  • Ratings were about right ….Utd were playing Barnsley not prime Barca
Opposition shouldn’t come into ratings in an individual match. You play what’s in front of you and the rating is 1-10.

Some of the posts in here are hilarious.
Normal service will be resumed against Palace,
You all need to give your heads a wobble

Sure. But the quality of the opposition still has an impact in that sense. Rashford and Garnacho played really well and against opposition like this playing really well resulted in two goals each, general good play and creation of lots of chances. Playing exceptionally - a 9 or 10 performance - would certainly have resulted in a hat-trick each. Garnacho skied an easy chance. Rashford stumbled a couple of moments. Neither put in a perfect or nearly-perfect performance so I think anything above a 9 would be an overreaction.

I say this having basically never paid any attention to player ratings on here so forgive me if this is entirely out of line with how it is all meant to work - just my unschooled two cents.

Sure, don’t disagree with any of that I’m just disputing that the quality of opposition restricts the overall rating a player can get. If Rashford was called into Sunday league as a ringer and scored 6 goals and got 4 assists that’s objectively a 9/10 or 10/10 performance as he’s solely responsible for a very convincing rout, it’s daft to say “yeah but he’s premier league he should be scoring 20”, he’s judged against his team mates and opponents in that single match.

We should be able to field the players that need game time for this, sprinkled with a mixture of those trying to break through, and still win comforably.
But this is ETH he will probably field the strongest 11 possible.
This was your post before the game, and we were able to do just that. We were able to execute the plan perfectly, rotating out 8 players who started against Southampton, and also managed to give Collyer his first start. It was a solid display of squad depth and a well-managed rotation.

Yet, this was your first comment after the game, and there wasn't even the slightest hint of positivity, despite the fact that we did exactly what you wanted.

You've also been criticizing Onana, but offered no praise when he saved a penalty against Southampton and kept a clean sheet.

At this point, do you find anything about United enjoyable? It feels like you're only focusing on the negatives, even when there are clear positives to choose from.

When I see this team beat the likes of Liverpool and City convincingly in the league, and go on a decent run of wins, in the league, then I will be a little more positive.
At the moment, we can only beat teams that are deemed inferior, this win is nothing to shout about, it was expected United would win, and win comfortably.
There are no positives in soundly beating a team a full two divisions below you.
There are not positives from Onana making one good save, when he makes up for it with 5 mistakes.
Life is full of opinions, mine is different from yours, move on, get over it.

Almost a literal definition of fans who “only sing when you’re winning”.

There were lots of positives from the game, even if Barnsley are two divisions (and two FULL ones at that) below us. Seems like you just don’t want to see them… which would be fine if you also didn’t see the negatives.

We are fast becoming a mid-table team that does well in cups, and that is it.
Can you not see any improvement at all this season? We’re conceding less shots. Having more possession. I think I seen the other day that we top the charts for winning the ball back high up the pitch. All small details that will make us a better team and with all the new signings this season we’ll be 100x better than last year.

When your first reaction after a big win is to say "people need to give their heads a wobble," it seems like you're the one who needs to move on.

If all you can do is complain about the negatives while completely dismissing the positives—especially after a dominant 10-0 aggregate victory in two games—it reeks of agenda posting.

Anyway, thanks for giving me a reason to put you on ignore. It seems you're determined to keep up with the constant negativity and refuse to give credit even where it's due, especially given your reply.

I've been in the Stretty many times singing when we were losing, we were still singing when we were in the second division, yes I am that effing old.
I just have high standards and deserve better from players who earn in a week what most of us take 10 yrs to earn

    Improvements where?
    We lost to Brighton
    We lost to Liverpool
    Where's the improvement?

Playing well against a team that has scored once in the EPL, and then doing it against a team from Mid-table League One, is not an improvement, too many people have got used to mediocre football, I haven't, I expect more.

The Liverpool game is the only game where we was really poor. The Brighton game we dominated first half and should have won. We don’t often dominate possession against Brighton.

It was man v boy stuff, the men taking care of business. Before the match started there were some bedwetting posts, which is understandable considering our first three performances this season, but in the end we mauled the League One side we were supposed to maul.

If there's one notable positive to take from the match it is our finishing. Yes of course the defending was poor but we've had clean looks on goal against EPL opponents and soiled our pants but last night when we had clean looks on goal we finished them fantastically. Something to build on.

Well I watched this last night and thought it was thoroughly enjoyable. I also really hoped we'd emulate the 7 nil of 1997 - and we did!

I know some people are saying they were only League One, but we've played similar level teams before in cups and made it by the skin of our teeth. Not only that, but some of the supposed top of the league teams have won similar ties 3 or 4 nil/one in recent seasons and the attitude was 'job done'. Well we got the job done by scoring 7 and I'm well happy with that.

It’s far too early to think after scoring 10 goals against pretty poor opponents that the team is fully engaged and has completely done a 180.

    However we should be pragmatic and take it game by game, Palace away won’t be easy and we need to win, not draw but win and try and keep another clean sheet. If we assume that Southampton have replaced Sheffield United from last season then the following is a fair like for like comparison this season;
    EPL 23/24 Season - Sheffield UTD (A) W 2-1 , Brighton (A) W 2-0, Liverpool(H) D 2-2, Fulham(H) L 0-1. - Total points 7 GS 6 GA4 GD+2

    EPL 24/25 Season - Fulham(H) - W1-0, Brighton(A) L 2-1, Liverpool (H) - L 0-3, Southampton (A) - W 0-3 - Total Points 6 GS5 GC5 GD 0

The team is actually performing worse than last season relatively however that can change in one game if we beat Palace as that would be a 2 Point improvement from last year.

Conclusion - The noise needs to die down, the club and all its players need to knuckle down, game by game and look to win the next very difficult pl game then we must Try and win their first EL match next Wednesday and go on a decent run.

If and it’s still a massive if with this squad and Manager, we might have collected 19/20 points from the First 10 EPL, have 9/10 points in the first four games EL games then and only then can we as a fanbase start to have a modicum of confidence about the season and how it might unfold

We look improved in defence, Still undercooked in midfield and hopefully 3 or 4 of our 6/7 squad based strikers hit some form and actually start enjoy scoring and assisting goals.

We Need to see Zirkzee score a few more, Mason Mount actually turn up and perform regularly and Bruno not play as much so he’s much fresher in the big games

Rasmus, Amad, Rashford and Garnaucho just need to all think 15-20 goals and assists in all competitions each this year and that’s the bare minimum you need to achieve if you want to continue to play for this club.

Since when are points awarded for dominating a game?

I'm not going anywhere though, just putting you on ignore.

Didn't expect any reading comprehension from a guy who completely fails to see any positives anyways.
I thought you had me on ignore, another fail on your part
