I think this idea that the #6 is a player you only need to shut up big games is wrong, that midfield 3 puts a ridiculous amount of work on Herrera and we have no orchestrator in the team.

As for no Micki but the inclusion of fecking Rooney, well, par for the course.
Nah that midfield 3 actually works quite well for this. Mata puts in loads of controlling work and Herrera is disciplined enough to hold the midfield. We still play 3 in midfield, just rotate the carrick position with Mata.

That midfield 3 is excellent for a home game vs Burnley.
Herrera won't have so much work to do as you think as we'll be on a front foot probably most of the game.

Lingard is a despairing player to look at when the team is not playing well, but his movement has been essential in our best games, hope this is one of them.

Why are Rojo and Herrera always listed with full names unlike everyone else?

I didn't really believe the notions that Mourinho is a very defensive coach, but I'm seeing it now. . . Completely dropping from the squad our 2 most technical / flair players. This is getting worse than LVG.

At least Mata is in there.

I wonder when my dream line up front 4 of Miki, Mata, Martial and Zlatan would ever be realised?

Watching the United players walking off the bus and into old trafford they were carrying backpacks or luggage bags. Miki was just carrying a toiletries type of bag.

Yeah Rashford and Lingard are defensive players. Also Martial is probably injured.

Your last sentence is a bit ridiculous too.

I would have liked to try Rashford upfront with Zlatan in the number 10 role like it looked like he played against Leicester dropping deep.

    Who?

    Martial is injured ffs

Martial is injured (same with Valencia). Also look at that lineup, theres not a defensive player in the midfield and attack. Yes its weird as feck what is happening with Mkhitaryan but Mourinho only goes conservative in big games, days like today is just about all out attack

None of those 3 can hold a candle to Carrick as regards to dictating a game, Bayern don't wheel out Alonso just for tough games, or Barca Busquets when it's Real Madrid, they are part of the fabric of a balanced midfield. We are playing a box to box as a DM with 2 #10's and no help, the PL don't have pushovers these days where you can do that IMO. When Carrick is on we flow better becasue the starting point of our attack is an intelligent passer with great range, who also has the right discipline for the role to free the others, Herrera isn't that player.

Defensive coach whose team always scored goals and was always in top 3 when it came to goals scored?

Herrera has been doing just fine when he played with Pogba and Mata...

Who are you talking about? Mata a is there playing and Martial is injured.

Miki is still apparently no ready yet. I'd be worried if both Lingard and Rashford play ahead of fit and ready Martial-Miki.

Agree but, as Mou pointed out, Carrick is too old to play every game. We have to pick and choose when to use him and today isn't one of those days.

The lack of a #6 we can play consistently is a squad issue rather than a selection issue.

    It's horsecrap, isn't it?

What baloney. Not adjusting to the pace of the Premier League, but then crucial minutes at a game against Burnley which would aid that adjustment are not given. He's hiding something. Smoke and mirror's. There's disciplinary issues at play here.

Where the hell is Martial? So frustrating that he is not in the starting XI provided he is not injured.

This is the type of game we can get away with a midfield pairing of Herrera and Pogba so not to bothered Carrick is not starting.

Surprised Mikhi is not on the subs bench. With Martial, Valencia and Bailly all out it would seem the ideal time to get him on the subs bench.

Yep, how is he supposed to get a competitive level of intensity without minutes? At least as a sub. Sounds like he's been lazy in training.

Why is there a plethora of idiots going on about Martial?

Jose said he had a knock v City so it's blatantly obvious he's not fit to play. Same with Valencia.

When he was cagey in his presser about the team I think it was obvious we had a few hidden injuries he didn't want to reveal for obvious reasons.

I'll have the discussion about Mkhitaryan as I did expect he'd make the bench but following the positive comments yesterday I'm confident Jose knows what he's doing and he will feature when right for the team, not just because the Caf wanks demand it.

Now get behind the starting XI today and stop being a shower of little bitches.
