    With a mid table back line we’re gonna get mid table results. Made worse by a keeper having a confidence crisis.

    I suspect that’s partially because we’re going to try and a fundamentally different approach this game.

    With this CB pairing I bet we’ll play a deeper line, sitting back more and letting them come onto us a bit, which means this game may be better suited to Bruno and Rashford counter-attacking threat.

    What is this revisionist history? Mount had a perfectly good last game and Eriksen ran the match for the first 25 after he came on.
     
    I'm covering the defenders in the line up with my hands, so I don't have to look at it. Just hope we get a few early goals and put the game to bed as quickly and easily as possible.

    We just need to win and not pick up any more injuries. Needs must.

    Squad just looks ridiculous even the full fit team lacks balance on paper, really weird way to have assembled this bunch with almost half a billion spent.
     
    He is trying to shoehorn Mount into the side, isn't he..

    Case alone deep doesnt work. Can't drop Bruno.. Need Amrabat alongisde Casemiro..

    I miss the days of Mata on the right wing.. I wanted to go from that to a proper winger and now we have our best attacking midfielder stuck there because ETH is stupid.
     
    The defence is terrifying and I think it sends out a bad message to not drop some of the underperforming players.

    I just hope the midfield of Amrabat and Casemiro provides a bit more steel in the middle of the park so that the defence doesn't get exposed.

    Why do people always ignore the fact that first team units like defence are not directly comparable to makeshift units, regardless of the individuals?

    Mount has been very good the last two games.
     
    I hope Lindelof is at LB and Dalot at RB. Lindelof isn't going to do anything but come inside and pass it short or dribble a tad, so no real benefit to playing him on the right, whereas Dalot low crosses to Hojlund actually looked fairly dangerous a few games back.

    If I was a dead man walking as manager I'd at least have some fun with it.

    Isn't martinez still out with effectively the same one bad injury? Has he missed other games with a different injury?
     
    Happy enough with that line up. Defence is a bit of a mess but I don't really see any better way of shuffling the pack.

    Glad he's picked Rashford, despite the howls from some of our fans to punish him. He needs to play his way into form, we need a firing Rashford this season.

    Bruno coming in from the right is fine, much the same way Pedri/Gavi worked well for Barca with Pedri as a false left-winger, but it'll need the width to come from the right back and if that's Lindelof we might not see it.

    I'd sell him. Shame really because he's good when fit. He just simply can't be relied on. Yeah, Martinez is concerning.

    Hes playing them beside each other. Did you even look at the team?

    Martinez played throughout most of last season. He got an injury at the end of the season and it's the same injury that's crippling him now. Nowhere near the level as Varane.

    We needed to buy a replacement for him in the summer.

    Totally different.
    Varane has a string of minor injuries and Martinez had one more serious injury of which he's re-damaged now.

    Glad he's gone for the Lindelof moving to full back option, and finally put Amrabat in with Casemiro.

    Hopefully it's just one game more we have to have a dodgy full back situation, as you've got to hope one of the injured left backs is back soon.
