Deserved to be 1 up, had way more "almost" chances, not being clinical.

Now let's talk about McTominay, can't remember more inept midfielder ever start for us in his position, what a shocking half, the lad is so slow to cover ground, struggle being in the right position to cut off passing lanes. Can't pick 5m pass FFS! fecked up every time he had the ball. Sub him off at half time, never seen anything like that. Should be VDBs time now, Fred does defending on his own anyway.

BTW Fred has shown again why he'sprobably the most underrated midfielder in the world. Certainly a world class player. So good defensively always starts our counterattacks. superbly quick with his passing between the lines, never take an extra touch, when not needed, day and night from McT.

Happy for Pogba, best half from him for a while and some great defensive contribution too.

Bailly and Maguire look so good together it's a shame Eric will inevitable get injured, let's hope I jinxed it. Bailly looks so composed and just like a rock defensively, defending on a front foot, what a breath of fresh air from Lindelof.

Rashford needs to be benched imho, another player who seem to be overplayed which I think is also source of his inconsistency. Needs proper competition there.

Can't get over that non-VAR-call on Mings. I mean, in what version of the laws of the game is elbowing a player allowed? I mean, if a guy gets the ball and an elbow flails up, I can see that some refs would not give a foul. But off the ball, nowhere near it even, just flying into a player, elbow first, straight in the face. What possible justification can there be for not giving a foul for that? How does it not fulfill the criteria for a foul, reckless play and endangering the opponent? What more should Mings have done to give away a foul there? Pull his pants down and start pissing on the bleeding area?
Bonkers isn’t it? A tiny little trip or pull in the box is a penalty but fly into your opponent and elbow them straight in the face off the ball and it’s fine?! I wouldn’t be surprised if he did that on purpose too being mings

Scott needs to pull his finger out. Very sloppy on the ball and giving silly fouls away.

A shame Ole doesn’t seem to trust Donny there instead - if he’s worried about the defensive shape, could just switch to a 3 with Fred sitting and him & Bruno ahead.

Very solid performance all the way around so far. A little bit sharper passing in/near the box and we walk away with this one.

What game is Neville and sky watching. Is he doing that anti United thing to make seem like he isn’t bias shtick again. Villa had the better half? No chance.

Have said it so often on here. Nothing he says can be taken seriously anymore.

It still never ceases to amaze me the amount of people that want Martial sold every time he does through a poor patch.

If we start sitting back too much I'll weep. We need to finish them off.

Aye, if we keep playing how we're playing we should draw the second half at the very least. Take our chances and put the game beyond them.

It’s more about their quality on the ball than us ‘letting them’

Grealish is doing his usual, playing at his own pace. Marshall that and we’ll get more space up front

I'd say RAWK are lapping it up. They all think we've been outplayed.

Grealish is so comfortable and confident on the ball. So important to Villa.

I very rarely see posters wanting him to be sold. Its usually people that don't think he should be our primary #9. Which is absolutely fair enough in my opinion.

Nick a goal on the counter

Ha ha im with you there, the moaning as always was ridiculous but for the record, I’m not one of the moaners:)
I like how we’re happy now, but watch us lose 2-1 now and all be at each other’s throats.

Decent by us so far, though I would have been frustrated had we not come in at half time at least a goal up. Playing pretty well so far. No major complaints. Just need to keep it up for the second half.

Nice goal by Martial. Wasn't really expecting him to put his head in there for the goal but I'm obviously glad that he did! Very nice header. I was also pleased to see Wan Bissaka show us that he can offer something going forward as that's obviously one of the criticisms of him. He had a lot of space but he pushed forward well and put in a decent ball.

    Good summary

I've definitely seen more than a few posts wating him sold.

I can't believe they didn't even mention the Pogba penalty incident at all. I mean, if Pogba had a fly land on him it would be breaking news on Sky, missed opportunity for heaps of clicks

Pogba is playing more Juventus role

LCM with 2 players that can provide him some protection when needed even if it is in a diamond with Fred & Mctomminay- he looks much more settled.

Though I think he is genuinely trying harder because there is a good aura around the club and everyone is enjoying the football trying to be competitive.

Wow the hate for McT on this forum is gross.

The whole team has been good so far. He's helped break up their play ALOT.

loved watching this half....more of the same please....the only one I could really say something against has been McTominay...Rash & Bruno haven't been as stellar as usual, but Pogba has been magnificent....just need a 2 goal lead and see this one off...

The commentator tried to say we went ahead in bizarre circumstances when it first went in. It makes you wonder how often they semi switch off and their eyes glaze over. It was an impeccable, incisive team goal. Absolute joy to behold.

Villa have been so good though. Playing very very good football. Hopefully we can hit them on the counter.
