Second gear my arse. They created feck all and wasn't allowed to. Players going down with cramp, Pep making defensive changes. He knew he was in game.

The two goals were outside of the box. Other than that, what good chance did they create?

Teams have been ripped to shreds by this City side of late and I just think if we were a bit braver in attacking areas, we'd have created more.
You don't think he knew we'd focus all our attention on KDB and Haaland again?

He knew he was in a game, but his team knew exactly what they were doing and they did it well.

If SAF wins a final like that with Roy Keane scoring two goals we talk about it for years.

We played 4-3-3 winning the CL in 2008.

No they didn't. Utd have almost never played 433.... especially in the Rooney years, maybe that year he was a lone striker, 09/10, at a push.

Honestly it sucks to lost to 2 shitty goals when actually we kept them at bay for quite a bit. They didn't look so special. I'm not as gutted as I thought I would be

I mean, the first one is about as far from shitty as it gets, but I know what you mean.

Yeah, because both were easily saved goals by any competent keeper. If only we had Fraser Forster.

He didn't even move for the first goal. It wasn't a rocket, it floated past him. Watch the replay again, he sees the ball clearly but it's like his feet are in cement.

And the 2nd goal, again not a piledriver, bounced twice before he even moved for it.

A top class keeper definitely saves the 2nd goal, and probably the 1st one too.

And that's not to mention the other 3 or 4 occasions where he was rooted to the spot for various shots and through balls.

Great servant to the club, but he's past it I'm afraid.

Any of their 5 centrebacks at the end could have started for us ahead of Lindelof. City in a nutshell.

We need a goal and we are banking on Wout fecking Weghorst and ScottMcT to somehow fluke one. Us in a nutshell.

Even then, we should have done better, particularly their 2nd goal.

Let's hope we get this whole ownership stuff sorted and have a good summer. That's that really.

Gets my Goat that all the talk of City being this and that, why dont the pundits ever talk about the cheating City have been doing?

I mean, the first one is about as far from shitty as it gets, but I know what you mean.
From our point of view it was shit, awful defending, looked like they'd just got out of bed.

What are you going on about?

The two goals were special goals. I called them ''worldies'' for a reason.

My point is that, other than those two chances, I can't remember them creating much.

Statically, both teams created 1 clear cut chance each.

    Shots:

    City - 11 United - 13

    On Target:

    City 5 United 3

Proud of them, never gave in and fought till the very end. Ten Hag has worked a miracle this season. The shite show he walked into, spending the whole season without a striker and he still comfortably got top 4, won a trophy and got to another final. Imagine how good they can be this time next year.

Anything City have won or will win is essentially null and void, they still have 115 charges against them, it’s important not to forget that.

Im not that disappointed the result was shite, but the overall 90 mins we were fantastic, 2 poor goals to concede we created chances and there ugly Viking or whatever they want to call him didn't have a kick, Varane was immense as was Lindelot.. that side was established over seasons, ETH has had 1 season to get to 2 Cup finals is a plus .. they boys did well you need a bit of luck in a final and we didn't have enough of it. .. it was a good game and we wernt 2nd best only in the result..

From our point of view it was shit, awful defending, looked like they'd just got out of bed.

It was just a freak goal. Lindelof won the initial header, I don’t see how any of the midfielders could have got to ball before Gundo hit it.

If we’re going to be so critical, basically every goal in history is a defensive mistake. In reality, it was just rotten luck for us.

    08/09 too.

Very much a fluid 442 continuation of the previous years... except Ronaldo ended the year basically a striker given his obsession with scoring took over by now.

    What are you talking about?

I said City didn't have to play exceptionally well to beat us, and both goals were avoidable.

I get you're upset but you've lost me now.

    Have a nice evening

2 hours of my time gone to watch that shower of excrement. City were there for the taking Haaland and De Bruyne were poor today and we gifted them both goals. We had so many floaters today its hard to believe. DDG looked like he was wearing cement shoes throughout this game (almost looked he was bribed to throw the game). The finishing? The worst I have seen from a United team in 45 + years of watching. All McT has to do with that chance at the end is barge his head into to it and its tied going to extra time, but he chickens out and lets a smaller City player head it over the bar. Just not acceptable. When you put on the shirt, play like it matters!

You look at both of the goals conceded and think it's a missed opportunity.

But City barely got out of second gear and laboured to a relatively easy win.

I'm glad it wasn't a landslide, but losing to two Gundogan volleys where he's left wide open is a massive kick in the teeth.
2nd gear what game did you watch?

And I clearly said, they weren't allowed to play well. I also gave reasons to suggest they weren't in ''second gear'' as you referred to it as. Absolute bollocks if you think that.

Gets my Goat that all the talk of City being this and that, why dont the pundits ever talk about the cheating City have been doing?

Some journalists do, to be fair. Miguel Delaney may get shit on here for whatever reason, but he's always banging on that drum and has been for a long time. Other journalists, too. As for a lot of pundits, some of them are City supporters so they don't give a shite, and others just don't give a shit generally.

That's the truth about it. It's brought up superficially by them, but then it's always followed by "But isn't their football great, hey?" As if the two things are magically disconnected from each other.

2nd gear what game did you watch?
A game where the better team won without any particular exertion or worry that their opponent was going to carve a legit chance.

Excellent game management from their manager who knew exactly when the game was won and managed it to the last second.

At best McTominay brushes a header on target without a Rodri intervention.

It doesn't have to be 4-0 with a Haaland hat-trick to be a straightforward routine win.

I thought we have them a game today. Didn't have enough quality going forward to win it. No disgrace at all, but sad that we couldn't take it to ET at the end there.

This seems like it must be a WUM.

We created the better chances (of the few that were made in the game), and their "game management" consisted of giving up better chances than City themselves scored 2 from.

It’s more to do with Weghorst now being the target man, would’ve much rather have a like for like swap with Pellestri on the right.
I personally would have gone with your suggestion, Pellistri on, wondering why this didn't happen. Wout isn't scoring, period, at least Pellistri would give them something to think about.

Barcelona became dominant in 2009 they crushed us and showed us how to play football in the modern era.

    We learnt nothing.

We lost Hargreaves, Ronaldo and Tevez and couldn’t replace them.

Thought City were pretty poor today and yet it still felt fairly comfortable. Gundogan is a monster and I definitely don’t understand the handball rule. Hopefully it’s a much better performance next week.

No they didn't. Utd have almost never played 433.... especially in the Rooney years, maybe that year he was a lone striker, 09/10, at a push.

We played Carrick, Scholes and Hargreaves. With Tevez, Ronaldo and Rooney as a front three.

Overall a decent match from what we could expect. We are absolutely in the game, and I feared it would be more of a one street game. Both their goals came from half chances, although Haaland had 2-3 good chances that could have led to goal. Overall, City were the better team, but not by far, and with some margins, we could have gripped a win. Disappointed to lose, of course, but not that disappointed by the performance.

Casemiro, Shaw, Varane and Garnacho the standouts for me. Lindelöf and Bissaka decent as well, while I was disappointed by Sancho, Eriksen, De Gea and Fernandes. Fred and Rashford somewhere in the middle.

And it is mate, but there’s a clear priority for me. 2 midfielders and GK this summer. Then get Kane on a free next summer

How many matches do you have to watch to understand the handball rule is a lottery. Utd have had a few against us this season and i believe you had one against leipzeg in your favour to name one.

You were poor because of the second successive derby Ten Hag managed to mark Haaland out of the game completely.

I thought Haaland missed a couple of chances personally.. I just didn’t think we moved the ball quickly enough through the middle despite acres of space for big chunks of the game. It was frustrating at times but 2nd gear was enough today.

That’s because you had no point of reference through the middle so had to play wide and back, wide and back.
Listen, United fans have watched this all season, it sticks out a mile to us! Difference is Haaland will score 4 goals next game and you can just chalk it off.

It wasn't 2nd gear at all - if you could have scored six or seven you would have done so.
You just couldn't penetrate our defence as you thought you would and Haaland was blocked well by Varane and Lindelof.

Yeah, you might want to watch it... maybe again? But I don't think many missed that Hargreaves played on the right up until Scholes came off.
