Because Arsenal are in a worse state than us and if we lose this game... all hell will break lose?

    Exactly this

Like I said I'd rather we were playing Liverpool, we know they're better than us, playing and loosing to Arsenal though urgh

Could be the perfect time to play three at the back, with Young and Williams wingbacks, McTominay, Pogba (Pereira if not fit) and Fred midfield, and James and Greenwood up front. Not the best of teams, but making the best of what we have. Matic and Mata slow the game down too much for me, we need to play at pace.

Imagine the state of the caf if we lose this one tonight...

Huge pressure on Ole and the team after the last 3 performances (can we even call this performances)

Yep, this is probably the worst game to lose tbh. Anyone can lose to Palace at home, those results can happen but when a rival comes to town, the players need to step up.

We have hardly seen this from a United team in years, this is a very big game in our season.

Also, what is everyone's thinking on Greenwood?

I would want to see him start, he deserves it.

If half fit Rashford starts, what does this tell us about the trust Ole has in the youngsters really? It is all well and good playing them in the EL and League cup, many teams do it but to do it in Prem game?

Greenwood needs to start as Rashford is just not the same player when 50% fit. He loses the pace which is his main asset.
If AWB is out that is huge.
Arsenal always have a mistake in them, but I very much doubt you'll see a performance similar to how they played against Watford tonight.
I would not put Mata anywhere near this game, we need to exploit Xhaka's immobility and putting an equally immobile Mata up against him is a waste.

I have put Mata in my predictions though as I'm sure Ole will play him.

Wan-Bissaka out or just not seen yet?

At the moment, it's looking a bit like this:

    de Gea
    Young Lindelof Maguire Rojo
    McTominay Matic Pogba
    Lingard Rashford James
    ---
Romero; Tuanzebe; Andreas, Fred, Mata, Chong; Greenwood

The AWB news is a blow if true, not sure if it'll be Axel or Lindelof filling in, or if Young will play RB and Rojo LB, I doubt Brandon Williams will get a chance at LB.

If Rashford is in the squad I hope he's on the bench or if he starts Greenwood at least gets the RWF role.

We are expected to lose it, surely. Chances are that Arsenal will tear us a new one!

I'm looking at this for the positives, if we want to see players who can handle the pressure cooker at United - this is a great stage to show it on. We're not favourites, which is rare against Arsenal and I fully expect to see some kind of reaction from everyone. We can lose and still come out of this with credibility, I just want to feel like I believe in what Ole's trying to do and see some, even it's a small amount, evidence of it on the pitch.

In what way are Arsenal in a worse state than us?

Let me ask you the following:

When did they last win the league?
When did they last qualify for Champions League?

Then I will say the following:

    They have a crap defence
The DoF prioritises attack over Mid and Def
Fans not happy with the owners lack of spending

Just like us, 10 years ago they were a massive club.. look a them now, barely compete. We are getting to that stage too though.

FotMob predicts Lingard as a false 9. Behind Pereira, Mata and James. I think i'm going to bet on Arse, things are looking extremely underwhelming.

    Gone for

    Rashford

    James Lingard Pereira

    Pogba Mctominay

    Williams Maguire Lindelof Young

    De Gea

I think he’s crazy if he doesn’t start Greenwood.

They’ll be an uproar if we don’t win with Lingard playing upfront.

To beat Solskjaer's United, all you need to do is score two goals. Arsenal aren't any good, but with their frontline, they should unfortunately manage that.

Wait Wan Bissaka is out?? FFS

Hearing no Pogba or Rashford seen at Lowry either?
Pogba and rashford were there. AWB not seen hence why all the noise. We don’t know if he will play or not yet.

Bloody hope it’s just a case of AWB arriving at a different time than the rest of the squad...

This very rarely happens, except when the player lives there!
    We're fooked!

No chance we do that instead of starting Greenwood.

if you don't start him with the other 2 strikers out, it just makes all the talk of him being so good, so good that we didn't bother buying a proper striker look like absolute nonsense.

This again begs the question.. why start him in the first place Vs Rochdale when it is a position we struggle with?

Has he got a place yet?

    Let's hope not!

Surely someone counted the players? If there's 19-20 without him, we're screwed.

It'll be really weird if Pogba and Rashford play, when both looked guaranteed absences, and he's out

Why play Pogba for 90mins against them.
    Because we'd idiots.

I would like to see something like this with no AWB:

    James - Lingard - Greenwood

    Pogba

    Matic - McTominay

    Rojo - Maguire - Lindelof - Young

    De Gea
Rashford on the bench if needed. If no Pogba, Mata instead.
Still got attacking intent along with being relatively defensively secure.

If Wan Bissaka is injured surely we need to start looking at training routines, this is becoming ridiculous. Was hopeful we would never see Young playing for us this season and he is playing as much as ever with Shaw and now maybe Wan Bissaka out.

If Maguire starts getting niggles, we'll know without any doubt it's what we're doing.

    Confirmed United squad members

David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Lee Grant, Victor Lindelof, Axel Tuanzebe, Harry Maguire, Marcos Rojo, Brandon Williams, Ashley Young, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic, Andreas Pereria, Fred, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Daniel James, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood.

That's 19... so still room for more.

Do people actually go into our games with expectations anymore? I find the more I’m honest with myself that the club is a s*** show the less defeats affect me.

I refuse to get upset about this team to the point where it impacts my everyday life anymore. I’ll come on here & have a pop but I can’t get upset at a team with Mata & Andreas playing as poor results/performances should be expected.

Multiple posters derided me when I uttered with certainty that Young would play in the majority of games for us this season.

Never has something been more inevitable.

Such a weird match this. Both sets of fans are not optimistic.

We usually win when our fans are not optimistic. Maybe me being optimistic about our fans being not optimistic, this will curse being optimistic about being not optimistic. I’m confusing myself now.....
