Think I'd be tempted to swap Young for Di Maria at the break, and then Rafael for Valencia around the hour mark.

Not sure Rafael will be ready for 45 mins after so long without a match.
Young's been decent, certainly no need to swap him at half time. Would possibly make that change later on though. Valencia also combining well with Mata and Herrera.

    Leave it alone for now.

Rooney needs to calm down a little. He's been simmering every since that penalty shout and looks in danger of a red card here.

I cannot fathom what I'm seeing. He's been superb.
He's seen a lot of the ball and made some very good runs but his crossing has been awful and he passed straight to Villa players numerous times in that half. He's been very miss and hit for me.

Good half I think. Villa are properly parking the bus with everything they have. We looked decent and created sole chances. Great goal by Ander.

The problem with Young and Valencia is their distribution in and around the penalty area. They do a lot of hit and hope crosses. Most of the time I feel that Young would be better off cutting in and taking the shot on himself.

That said, both have played well today.

It's a ridiculous suggestion. Rooney is struggling to get really involved as there's so little space to work in with Villa's tactics, that's exactly the sort of situation Falcao would struggle even more to make an impact.
    Some sense at last

Terrible half by the referee. Rooney may have embellished it but he was definitely grabbed and it should've been a sending off. The game got sloppy after that but thankfully we buckled down and have shown some good work with the ball.

Rooney needs to get his shit together. Yes, Wayne, you should've gotten a penalty, but that's football. Don't let your play go to shit because of a bad official.

Young has shown some good movement up front but his balls in have been wasteful. He did get the secondary assist on the goal but it's kind of funny that Blind actually set Herrera up.

Fellaini doesn't look right. I don't know if it's from traveling over the break or what but he looks strangely weak in 1 v. 1. Carrick has done a good job but he is looking increasingly slow to loose balls, which might owe to his increasing age.

Jones and Rojo, please do not feck up.

No reason to sub anyone. No one has been poor. Many have been meh but as a team they've kept it cool, simple and there have been no worries. Rooney will calm down a bit now. Not getting that penalty had him distracted for a while.

We need to get hold of a top CF in the Summer if we want to win the league. Rooney is still good but won't get over 20 goals a season. Our issue this year has been shitting on the little teams, not the big games.
Rooney can comfortably get 20 goals a season if played up front all year. He's been quiet but are people actually suggesting taking him off? Some people really do take him for granted, he's always important to the team.

Valencia has been good this season. Rafael is/will be better than him in all aspects if brought on.
Only a Valencia hater would think that. It doesn't matter how well he plays in any game, the haters always want him dropped.

Not particularly saying it for that reason. Just think Di Maria could offer more.

No matter how bad a game he's having at home, I'd never take a player of his calibre off for a guy who's best days were 3 years ago. If we had better options, then yes, but simply bring Falcao on would be crazy

Why are you talking about Falcao? I never mentioned taking Rooney off. You're not even watching the game though

Solid really. Don't get the criticism from some, we bossed that half. Rooney and Fellaini have been quiet but no need to take them off yet while we are up.

Not a great performance by any means but for from 'shit' as some were saying.

Rooney looks like he's been boiling over since the penalty wasn't given, hopefully a breather and a word from the manager will calm him down.

Young has been hit/miss, some infuriating final balls but some cracking runs.

Valencia also has been aimless with his crosses, I really don't get why Rafael can't get a game, he'd offer more at both ends.

    Herrera is just great.
Agree with most points. Lots of last minute tackles by Villa, Fellani and Rooney slightly off the pace. Otherwise, still think a fairly good performance, and far from shit.

Don't understand the criticism of Young, some bad execution, but he has done pretty well overall.

    Substitution for Aston Villa

Bacuna for Hutton who clearly wasn't 100% towards the end of the first-half.

Just the bog standard overreaction to everything on here, nothing to worry about.
