Reds, yes. Cumulative yellows are competition specific now. Players were taking yellows to wipe them and get suspended for cup games, which undermined the system.
Oh right, even more annoying then! Thanks

Don't mind if we get knocked out. It will feel bad at the time but in the long run with a world cup interrupted season we will hopefully get the rewards from not being in it

Of the 4 competitions this one means the least to me and our squad isn't good enough to compete on all 4 fronts.

Also as previous seasons have shown... we put lot of effort into this competition only to lose to City later on anyway. Hahahaha.

I want us to be able to focus on getting back into the CL. The League cup can wait for another year when we are better prepared.

I want the players to put the weekend result right. Show they are better than this bunch of cnuts and their new manager bollocks.

Just field a balanced team so we're not gassed against Fulham ffs.

We need to go all out to win both games seeing as the world Cup starts after Fulham.

Staying in the league Cup is important as it's a trophy we can win.

I get what your saying but if this is a chance of getting silverware then we need to go all out for it. Especially since a good teams being knocked out of it first round in Chelsea or city. Ten Hag won’t accept anything less then 100% in every game and every competition we’re in. Like he’s said loads of times, no matter what competition we’re in we want to win it as that should be our standard. To win every single game!

Do you seriously think we can win the League Cup?
Why do fans do this to themselves?

Tbh with us drawing Barca in Europe and being second favs to go through in that tie then this changes things a bit.

I still think us trying to compete in all 4 competitions is a disastrous approach. We don't have the depth for it.

C’mon! Giving up at an early stage will be an even more inevitable route to disaster and disappointment. Who are these clubs with this legendary depth people keep talking about? Do we just fold to City in the opening rounds and weeks of the season forever now?

Old Trafford is sold out, we have appointed an ambitious manager who understands the importance of engraining a winning mentality where we look to become a dominant club again, and people still to field a soft team so we might just lose and pretend we don’t want to win anyway? Some of you deserve Poch.

People keep engaging in this fallacy where somehow throwing away three opportunities, to concentrate all of our efforts on a single competition, would increase our odds of success over just having four different shots at it in the first place.

Wouldn’t mind seeing sancho get some minutes if he’s fit. Hopefully can show us something to prove he can contribute this season.

perhaps overly optimistic but sancho, martial and rashford together looked good in preseason..

Why do fans do this to themselves?

Why on earth would Manchester united not be capable of winning the league Cup?

Maybe every team that isn't City, Liverpool or Arsenal should not bother either.

No point in getting their fans hopes up eh? No club that isn't City, Liverpool or arsenal has ever won a cup. Why are villa even bothering to turn up on Thursday? Sure they might go through, but they won't win it, so why bother?

Do you see my point here?

Doubt he’ll rest many, only one other game after this before the WC. I know a lot of our squad are going to Qatar, but they won’t all play a lot and some may not go far in the competition. Much of the squad will get some rest.

The opening post says this is a 6PM Kickoff , I assume this is wrong and it is actually an 8PM kick off?

Reserve XI please. They’ll okay better than last weekend’s team

Ye they do look good together. But every time something looks good or is working it gets changed. I remember under ole when he was playing 4-3-3 we was playing some of the best football I’ve seen and winning games but then he decides to go 4-2-3-1.

Ye people who are doubting us are ridiculous. We can win any trophy we’re competing in. Even Swansea have won the league cup before. This is probably our best chance of winning something since we’ve drawn the hardest team in Europe. The only team that can possibly stop us is city. We’ve shown that we can beat every other team.

Without Antony or Sancho returning I'll switch formation to a 442 diamond, no point using make shift right wingers.

    Dubrawka
    Dalot Maguire Martinez Malacia
    Casemiro
    Zidane Fred
    Bruno
    Martial Rashford

Fully agree with this. Just by looking at our options at the back for a start. Dalot plays almost every minute out of lack of options, Licha the same, Victor and Harry is not playing great at the moment but we got nothing else. Casemiro and Eriksen are the 2 best options we have for midfield by some distance, but it is impossible for them to play and look sharp every game. Winning this cup would be awesome of course, but if there is anywhere Erik should take some chances and rotate his team properly, it is here.

Considering how packed our schedule is and how thin our squad is, we should really be playing the B team and giving some of the young 'uns some minutes. It's alright if we crash out of this competition considering we don't even have free slots to schedule some PL games due to the extra EL fixture.

    Id play a B team

AWB needs minutes before Fulham where he might be needed, Lindelof, Maguire and Malacia play

Id stick Fred, McTominay and VDB in again

Would like to see Pellestri get a chance. Garnacho again on left or maybe Sancho if he is fit.

    Something to prove against Villa

not bothered about progress in this especially with players like Garnacho getting minutes anyway

    Donny needs loaned/sold asap

Noooo.. Maybe Zidane could get a chance here? If the bar is doing more for the team than VDB, he has a realistic chance of making a good impression :)

    Dubravka

    Dalot (Suspended?)
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Malacia

    Fred
    Casemiro
    Bruno

    Anthony
    Martial
    Rashford

That record is awful  Why are all of the previous meetings away games?

Folk starting Martial, do you not realise by now if this lad plays over 30 minutes he’ll be out of action for a month? He can only be used as a sub

Bigger picture mate. Same ones now who say go for it will be same ones who criticise when we don't get top 4.

We need to make that our main goal. The cups would be nice but if we are being honest with ourselves City will probably knock us out later on anyway as they usually do.

I would say we could do with a trophy to give Ten Hag a springboard and foster that mentality in the dressing room. But we’d probably only play our first XI all the way through and lose to city in the final.

Might as well play the kids and see how far they get. We can’t play the same team in 4 competitions.

I want to win every game we play. If we were to win this the fixture congestion in 2023 will mean that we will eventually have to play the B team or large parts of it so maybe we should start now and take our lumps.

Don't care who ETH picks for this one, he can even put Ronaldo in goal and start AWB at Centre Forward but for the love of God please don't let me see Donny in the team, on the bench or in the fecking stadium. That non footballer needs to be deported instantly so we don't have to ever risk playing with effectively 10 men ever again.

I think both managers would want silverware should be a great game..
