Two weeks ago we were favorites to beat them with Mourinho putting the final nail in Conte's coffin. Now all of a sudden it feels like they are the favorites.

We need a big response this weekend. Anything other than a win would be awful.
They were quite brave against Barcelona, we were overcautious and toothless against Sevilla, it explains a lot about the feeling they're favorites now.

Or we can put it this way, win is good, draw is very poor. Draw is poor.

Not winning at home is poor as we don't win away from home. It's as simple as that.

I don't understand why anyone would say draw isn't a bad result considering we are playing at home and against a team not better than us.
At the moment, they do seem so. As they did in the away game, also.

Hazard- Willian are in a bit of form. Can't really say anyone apart from De Gea is in form for Utd. Lingard showed some consistency for a while but he has lost his place. I think Sanchez has created another problem rather than a solution. We are overstocked with players who want to play on the left.

I thought Sanchez was brought to play on the RW (as he did at Barcelona). I think the balance of the team has completely gone now. We look disjointed and uncoached. I hope we can step up vs Chelsea with Liverpool up next, we need to win these games if we want to finish in the top 4.
You're completely right. We got a top player, but lost the team's balance. Overall, incredible as it sounds, we are worse than we were.

    Dont overcomplicate Jose,

The reality is that they didn't get a positive result, and that was because they were a nervous wreck at the back for the whole game. Long before the Barcelona goal, the Chelsea back line were dithering at the back trying to pass it out and were losing the ball.

Furthermore, them having more attempts on goal was because of Willian playing out of his skin (and some poor defending from Barcelona). The fact is that Conte did exactly what Mourinho is criticized for, keep it tight at the back and let the attackers cause havoc without support from the midfield.

Sevilla have the 3rd best home record of the spanish teams; most teams have learnt of their quality when going there.
Mourinho's being criticized for something he didn't even managed to do at Sevilla. Even Liverpool drew 3-3, which is a much better result. Mourinho just doesn't like any risk, he became overcautious, it stifles the team.

The injury to Herrera highlights just how poor our midfield options are. The thought of having to pick two from Carrick, Matic and McTominay here worries me.

    Suicidal midfield.

    De Gea
    Valencia Lindelof AN Other Shaw
    Bailly
    McTominay Pogba
    Lingard
    Lukaku Martial

Time to rest Matic methinks, the poor lad has looked ready for the Travellers yard for a few weeks now, and the last thing he needs, and we need is him being given the run-around by players that know his game inside out.

We've tried everything else this season so maybe its time to play the diamond formation with Eric at the base, with the flexibility for him to drop seamlessly into a back three if needed, Lingard at the tip in contact with Lukaku and Martial, with the width being provided by the fullbacks, what could possibly go wrong ?

Not sure why, but whoever Mourinho picks, or whatever formation he plays I think we'll put in one of our better displays of the season(shouldn't be too hard), and win reasonably comfortably, 2-0 or 3-1

We have to win this one, no excuses no fecking sitting back we have to attack at Old Trafford and beat the plastics.

At the moment, they do seem so. As they did in the away game, also.

Just 2 games before they lost to Bournemouth and Watford with aggregated score of 7-1. Then they beat WBA and Hull.

They aren't better than us and away game and that's the reason. Last season they won at Bridge, we won at OT with them having 0 shots on target. Playing at home we are stronger than playing at Bridge, thought that was very obvious.

    God
    Valencia Smalling Jones Shaw
    Matic
    Lingard Pogba
    Martial Lukaku Sanchez

    3-1 United.

More I think about it, 352 seems viable here.
    De gea
    Bailly Smalling Lindelof
    Valencia Matic Pogba Young
    Sanchez
    Martial Lukaku
One benefit it has at least is putting the front 3 all where they perform at their best (Sanchez in a free role, martial playing just off a bigger striker, lukaku playing in a front 2), and pogba having a back 3 behind him to give him a bit more freedom to attack. Considering Herrera and fellaini are injured, might be time to use it.

Exact team I expect to see. I think it'd work well for us not only in this game but going forward to other games aswell.

Also just realized that 6 of our last 7 games were away from home... how the feck did that happen. Sanchez only played the one game at Old Trafford (and scored) so hopefully he gets another!

Next 6 we have 5 home games before playing City away. So we should gain some form and momentum.

Major game for Jose this. Win this and you also win some of the fans back on your side and gain a much needed momentum for the latter part of the season. Lose this, and you'll have quite a pickle in your hand. Things are already messy regarding Martial/Pogba/Alexis situation and will only get worse.

I don't understand how some are so confident we'll get the result. If Chelsea get their act together, they are well capable of beating us and we're nowhere near being a team who is playing with confident. I'm very nervous about this but as always, I'll hope we'll win.

Have tons of other stuff to do Sunday afternoon but will try to catch the first 20 and see if they learnt their lesson. No excuses this time - no sitback, no waiting, no relying on DDG. Use our half a billion squad and actually at least try to attack like others. Rather lose 2-3 with positive football than grind out another 0-0 or 1-1.

For the love of God, I hope we take the game to Chelsea and win.
Can't even begin to imagine how low I'd feel if we don't win.

We either draw or lose because we're shite or alternatively, win well and give us another false dawn just to lose against some other shite team.

We could just pick one if we choose to go 3 at the back which is a big possibility I think. The lack of available and onform midfielders plus the return of Bailly may force us to do just that.

I hope for a Jose masterclass, however, I am afraid that Conte will be looking much happier than Mou at the end of the game.

    Suicidal midfield.

What do you suggest otherwise ? Matic is shot, he’s either playing with injury or exhausted, McTominay for Lingard ? Hmm maybe but I was thinking Lingard doing a Herrera Job on Hazard, we are so light in Midfield it’s scary

Matic isn't exhausted. This fatigue thing is overplayed. Since Jan 1st he has played 8 games, that's nearly 54 days for 8 games and an average 1 game per week.

Even if he plays Chelsea game then it's 9 games in 56 days, that 6 days per game.

After Everton game he got 2 weeks off before he played next game vs Stoke.

I have predicted same line up with Rojo instead of Jones. Thought he was injured.

I didn't know he was.. in which case yes Rojo.. I just want Matic to be rested/dropped and ideally I would play Martial for Lukaku but Jose doesn' drop him..

I have Matic instead of Carrick too. I didn't see your post correctly :D

But Matic has had to do all the dog's work on his own every game. Mentally and physically that's ridiculous. He looked shattered against Sevilla, Banega was squeezing the last bits of juice out of him.

It's Chelsea's game if they want it. Would prefer a draw.

    Sorry but that's ridiculous.

    Sorry but that's ridiculous.

Not really. It is Chelsea who will bring the game to United while United will sit back and try to hit on the counter which we all know doesn't work well. So if Chelsea attack well then they are bound to score while recent attacking pattern at United has been heavily dependent on individual brilliance rather than tactics.

Matic has looked tired for weeks, it’s a big concern.
But why? Fernandinho doesn't look tired and he plays as much as Matic. Kante played 34 games, only two fewer than Matic. He's not knackered either.

We beat Chelsea last season after they have the title pretty much sealed up and Pogba was bossing the midfield.

This season, we are in shambles and Chelsea still have so much to play for. I don't see how we are going to nick this.

Chelsea are very organized in defense and will have their chances in attack. This is going to be a tough game, much more difficult than the last one against Sevilla. We are knackered, midfield is on bare bones. Hoof it up and watch Rom struggle.
