What a half :D Everyone knew we are bad but this was a whole new level :D Villa are already relegated and have nothing to play for. We are still going for TOP 4 but this half was just incredibly awful :D The goal we scored was their goalkeeper's mistake, he should have saved that. Apart from that, we didn't create anything at all

Memphis needs a LB who can attack to help him out. Rojo offers absolutely nothing going forwards. Our whole left side is blunted because Memphis is then expected to beat two defenders at the least.

Once we get Shaw back bombing down the left, we will be much more effective.

Not been a bad first half but we are only against Villa.
Glad to see Rashford carry on scoring!
Mata has been poor again but what can you do.
I was impressed by Rooney but against a half decent side he'd just get pressed out of the game most likely.

Mate, it doesn't matter what formation you play against Villa.
They are so bad, we'd probably dominate and win with 9 men.
I can't understand how a team of highly paid professional footballers can be so bad.

Dont disagree with you there and people can slam LvG all they want for today but players should beat these blindfolded no matter what your coach/manager told you.

Mata atrocious. Rooney and Rashford have done well.

We have so many average players. Rojo, Memphis and Mata just don't do it for me. Not sure what Fellainis role is. Happy enough with Rooney. Rashford hasn't been great but he took the chance when it came so fair play to the lad.

Drab first half, a few decent passes from Blind and Rooney and some good work and a goal from Rashford, but the rest look like they are playing at half pace.

Rashford, Rooney, and a couple of nice plays from Valencia the bright spots of the half. Schneiderlin and Fellaini have done some good mop-up work.

Please, take off Mata and put on Lingard, give us some pace on the right. Except for an occasional moment of technical nous, he is worthless. Even passes up shots at close range, FFS. Memphis has been poor, but it's largely because our front line is so slow in getting forward that he's always starting from a deep position. Mata is one of the main culprits in that. Pace, I say, pace!

So this game will be Villa's 9th loss in a row.
    That's some achievement.
Worse than Newcastle's record under Carver where they lost 8 in a row near the end of the season (drew, lost then won the final 3 though).

Well we are winning but just shy of a turd fest, some good play but villa are going through the motions so we should be punishing them better. Hopefully see more goals next half.

We really need a winger that is going to take someone on. None of them have done that this half.
there's a bloke in Spain I've heard about. Think his name is ronaldo...

Poor first half. Obviously we've been in control, but we haven't been created anything. I thought we were destined for another 0-0 at HT, but thankfully was wrong. Delighted to see Rashford continue his hot streak. Their keeper has to be doing better there though, it's a fairly weak shot in all honesty. I'll take it though. Please put this lot to the sword in the second half.

Come on guys, go easy on our players.
We are leading 1-0 at half time, which in itself is an achievement for us.
The target today is 3 points and as long as we get that, we need to accept this as a job well done.

I guess I'm in the minority for having been entertained by this game so far

Not surprising to be honest, it's been the story of our season. Mata and Depay's shitness doesn't help, though.

Decent first half, if a tad dull. At least we managed to get the goal.

I suspect LVG will have a hard on about us creating one chance and scoring from it.

Rashford must be pretty close to being our top scorer despite not having played until Mid-February??
Kinda. He's in the top five (all comps):

    1. Wayne Rooney - 14
    2. Anthony Martial - 13
    3. Juan Mata - 8
    4. Memphis Depay - 7
    = Marcus Rashford - 7
    6. Ander Herrera - 5
    = Jesse Lingard - 5
    8. Own Goal - 4
    9. Marouane Fellaini - 3
    10. Daley Blind - 2
    = Chris Smalling - 2
    12. Adnan Januzaj - 1
    = Andreas Pereira - 1
    = Morgan Schneiderlin - 1
    = Bastian Schweinsteiger - 1

I agree. I'd even rather have Young at LB right now, who would overlap and run up and down. Rojo's rarely interested in stepping in to the final third.

Not to give Memphis a free ride. He's been poor, but he definitely needs someone to support him and run behind him to give us a chance of getting the best out of him.

Villa are one of the poorest Prem sides to come here in years. We're in control and winning but still, 2 shots on target really doesn't display the dominance that we should have over them..

I think it'll end up prob 3-0 but we need the confidence of a good win where we dominate til the end, not sitting back terrified of the ball and relying on DDG.
