get better. Lingard and Andreas have been passengers. Need to get in the game.

We are VERY lucky to be leading at half time here. Unfortunately we have not seen any evidence of the style of play that looked like was in development over the summer.

I thought Rashford had an awful first 20 minutes. Seemed to lose or give away the ba constantly. Thankfully he took his penalty well. But in general we've gotten nothing from our attacking players. Martial, Lingard and Perreira have offered very little. Pogba doing his usual trick of trying to be too Cleeve and giving the ball away. Frustrating.

Wan Bissaka probably the player I've been most impressed with so far but it's not a long list of impressive players so far.

Gary Neville is such a pro England dick in commentary at times. He kept on banging on about Martial being up top instead of Rashford as if he hadn't seen a single preseason game.

Is it so inconceivable that Ole wants to try Martial up front?

Our defence has been fine. It’s our midfield that has not been offering them any protection at all. We are getting overrun in that area which is causing us problems.

Ummm yes? We're beating high intensity presses much better, not banging in mindless crosses, no mindless hoofball from the backline. Give the system time to work. Not signing midfielders isn't his fault.

Wasn't Phil Jagielka clocked as the fastest player in the league one year? Those stats mean nowt. I have eyes and I can see who is fast and who isn't. Michael Owen in 1998 was fast, Anthony Martial is not.

Pereira's been keeping the pressure up on Chelsea's midfield 2. I don't think Gomes would currently be able to do that, and with his height it'll be interesting whether he can do that generally in future.

This performance highlights exactly why we are still a few new players short of being a great team. Regardless though we might be getting into a position where we are going to have to rely on the youth a lot more. Gomes, Chong and Greenwood could probably get into this team if they continue to perform when selected and of course keep progressing as well.

Pogba has been over complicating the game. He could have played the give and go instead of trying to outmuscle the player.

I agree Shaw and AWB are not playing well with the ball but it feels like Pogba wants to get into the highlight reels
