Why Martial? Has to be for Miki. Loads of times Martial out on the left with space and our players keep playing down Valencia's side and running into brick walls. not one ounce of vision or common sense to see to get the ball to the ladSomething needs to change, miki and Martial were being dragged way too far back to be of any use on the counter, Rashford was completely on his own.We are missing Pogba or indeed Mata to feed the runs of Rashford and Martial, and our other best passer is sitting so deep that he can't effect the game on the ball, Fellaini has no pass in him and Herrera is rushing it too much.
Disappointed with Mkhi, he's been anonymous, I think Lingers will come on.Atkinson doesn't like Martial for some reasons, he hasn't given him a single foul. And there has been about 3 or 4.Happy enough, Martial and Rashford look dangerous. Mhiki hasn't been at the races though and should do better with that chance. Herrera is doing well bar that miss, love to see abit of fire from our lads especially in a derby. Bailly and Blind looks a fantastic partnership.We keep losing the 50-50 balls out there and Atkinson has let our players get fouled all over the pitch.
I think we've given them too much respect. Should try and press that back 4 when they're building up from the back. We did that 2nd half at OT back in September and they struggled to cope.
Don't think we can continue to play like this. Have to stop losing the ball and be more calm in possession.

They've obviously been playing their computer games too muchWe haven't looked great but we look like we are doing the job Jose probably set up to do; Frustrate City and hope to nick a goal on the counter. I can see us winning this if we can actually get in behind and if Bailly stops being so erratic at the back, he makes some great tackles but has put us in trouble a number of times too.From that distance and that angle, he should really just help the ball across the goal. There is so much more target available.

Not really happy with that half but its a typical Mourinho performance. I except some change in strategy after 75 minutes. Get Lingard and Rooney on and push the play more forward.Very disappointing by two of the best strategists of the game. On the plus side Bailly has been beastly in defence and we have their back four beaten for pace. City having more possession and even dictating the play to some extent is not the end of the world if we can properly utilise our pace on the flanks and through the middle.One of Mkhitaryans worst games. A couple of times the through ball to Rashford has been on but we haven't been able to execute it. This would have been Pogba's role and he would have delivered.
This is the problem imo, it's not even that they're playing that deep but the lack of movement from both off the ball is fecking bad. It's been a clear instruction for Fellaini/Ander to play a bit higher and just release our wingers whenever possible but it's Rashford only who makes those off ball runs. You can see around 38th minute (@GifLord could you get it for us?) that we're locked on the right side, Carrick gets the ball and there's nobody on the left either coming in or doing the run and he's shouting like mad at Martial.
We've won the ball plenty of times in midfield just to subsequently lose it seconds later because we are not able to release anybody, nobody's making the run. This match will cost Martial his spot again if he doesn't improve.We are missing Pogba. No one top effectively link midfield to attack.
I think we did enough in that half. We just can't deal with that attacking unit by playing expansive football. We have seen worse away performances.

He's just decided not to give any fouls in this game. A Jose side should theoretically benefit from it but so far, City have been nastier and gotten away with it.Mkhitaryan, what is he even trying out there? Never seems to look up when he gets the ball, never tries the easy option of finding a team mate when under pressure. He tries to dribble his way out of it when it's simply impossible. He must be playing one of the worst games of his life. I believe he has a lot more to show us but this will not be the game.What's interesting is how many different ways we can play under Jose.- Status
