James would've been quite useful playing alongside Martial and Greenwood, Ole must not have the most trust in him yet

IF I HAD A LINGARD FOR EVERY LINGARD YOU LINGARD, I'D BE LINGARD IN A LINGARD

Looks like Shaw is playing as the LCB, good choice IMO. Lingard over Mata is questionable, a goal against a team about to be relegated to League two isn't anything to write home about. Glad to see Greenwood get the nod ahead of James, looking forward to seeing how him and Martial combine.

Back 5 again, not surprising this time though, don't blame him.

Still, 2-0 City. Two inside the first 50mins and then they'll sit back and play for the tie - can't see us breaking them down at all.

Feel a bit sorry for Lingard... Gets a tiny bit of confidence back over the weekend, only for it to be inevitably destroyed tonight.

Bravo is shite to be fair, we need to be shooting on sight tonight.

You're not accounting for the Bruno effect.

    We'll win this one 4-0.

Another tactical test for Ole. He's generally done well on that front.

I expect city to have far too much for us tonight though. They will not get complacent.

City going with their best 11. Don't like that but i'l take it as a sign of respect

Lingard is underperforming in 99% of his game time. Apart from the goal he was pretty shit against Tranmere. Even Dalot is a better option.
It really depends, maybe we can ask him to play a false 9 role and instead help Martial and Greenwood to cut inside, while we ask for AWB and Williams to move up. The midfield of Fred and Matic is just tasked to block everything, no need to create, cut counter attacks, pass wide to the full backs, and keep possession. Why not?

If Lingard doesn't work out, I think the next move is to put Martial back as a false 9 and get James to play on the left where he can still cut inside for a shot. The key point in that game for us is to get the ball to our full backs and ask them to move up up up, while the wingers get into the box in shooting positions.

0-0 for a good chunk of the game will do us nicely. We need to show strong counter attacking though, too often we’ve looked really poor when trying to pass out on the counter and it gets broken up. I was at the first leg and City broke up everything we tried to do and pressed the hell out of us. It needs to be better tonight.

Rodrigo and Otamendi, might be the best way for us to score.
Sit back kick it up bypass their midfield hope Greenwood can get in behind and score.

I’m disappointed that James not starting. I believe quick counter football is the only way to win this, and while he doesn’t have many weapons in his arsenal, he’s damn quick.

Why isn`t Pep rotating a bit here? He could surely play a few young talents without risking much.

Lingard needs to do so little to get picked, and needs to be so poor to be dropped.
Need to win by two, very little creativity and Mata is dropped. And would think with Rashford out, their weakness is pace at the back, that James would be in the line up.

Very negative yet again and those who believe the signing of Bruno is the end of Lingard will be disappointed. He'll be moved to the right wing again.

On paper it looks like a back 5 but the last time we thought that it turned out Williams was left of midfield. That was against Liverpool I think? We'll have to see how it turns out anyway. Don't exactly have much faith in us turning this around. City haven't exactly been kind to us with their line up either!
