Biggest positive today - No Hernandez. :smirk:

Not too concerned who starts up front for us, we don't need Costa to score against Utd's defence.
You could stick Cech up front and he'd still score.

Carrick is not fit so my lineup is exactly like yours except for Fellaini instead of Carrick. Fellaini and Blind will provide good cover for our defence.

Ohh, then i would put Fellaini too instead of Carrick. I hope we'll see a similar side like ours.

    errrrr

Carrick to play some sort of role today then..?

    @GraemeCarrick
"8.5 years on, still never take for granted going to Old Trafford to see @carras16 do his thing, especially after 5-6 month out. Can't wait!"

Naughty, Greame! Don't give it away you fool

Very interesting though, I doubt he would tweet that unless his brother has been told he has a role to play today. Which seems way too early for me.

Would anyone else be tempted for 4-5-1 with Valencia wide right to try and sure up our defence somewhat?
    Valencia is still injured.

    I'd go with this:

    De Gea
    Rafa - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
Herrera - Blind - Di Maria
Mata - van Persie - Young

    Subs: Fellaini, Januzaj

    I'd go with:

    DDG
    Rafael-Jones-Rojo-Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera----- Di Maria
    Januzaj -----------Valencia
    Falcao

Looks like Falcao might be out for this game. Us winning this game will have a big significance on the team. Just hoping we can pull off an upset here.

    433.
    De Gea
    Rafael Smalling Jones Shaw
    Blind Carrick
    Herrera
    Januzaj Di Maria
    Falcao
    Valencia for Carrick after 60.

DDG / Rafael, Jones, Rojo, Shaw / Herrera, Blind, Di Maria / Mata / Van Persie, Someoneelse

Won't stray too far from the recent formula.

Can't see us doing it but I hope we give them a game at least!

That tweet has really confused me. Didn't think Carrick would have a chance of starting today

Ruud Gullit blurb from the BBC:
"The biggest surprise was that Louis van Gaal didn't buy any defenders with the money that he had. Knowing that you have a bad defence and not buying any defenders was a little bit strange. I think Manchester United will have ups and downs but eventually van Gaal will get it right. He's going to get a run and get his points and definitely get into the top four.

I think for United it is too early to play Chelsea in this game because defensively they are not that good. I think Chelsea are very solid and I like the way they play this year. They are much better because there's more variety and they're more attacking and much more of a unit.

Last season was very disappointing for Mourinho and he wasn't used to that. Chelsea for me are the favourites and I don't think Manchester United are going to win this game. I don't think United will win a trophy this season, Van Gaal is preparing them for next season. He's got the players now up front but he doesn't have them yet at the back and that's his own mistake for not buying any defenders."

A centre back, a left back and a defensive midfielder, Ruud.

Rumours Carrick will start/play some part.

I think we will see a 4-3-3 if Carrick will be starting the game.
    --------Defense-----------
    --Herrera--carrick---blind--
    --Rvp----Falcao-----Di maria

With RVP cutting in from the right and Di maria doing as he wishes from left. Carrick and blind holding with herrera supplying the forward line and doing the box to box role.

Di Maria has to play in the Central role as he gets more of the ball

I thought that Carrick played a reserves game on Friday evening?
Is this not what LvG said in his press conference? Or did I mis-hear?

Trains and travel problems.....haha. What is the weather like? Maybe a deluge would slow Chelski down.

I am pretty surprised at the negativity today. We have been shite but if they can't get up for this match we might as well still have Moyesey managing. This is a chance for Utd to show that they are better than they have played and to get Utd supporters invested in actively supporting them instead of waiting for the next shoe to fall.

If pressed I'd have to admit Chelsea are favorites but I'd damn well like to see Utd play well in a big match.

What is the weather like today in greater Manchester?

If Chelsea score first we are well and truly fecked.
Jose is the king of defending a lead.

    -------------Blind---------------
    -Herrera---Fellaini---Di Maria
    ---Falcao/Wilson---RvP---------

We are the underdogs and have nothing to lose. I'm looking forward to it.

Edit, would also be happy with the defensive option of,

I think Carrick played for the under 21s on Friday, would be very surprised if he starts.

I agree, but the rumours seem to come from his brothers tweet:

"8.5 years on, still never take for granted going to Old Trafford to see @carras16 do his thing, especially after 5-6 month out. Can't wait!"

Rumors of a 17:00 kick off due to a delayed train from London, anything on Sky Sports yet?

United saying the match will not be delayed, according to Daily Mail.

Reading its true on social media but also hearing its a joke about most United fans being from London

Chelsea are giving us an hour's headstart. ;)
