Pretty sure you're a year behind the rest of us.I know the whole “first real test” thing is getting a bit old but I think this is actually a bit of a test in someways. We’ll get to see where this side is at mentally. This is the sort of game that we’ve fecked up all to often, when the pressure’s on and we’ve the chance of moving up the table. This time with the chance to go joint top, if we can win this one then I’ll really start to think this team is taking the next step forward.

Need to be energetic from the get go, so Fred and McT are definite starters, with no Cavani rest of team picks itself.
I might consider Pogba or even VDB with Greenwood on the bench as otherwise who do we have to bring off the bench as a striker if needed (is Ighalo still around??)
Obviously Grealish is the danger but we need to takke the game to them instead of worrying too much about him.Haven’t looked forward to a United fixture this much in a long time, which inevitably means we’ll flatter to deceive and stutter towards an uninspiring draw later...

Gone for Pogba on the wing over Greenwood as the latter is essentially useless out there unless he’s cutting in & scoring. This isn’t a game for passengers. Unfair on Villa. They played better than us until we were given a very fortunate penalty. Then it was game over.
They had one shot on goal the entire match. We were pretty dominant I'd say.
Edit: and people only made a huge deal about that penalty because it was us. Daniel Podence of Wolves had one EXACTLY the same two days later and not a word was said.
It’s not just confidence. They are a lot better personnel wise. Martinez, Cash, Barkley & Watkins have all been excellent signings. Last season they were playing dross like Nyland, Davis & Sammata.Villa unbeaten in their last 5. Won 3 of those and only conceded a single goal. Will be a really tough game this, and they've had an extra day's rest.
True, forgot about Watkins. Seem him live for Brentford alongside Neal Maupay and always rated those two, sort of wish we had been in for either.Don't think I've been this worried about Villa since Dean Saunders played for them. This isn't the Villa from last season, they've added some players that have really changed the team. We have to be very careful and any one on one we have to put away probably.

The Villa side between 2008 and 2010 containing Young, Agbonlahor, Milner, Downing, Heskey and Friedel were pretty good. They gave us some hard games and beat us at OT during that time then.A game to start with Fred and Scott holding imo.
Bruno ahead of them with martial and Rashford and I’d also go with DanJames for this one, he has done much better in his last couple of games recovering some confidence, his pace along with Rashfords will give them plenty to worry about.
They're missing Mings at the back tonight though and I think they'll be too scared of us to really come at us. Hoping for a comfortable win to compound some Scouse misery.Hopefully we take our chances. Feels like we need 4/5 good chances lately to score one. I feel a lot better about us scoring with Bruno in the team so hopefully the motivation to go joint top and the creativity of a Bruno will leads to goals.

Yeah, they’re having a good season and have pulled off some superb results, but how many Villa players would get into our team (Grealish at most). If we have the right attitude there is no way we are dropping any points tonight...
