That has been a very poor first half by us.

As the home team we should be pressuring them but we have zero idea in the attacking third.

Not one good cross, not one decent through ball, not even a single shot on target summed up by bruno feeble free kick just before the whistle.

Was hoping ETH could get us firing again but many of these players are very poor
Attacking third? We aren't even getting that far. This midfield can't get us there, they are absolutely bereft of any creativity, failing to even obvious passes especially with Villa playing such a high line yet can't spot the soaceyand runs in behind. Awf midfield.

Villa are playing with such a high line there is so much space in behind yet our bereft of creativity midfield can't spot the space or runs made, especially by Martial.

The most egregious one was that one Fred missed to spot Martial and would have been in with a simple pass yet he tried to go wide and didn't even make the pass and lost it.
To be honest , we were called offside wrongly multiple times.

At the game and I can confirm we're shit.

Midfielders that don't want the ball and can't pass at all.

Attackers that don't mind if they don't get the pass on time.

An absolute joke. Only credit for the 45 so far goes to Dalot, Malacia and Dubravka. The rest garbage so far. Hoping to see some quality subs for the 2nd half.

Ten Hag is learning the hard truth about most of our players. Hopefully he has the balls to adress the issues.

Not sure what he can do though.

More than half this team won't be there if ETH is here in 2 years.

And people want to play Fred instead of Eriksen. ETH was crucified for playing Eriksen in midfield of 2. This is what you get.

If any one of our first choice midfield two was playing we'd be ahead. McT has at least tried to pass it quick when the opportunity came; I don't think Fred has hit one progressive pass correctly. Both of them simply lack the passing range required. So we've resorted to use our width to create chances. Not ideal when we're playing with only one winger.

The only positive I can see is that with Martial up top and Bruno returning we've pressed them well. Not sure if we'll be able to keep up that intensity as time goes on. I'd bring one of Elanga/Pellistri on to play on the right and move Bruno to the middle. We can't keep shifting Bruno to the right just because of his workrate. Our attack is too poor without him central.

Heatmap of the first half. Notice the midfield. :wenger:

I'll give the 2nd half 5 minutes, if it's still not interesting, I'm starting Season 5 of The Crown and coming back for the next round draw, if we win or penalties if it's a draw.

What’s the general feeling amongst the crowd on some of these players?

We don't need our middle 4 to create chances, just pass to the attackers, It's not too much to ask for. One of the most baffling displays of midfield incompetence.
    This.

These guys can't even get the ball to our attackers. Villa playing such a high line with so much space in behind yet they can't spot the space and runs.

The amount of time I've seen good runs ignored was infuriating.

You can see the complete lack of urgency in our play when a few of our new players are sitting out. They just aren’t interested.

Heard it’s shite. Won’t tune in for the second half then

For all my defense of ETH that he doesn't have options, van de beek back on 2nd half is indefensible

Solid from the back line , esp full backs. McT has been everywhere.
Poor from VDB, Fred and Bruno.
Their bench is stronger than ours. We’ll be lucky if we can go to penalties. Well not that lucky considering our records there
