Well done from the lads today. Would have been nice to get the result in the first leg but today there were a lot of positives despite Fellaini starting as a striker. Cudos to LvG his plan today worked really well.

Well it's not surprising, he's one of the leagues best strikers, played his entire career as a forward/striker.
I for one understand entirely why he sucks playing there.
Because he isn't a midfielder.

I thought he had a decent game, a long way from being a liability in midfield. 2 poorly weighted passes right near the end but he did a good job playing in the midfield. I would much rather see Herrera on and Rooney up front but there is no way he was our worst player or a liability.

Rooney was probably the worst of the lot.. Horrible passing, crossing to opposition players.. In fact picking them pretty accurately..
Fellaini as usual made some irritating passes, but his presence definitely helped..
All others had good game..

Agree with McNair, think he's earned a chance to start as right back (note: NOT wing back, though he might not be bad at that) again, he impressed me every time he did anything.
However I though Fellaini was crap (and I normally defend him where possible). His control was poor and slow every time he touched the ball, seemed to get tackled and mis-pass constantly. He did improve in the 2nd half with some good tackles himself though. I can see that his height up front is a good asset (it basically gifted us most of our chances in the 1st half) but he just doesn't seem very good at it, far too ponderous and wasteful with the ball. He could basically be replaced with a tall pole stuck in the ground.
Wilson hit the ground running and seemed to change the way we attacked almost straight away. Smalling was much better at getting the ball out of defence than Jones was. There was also some brilliant super-fast passing movements in attack which were a joy to watch. Though it was frustrating wondering why we haven't tried that more often in other games.- Status
