Decent half, a few bits of really good football. A let down after the last 2 games though and the game felt very much like a 'do just enough to win the game' kind of game that we had so much in Fergie's last 2 or 3 years.

Also not limited to this match but we really don't get the number of players in the box that we used to under Fergie.

Some incredibly frustrating stuff in that half, particularly Young's repetitive crossing when he'd put Villa on their arse after a great run. Hopefully they'll be more clinical in the second.

Ref bottled it after 5 minutes. Pen an a red couldn't be more blatant.

Overall, a pretty good first half against the Villa bus. Not many chances created, but enough to get us the three points. Any less, and that cnut of a ref needs the sack.

Decent half. Controlled it, but they were stubborn. A lot of bodies in the way, but a deserved lead. Should have had a penalty as well.

They still look a threat on the counter, and they've not tested us from a set piece yet. We need a couple more.

Quite a good peformance. Struggled at times to get through but that happens against a well organised team.

I like that we're starting to see players developing an understanding on either side. Young Fellaini and blind on the left, and herrera, mata and valencia on the right.

Rooney, Mata and Fellaini have struggled to get into the game but I wouldn't say they have played badly. Apart from that everything looks pretty good. Still feel we miss Smallings power and driving out from the back. Herrera and Young have been great.

Ashley Young hasn't had a good half by his standards and that's saying something because feck me he seems a completely different player. Making runs, attempting ambitious passes, crossing, dribbling. He's been a complete revelation under LvG.

Yeah i think so. This game is actually a very good performance compared to most of the season so far, its just a bit of a let down after the last 2 games.

Goal was just a matter of time when it would come, always tough to break down 2 banks of 4 lying back like that. We should have had a stonewall pen in the first few minutes and it would've been a red for them, no idea how the ref missed that. Clear cut. Misssed a few chances but this goal should help bring them out of their shells more and hopefully we can improve our goal difference a bit here

Would love to see Rooney come off for Falcao for the second half.

Would be really interesting to see how Falcao performs with us playing like this and attacking. When he started our midfield weren't playing like this, and now we only sub him when we're playing keep away and not looking to score.

Dominated that, more of the same please just a bit less wasteful. You can see the threat Fellaini offers, for the first goal when he ran into the box he immediately attracted 2 defenders which made space for Herrera.

Mata has been class IMO, just Fellaini and Rooney not being involved too much. Everyone else doing well.

Thank you Ander! We were passing the ball around really well but there was a lack of quality incision and moves were fizzling out, Rooney has had a particularly poor half.

Our left side as been the key and while Young has driven at them well he's snatched at it a bit on the final moment, Blind's calmer approach has been the key to finally opening them up. Hopefully we can settle more now and dust them off in the 2nd half.
