I feel we may well need three to win this (certainly two) and not sure where those goals are going to come from...

Not surprised that Casemiro is on the bench, i posted a couple of hours ago that i believe that ETH will go with either Casemiro/Fred or McTominey/Eriksen, more surprising is that he throws in Antony after 2 training sessions. That if anything is real statement, he could have gone with Sancho and Rashford as wingers and play Roanldo as the number 9 or just keep Elanga in the starting eleven and go with the same eleven again.

Ronaldo can't be that far behind in training that Antony that didn't train for like a week and has played 2 games this season is in that much better shape that he gets a chance from start after signing 4 days ago. That makes me very excited about Antony - ETH is really putting a lot of weight on his shoulders from day one. Hope is works out well.

Other then that, back four looks great and giving them more time together will only make them stronger and better.

McTominey shouldn't be nowhere near to take Casemiros place in the team, but if Casemiro is not 100% fit then playing McTominey, who has done a good job last 3 games, makes sense. Casemiro will probably get at least 30min. Probably throw in both him and Fred and replace McTominey and Eriksen. Ronaldo for Rashford and Elanga for Antony with 20 left.

LETS GO UNITED! 3-0 - Antony to score one at least.

Make my day United and Redcafé - Need one more like to become a full member :)

Casemiro not starting is mind boggling. He's match fit and even played in the Super Cup where he was named man of the match. Fecking Hell.

I don't think Antony even had a proper pre season and he's walked right in.

Have you even read the reasons why? Jesus.

Yes. I’ll never understand folks getting so worked up over a manager picking a team he train every day.
I think line-up predictions are even funnier. It's like fantasy football - I can't be arsed wasting my time

Can everyone stop crying about Casemiro already…

Antony knows Ten Hag’s system and Elanga hasn’t been playing great.

Casemiro isn’t used to Ten Hag’s system yet and on top of that Mctominay is playing really well.

We have Varane and Martinez at the back now. Arsenal ain't cutting through us as much as their fans believe they will.

I think we’ll smash them, don’t think they were expecting Antony to start and neither were we but he could be key here on his debut!

I’ll wait and see before asking about Casemiro. Could be that he’s just rewarding good performances.

I don't know why some people are acting like it is ridiculous to question why Casemiro isn't starting. The fitness excuse is odd as Casemiro has played more games than Antony.

Some are pointing out we have played well so no need to change, but we have hardly been scintillating. Casemiro is still a massive improvement over the midfield. Even if we have played alright on the defensive defensive side, there is much room for improvement in every other manner, and that is through improving the quality of the players in the first team.

We hardly took it to Leicester, who have just been smashed by Brighton, and were pinned in our half for a long period by Southampton.

Casemiro doesn’t make a team play scintillating…he forms a strong solid base and protects the back line..we haven’t been conceding many lately. McTom has a good engine and good form. He’ll be knackered like everyone else around the 60 min mark. Then you’ll see Casemiro…

What Casemiro did in the CL many years ago is irrelevant. ETH is obliged to pick the lineup he thinks will work the best for this game. If he thinks McT is in better form then it would be the correct call.

Whether it's the correct call or not remains to be seen. That's exactly what Mourinho, Solskjaer and Rangnick did. They picked players that they "thought" was the best for them, and it didn't exactly pay off. Casemiro has been really good when he's played, and weird quotes like "he needs time to get used to the team". What does that even mean? He is a defensive monster with great positioning and great passing forward to initiate attacks.

Bruno is not going to be dropped because contrary to popular belief, he is still our most influential player.

And if you’re playing counter attack football a player with huge turnover stats isn’t prob as bad as it seems

What sort of shitshow is this pundit choice for the game? Hasstlebaink and Merson?!

I’m no fan of McTominay but his playing well (and he certainly has been playing well) can only be a good thing. Meritocracy has been much-needed at United.
I agree, like many others I was sick of the McFred duo last season, but McT has risen to the challenge (so far) and I'm happy to see it.
I expect Casemiro to make the spot his but competition for places is a good place - we've missed that.

According to some, Jack Daniels is the best cure for nerves on the market.
Please tell me this ^ is a Christmas Vacation reference

Case looked a little confused at first in the last game when he subbed in late. He settled in quickly and did some good things but it was a mixed bag. I don't want him out there not at his best because he was put in before he's ready. The guy is a key piece for us, get his head right and integrated and he'll be a regular fixture.

Pumped that Antony is starting, but how the ferk is Casemiro on the bench for this? Mental.

Ten Hag already explained why he's not starting and that's because he hasn't learned the system yet and mctominay has been in good form. Nothing mental about it
