Home game against the whipping boys.
I think if we play these guys with 9 men, we should still win.
    3-1.

There's not been many times this season that I've been able to say it but I'm confident. I can easily see us getting at least 3, nay 4, shots away.

Hoping we demolish them but i would not be surprised one bit if we make it hard for ourselves and make them look like an in form team.

    I'd like to see:

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Blind Fosu-Mensah
    Schneiderlin
    Herrera Fellaini
    Rooney
    Rashford Martial

But I don't think Lingard will be dropped, unless LvG thinks we can rest a few here and play the likes of Memphis and Young.

    I would like to see:
    --------------DDG
    Darmian-Smalling-Blind-CBJ
    -----Herrera-Schneiderlin----
    Young-------Mata--------Memphis
    ------------Rooney------------
Some players need a rest, specifically Martial who's looked knackered recently.

    1-1

it's time for LVG to shatter our positivity from the FA cup win!
Of course. Like so many times before; our tactics and play were seemingly good against West Ham. So now, this match, everything will be absolutely terrible. Has happened so many times this season, I've lost count. It is a type of consistency, though, I'll give LvG that.

I think that's about right. Rashford off the bench for either Rooney or Mata (depending on how Rooney's looking) could have a nice impact. I think I'd start Fosu-Mensah at RB though.

It will be 0-0 at half time and we will end up winning 2-0.

I would love us to beat them 4-0. How many teams have failed to score 4 goals in a single league game this season?

I feel that he could do with rest too, 3 matches in a week might be too much for an 18 year old who's not used to it.

Quite possibly the weakest side we have ever met in the P.L - 8 straight defeats - goal difference 3 - 24 in the last 8 matches.

I remember Derby - but I actually think this Villa side is weaker right now

Villa usually play well against us so I don't think it will be as easy as some think

Villa don't usually concede 24 goals in 8 matches leading up to playing us. Nor do they usually lose 8 matches in a row doing it.

Fair point. I think he's probably fine to play, but makes more sense to save him. Valencia can play RB.

I'm very much in a "anybody but Darmian" mood. (Within reason, I'm not advocating Romero play RB).

remember all those months ago when we won 2 in a row and Villa were the second team we demolished 1-0?

If there's ever a fixture that we should be able to rest a couple of players and not affect the result then this must be it?!
Maybe give Valencia a start at RB, Morgan for Carrick, maybe Depay for Martial and Rooney for Rashford for an hour?

That should be good enough shouldn't it? It's not as if we have mugs coming in-those are proven quality players that should be able to put a relegated team to the sword

If we don't win convincingly then we don't deserve top 4.

    PRESS CONFERENCE ENDS
The manager closed his pre-match press conference at the Aon Training Complex by providing a further update on Ander Herrera - having already spoken to MUTV about the Spanish midfielder. He said: "At this moment, I don't know, as the diagnosis is still yet to come. It is better to do that after two days, so I haven't heard about him yet. It is not so heavy we think, but we have to wait and see."

Don't know if this is going to affect team selections.

We should use this opportunity to give those in need of match sharpness a game and bench anyone in need of a rest.

I'd like to see this in defence:

    de Gea
    Darmian Smalling Fosu-Mensah CBJ
I'm not fussed about who plays in attack really, we should put them to the sword regardless. It might be a good time to bring Rooney back, though.

We're going to make this difficult for ourselves aren't we?

If we can't twat Villa away, and by an acceptable scoreline, then I will literally give up.

0-0 or losing 1-0 HT and fumble to a 2-1 defeat after Villa decide what the hell we've got nothing to lose so properly go for it.

"I think the fans were waving and cheering Louis Van Gaal I think" before going on to blame injuries and declare he's signed a contract extension.

jaysus if we get beaten by Villa the meltdown will be immense. Under such circumstances LVG had better sneak out of the ground under cover of darkness!

Who am I kidding, we'll clap them off the pitch

if we don't score 3 against this lot we should just give up football

"Aston Villa had 3 more days to prepare, it's not so easy to win in the Premier League. I'm very happy with the unbelievable spirit that my players showed to equalize so late in the game. Now the fans shall go home happy and we have already seen it by the way they chanted "LVG's red and white army"."

I do wonder, before Villa travel out to an away game (with their horrendous form), what does the manager say to his players?
How does he inspire a team who lose almost every game?
Is it even possible to inspire a bunch of players who have such little confidence?
Are there any football coaches who can shed light on this?
