Why’s it that shocking that a new signing doesn’t just walk into the XI when the teams playing well

The pessimist in me fears that McT will revert to headless chicken mode, get a yellow within 15 minutes and therefore walk on eggshells the rest of the game.

Not surprised that Casemiro is on the bench, i posted a couple of hours ago that i believe that ETH will go with either Casemiro/Fred or McTominey/Eriksen, more surprising is that he throws in Antony after 2 training sessions. That if anything is real statement, he could have gone with Sancho and Rashford as wingers and play Roanldo as the number 9 or just keep Elanga in the starting eleven and go with the same eleven again.

Ronaldo can't be that far behind in training that Antony that didn't train for like a week and has played 2 games this season is in that much better shape that he gets a chance from start after signing 4 days ago. That makes me very excited about Antony - ETH is really putting a lot of weight on his shoulders from day one. Hope is works out well.

Other then that, back four looks great and giving them more time together will only make them stronger and better.

McTominey shouldn't be nowhere near to take Casemiros place in the team, but if Casemiro is not 100% fit then playing McTominey, who has done a good job last 3 games, makes sense. Casemiro will probably get at least 30min. Probably throw in both him and Fred and replace McTominey and Eriksen. Ronaldo for Rashford and Elanga for Antony with 20 left.

LETS GO UNITED! 3-0 - Antony to score one at least.

Make my day United and Redcafé - Need one more like to become a full member :)

3-0 is very ambitious. Fair play

    Ten Hag said as much!

That's totally fair and I have to agree with ETH there. We shouldn't just throw in Casemiro because he's a 'name'. If Scott has done enough to justify his selection in the manager's eyes, that's good enough for me. Seems like we're getting to a position where the manager is picking players based on performances and what they're bringing to the team, which is exactly how it should be.

Please tell me this ^ is a Christmas Vacation reference

Sorry, no. I just love me some JD :p

    Great movie all the same.

    "Eddie?"

    "Eddie?"

    "Eddie?!"

I hope Antony does well. Surprised he's starting.

Not too confident here. Need all the lads to play their hearts out today to get a result.

On the lineup itself. If you ignore that our DM's name is Casemiro for a second, all other factors kept constant, there's no way we won't all want them to be starting. And I don't see why we need to drop McTominay when we could easily play him and Casemiro in the middle.

Eriksen hasn't convinced me yet physically, and I have seen our midfield bypassed in a few games already this season so apologies if a midfield of McT and him don't fill some of us with some confidence.

Our opponent are a team in form, any sort of confidence they get playing through our midfield and they can put us to the sword, the least we could have done was to shore up the middle, keep our one true DM on the pitch and surround him with extra legs (in McT or Fred), then make a decision on Bruno or Eriksen - preferably the former - as the attacking midfielder.

    Don’t think it’s odd.

Easier to play a forward than throw in someone who doesn’t yet fully know the system in the midfield battle.

I mentioned it before. Look what Conte did at Spurs (and was heavily praised actually). None of his new players played for the first few games. Also helps protect the player himself.

I don't think Casimero needs protection.

How can anyone be surprised by Ronaldo being on the bench?
Rashford is fecking gash as a CF. Ronaldo looked far more threatening in the cameo he had against Leicester than Rashford in 3 whole games now.

Bit odd Antony starts instantly and not Casemeiro when the main reason was getting used to the league and players

Without Casemiro I think we're going to struggle to have any midfield control. We've struggled to control the middle of the park against poor teams like Leicester and Southampton. He should be starting this. I wonder if he was truly an ETH signing given his lack of a start, yet Antony walks into the team.

how does rashford and mct keep getting minutes

We are essentially already down to 9 men with them 2 frauds playing.

    Absolute drivel.

McTominay has been playing well and doesn't deserve dropping and whilst Rashford isn't playing great he stretches defenses purely based on his pace... Make him run into channels, he doens't need to play well to do that.
