Manchester City Football Club (nicknamed City, The Citizens, and The Sky Blues), are a professional football club based in Manchester, England. City were founded in 1880 as St. Mark's (West Gorton), before being renamed as Ardwick Association Football Club in 1887, and finally Manchester City in 1894 - and the origins can be traced back to members of St. Mark's Church of England, West Gorton — who founded the football club that would become known as Manchester City, for largely humanitarian purposes. Two church wardens sought to curb local gang violence and alcoholism by instituting new activities for local men, whilst high unemployment plagued East Manchester, specifically Gorton. All men were welcome to join, regardless of religion.

The team's first recorded match occurred on 13 November 1880, and City gained their first honors by winning the Second Division in 1899 — with it came promotion to the highest level in English football, the First Division. In the seasons following the FA Cup triumph of 1904, the club was dogged by allegations of financial irregularities, culminating in the suspension of seventeen players in 1904, including captain Billy Meredith, who subsequently moved across town to Manchester United. Almost half a century later later, a City team inspired by a tactical system known as the Revie Plan reached consecutive FA Cup finals again, in 1955 and 1956; just as in the 1930s, they lost the first one, to Newcastle United, and won the second. The club continued to challenge for honors throughout the 1970s, finishing one point behind the league champions on two occasions and reaching the final of the 1974 League Cup.

Prior to the takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, the club had enjoyed moderate levels of success through their history — however, since the start of the current decade, City have been buoyed by the signings of Sergio Agüero, Yaya Touré, David Silva, Vincent Kompany — and have emerged as perpetual title contenders Vincent Kompany winning the league 6 times in 10 years and repeatedly finishing in the Top 3. City play their homes games at the Etihad Stadium, and their biggest rivals are neighbors and opponents for the game, Manchester United.

    I’d play:

    Onana

    AWB - Varane/Evans - Martínez - Dalot

    Casemiro - Mainoo

    Amad - - - - - Bruno - - - - Garnacho

    Højlund

The problem with that is the bottom of the midfield. Casemiro leaves his position a lot and we lack pace in the middle of the park. But Amrabat was very poor with the ball today.

I’m afraid it will be Casemiro in defense, Amrabat in DM and McTominay instead of Højlund.

We're winning this one. The game raisers will turn up one final time.

If we want to try to make it difficult for them, maybe we should go with three at the back and pack the midfield. EtH won’t do it, but something like this could keep it tight for a an hour.

    Onana

    Varane - Evans - Martínez

    AWB - Casemiro - Mainoo - Dalot

    Amad - - Bruno

    Højlund

    We derailed Klopp's farewell tour.

We ruined De Zerbi's leaving party.

Can we make it a hat-trick here?

    Onana

    AWB
    Whoever is fit
    Martinez
    Dalot

    Casemiro
    Mainoo
    Mctominay

    Garnacho
    Bruno
    Hojlund

Bruno false nine. We need to be brave and commit mainoo and mctominay forward when we can, and we need immense work rate and discipline. I have very little faith we will beat 115 FC but it would be good for football if we did

I have a feeling Garnacho won't be starting this. I think it'll be Rashford in place of him.

Varane and Martinez are actually decent together if match fit. If Casemiro and Rashford turn up then we can make a game of it. But no way can we play our normal space invaders formation or we get panned.

    Onana
    Wan Bissaka Varane Martinez Dalot
    Casemiro Mainoo
    Garnacho Mctominay Bruno Rashford

I'd probably do this. Though Hojlund hasn't done his case any harm, realistically we need those extra legs in midfield.

I think our front three will be Rashford-Hojlund-Garnacho.

I have a feeling we’ll see Bruno wide here.

If we play just Højlund and sit deep we’ll struggle to get the ball forward. I think we’ll get McTominay up next to him, and try to get him on Rodri when City have the ball. Disrupting Rodri is the key to beating City.

    Onana
    AWB - Casemiro - Martinez - Dalot
    Bruno - Amrabat - Mainoo - Garnacho
    McTominay - Hojlund

I have a feeling Garnacho won't be starting this. I think it'll be Rashford in place of him.
    Rashford will be left
    Garnacho right
Garnacho has started the last 30 odd games he won’t be just dropped for the final for Antony or Amad

    This is what I’m expecting

    Onana
    AWB
    Varane
    Martinez
    Dalot
    Casemiro
    Mainoo
    McTominay
    Garnacho
    Rashford
    Bruno

I have a feeling Garnacho won't be starting this. I think it'll be Rashford in place of him.

I actually have no problem with that. I feel Garnacho right now is best suited as a sub having a go at fullbacks around the 70 minute mark.

The problem I have is our midfield. We did well in our last two games where we packed the midfield. Casemiro in midfield feels like a liability these days. If he plays in midfield against City then we are in trouble. I would rather see Amrabat in midfield, but Amrabat's performance today was in my opinion really poor.

    My team will be:

    Onana
    Dalot Varane Martinez Wan-Bissaka
    Amad Casemiro Mainoo Rashford
    Fernandes
    Hojlund

Hopefully Casemiro raises his game and plays a great game, because I think Amrabat for this one is not up to the task I fear.

I was contemplating putting in McTominay instead of Hojlund, but McTominay after coming back from his injury isn't very effective in front of goal, whereas Hojlund deserves a start, even though I prefer Hojlund to be subbed on when their defenders are tired.

Rashford has the reputation on his side, but Amad based on merit should get the start up front. If Amad shits his pants Rashford can come on in the second half.

    Varane and Martinez at CB
Amad and Alejandro at the wings
The rest of the XI is set in stone

At least there’s a bit of form going in and some players back. This was a guaranteed 5-0 a couple of weeks ago. Maybe 5-1 now.

If our players were offered an opportunity to skip the final but concede a 2-0 loss, they’d take it. That’s how low in confidence this team is at the moment.
Hopefully, ETH’s last game for us.

We've got to keep the faith.

The odds are massively against us but we've pulled off bigger upsets in the last few years.

ETH needs to tell these players, irrelevent of whether they like him or not, whether he stays or goes this summer, they need to give 110% and fight for everything next Saturday.

For a lot of them its the last time they'll wear the shirt, why not sign off with a major trophy.

When have you seen Amad sh1t his pants? He's cool as a cucumber

    Anyone but Bissaka

Insane how big this game is, win this and it changes the whole season to a disappointment but not a disaster imo.

I don't think it can save this season. It's been a lot worse than the 60 points suggests.

It would simply give it a nice ending. A bonus.

Think it's a bigger game for Eth than the club.

Journalist continually assimilating that INEOS will make a decision on proceedings after the final, in some ways it's a game that determines Erik's employment.

Would be one of our great cup wins if we do this. Equal with Liverpool in 77.

United winning will be a bigger shock than Wigan over City in 2013.

Perhaps I love the FA Cup more than the average fan nowadays, but this would genuinely become my favourite season post-Fergie if we somehow pull off a win here. Lose and it's my third least favourite season (behind Moyes and Rangnick).

Win here changes nothing about how shit this season is. Can be a nice parting gift for EtH. The amount of people who just overreact to any decent showing cracks me up. If ineos is like them we will see amrabat and mctominay rocking the midfield for EtH as we march our way to another mid table season.

Get the win to feck up city's fa cup trophy enjoy the moment. Then move on from damn near everyone who is currently here

Agree mostly. We've never played Evans at RCB (his silly left footed LCB nonsense) so it has to be Varane / Casemiro at RCB you'd think. If Varane's not ready then it's Casemiro RCB and Amrabat at DM unfortunately.

The McT instead of Hojlund thing needs to end.

Go with a 3-5-2 or something like that.
We are losing anyway with our usual formations so our only chance is to go with something completely unexpected for them.
